Stay tuned shot scope crew! Opportunity for several... a lot of you. Coming up real soon! Should be a fun one and I think you all will be interested in partaking!
Great, now my brain is going to be running in overdrive, trying to figure out what might be happening. But I'm already super interested.

Through my first 3 rounds, I have yet to have it fall off either.  I use the carabiner and attach to my front belt loop instead of on my belt.
I'm not a fan of feeling something is loose on my shorts like that. The belt clip is very sturdy, and the magnet so far is plenty strong. Hopefully, it all stays that way.

I had it clipped to my bag and still forgot multiple times. It's one extra thing that takes away from my focus on the next shot.  I love the concept of being able to track but can't see it working for me at this point in time.
I'm going to hold on to it and try it again possibly but for now want to focus on hitting some goals.
I have it clipped on my belt, but I don't really use it for yardage or anything like that since we have touchscreen GPS in the carts. I've just made the tagging of the club part of my pre-swing routine, which doesn't have me "thinking" about it at all. I just stand behind the ball, tag the club, do my plan, visualize, then go.

You might want to think about it that way versus having technology on you that is in the way.

I will try it again.  I just have a hard time with anything more than the cart GPS.  Ha.

I still track every stat on my scorecard by writing it down. I can't keep it electronically.

Like I said, I don't use it for anything but tagging the clubs and then using the shot scope website for post round editing and stats review. As long as the cart has GPS, I pretty much ignore the H4 for that info. I also have a rangefinder for distances.

It's remembering to actually hit the club to it.  Out of 2 rounds I missed probably 40%. And maybe it's because it's just new and not a high priority currently but I will be keeping them and trying again.

Yup, keep at it. Like I said, find a spot in your pre-shot routine where you can tap it. It'll be worth it for the data.

H4 ordered today and I’m super stoked to get it. Any tips or tricks or things guys like to do with it in terms of the belt clip??

I use the carabiner and clip it my front belt loop.  I didn’t feel like it would stay on the belt I wear.

I got my shot scope in and honestly I don't like it.  It's not that it doesn't work well, it's that I already don't like having electronics on me and trying to remember to activate each club.

I think I will be tracking my stats the old fashioned way. Ha.

With the x5 or v3 watch you don’t actually have to activate the tag. I’ve had very few time that the watch didn’t pick up a shot and it’s pretty easy to edit in the app post round. The bad thing with the x5 watch in my opinion is that a lot of the time navigating through the watch can feel clunky at time but other than that I absolutely love the watch and all the data it provides.

I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, taylormade m1 irons (5-PW), Top Flite Gamer wedges (52,56,60), and odyssey white ice putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. When just getting a round in with friends or scrambling I play whatever I might find on the course or might find at the bottom of my bag.

The nice thing about one of the watches, V3 or X5, is that other than marking the location of each putt if you use Manual putting mode, and marking the hole location in both Manual and Auto mode, you don't have to interact with it at all if you don't; want to. I don't use scoring, and I am familiar enough with the course I belong to that I don't need yardages to hazards, so I barely look at it during a round.  I then spend a few minutes after the round editing to correct any wrong information, such as the type of lie. It rarely misses a shot, and the data I have accumulated is revealing.

I have played 4 rounds with the X5 and like it a lot.  Auto putting has worked well for me.

A couple things I either need to better understand or could be improved:

1.  Is My Strategy viewable on the app?  I don’t see it. It’s very useful but I have had to use a browser during the round to see it, and on the phone that is clunky.

2.  Deleting “shots” mid-round is impractical.  I knocked a found ball out of some weeds recently with a wedge and it recorded a shot for me and I just had to leave it for later editing.

Any suggestions for these?  Thanks all!

Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there.

Concur on the menu navigation. I would love the ability to create my own shortcuts. But that is just a minor request. I’m enjoying the new features on my X5.

I have been keeping score on my watch for a long time (a holdover from my old Garmin S20). That cadence doesn't bother me while playing. Since I had a golf watch before getting a laser Ranger Finder, I find it easier to use my watch to check yardage and use the hole map features. None of that slows me or my playing group down. Marking the flag can be the only time I'm slowing down play.

However, as you said, I'm not checking to see if my watch picked up a club before swinging that part is almost automatic.

I use the X5, and before that the V3, and find the watches very unobtrusive. You hardly notice them when playing and they pick up virtually all shots so the only thing you need to do is mark the position of the hole.

Same here. Since I play the same courses 95% of the time, I don't need a lot of the features of the X5, shortcuts would be awesome. As to tagging, I concur with those using either the V3 or X5, the 'tagging process' is automatic. No need to tag, the antenna in the band picks up the club virtually all of the time.

It's remembering to actually hit the club to it.  Out of 2 rounds I missed probably 40%. And maybe it's because it's just new and not a high priority currently but I will be keeping them and trying again.

This is why I kept mine on my belt.   It took a few rounds to become a routine.   I would tag the club when I was standing behind the ball as part of my preshot routine.

I think using a push cart most of the time, tagging won’t be an issue since I have a mounting device for my phone. Except for putts. Might have to manually add those later? I don’t like carrying my phone in my pocket while playing but might have to start doing this. Worst case scenario, I look at getting a ShotScope watch for Christmas if I don’t like the mechanics this spring and summer.

If you leave it on the cart you can't tag your putts.  Like the other clubs you are supposed to be at the spot you are putting and you also need to tag the flag location.   That said, I am pretty sure you can add all of them later via the dashboard.

This is the only thing that concerns me so far. Will have to play with putting phone in my pocket while putting and adding data after the fact.

Thanks all!

Tap the "+" sign on the bottom right in the app. You then are offered three options, to use the app as a GPS like other golf apps, to "preview" a course or to access MyStrategy that you have created on the Dashboard.

Deleting shots during editing is really easy.

I wish the club yardage numbers had a way to include slope. Where I play, I have some major elevation drops on a few holes and really messes up the yardage numbers on my club data.

I asked this question of Shot Scope. They are very concerned about the accuracy of the information provided. There is not much they can do about horizontal GPS inaccuracy of 3–5 meters, 95% of the time, keeping the size small and pricing reasonable. Vertical GPS accuracy is even worse and would just compound the inaccuracy. Thus, at this point in time, not in the cards. You can say that others provide it, but that is just the way it is for now. You can always use MyStrategy on the Dashboard to preplan a round and see the effect of slope as elevation is an option. Or, there are many, many inexpensive rangefinders, well under $100, that have a slope function.

As far as elevation affecting club distance data, these things tend to even out over time, like playing down wind or into the wind. If the shot is anything but a tee shot or a putt from on the green, you can always mark it as "Provisional" so that it is not included in club distances. AVG shows the average of all shots taken with a club; P-AVG eliminates outliers, both long and short.
