Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Start of week 5. Still normal swings protocol. Pre speed was holding around 107. Would be great if that is what I can stick at. Curious where I am at the end of the week. Might need to do SS swings to crank things up a smidge. again soupy out and didn’t have the best of footing. Dare I risk swinging on the sidewalk? Definitely would not do driver swings. Don’t want to destroy my baby. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Blustery 38* this morning. The cold never bothered me anyway. In a groove. Swing also feels more effortless despite the speed gains. Really need to see how this corresponds on the range and course soon. Pre Speed holding steady. The added benefit with this aid, you get like 30s-1min break swapping weights. i think that leads to more meaningful reps. 11/17 Pre 107 108 109 104 107 1 118 113 115.5 2 110 112 111 3 107 111 109 4 105 106 105.5 5 104 104 104 1 119 117 113 117 118 116.8 post 111 110 112 111 111 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
End of week 5. I think it is time for me to move to Side step movements as my SS seems topped out. Pre and Post speed roughly the same. Maybe i do the Side step for 2-4 more weeks, then take a break and go to fit for golf. This trainer has been great and highly recommend for the price point! Plus Black Friday is coming, I am sure a deal i around the corner. 11/19 Pre 107 109 110 110 109 1 121 118 119.5 2 116 114 115 3 111 110 110.5 4 106 106 106 5 103 103 103 1 114 117 114 114 116 115 post 108 111 106 111 109 Weekly average comparisons Week 1 avg Week 2 avg Week 3 avg Week 4 Week 5 Pre driver 91.61111111 Pre driver 98.83333333 Pre 100.5 Pre driver 99.33333333 Pre driver 107.8333333 1 weight 86.33333333 1 weight 109.5 1 99.83333333 1 weight 108.5 1 weight 115.3333333 2 85 2 106.8333333 Ss1 99.33333333 2 104.5 2 110.1666667 3 75.16666667 3 103.5 2 102.1666667 3 93.5 3 110 4 88.16666667 4 99.5 Ss2 97 4 103.5 4 105.5 5 86.83333333 5 99.83333333 3 99.83333333 5 95.16666667 5 103.1666667 1 weight 91.4 1 weight 112.4 Ss3 103 1 weight 113.0666667 1 weight 114.0666667 Post driver 96.58333333 Post driver 106.6666667 4 93 Post driver 107.3333333 Post driver 110.0833333 Ss4 92.66666667 5 97.33333333 Ss5 97.66666667 1 102.3333333 Ss1 102.8666667 Post 106.6666667 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Day after a booster, so a little sore and tired. Still a good session. The sequencing of the SS swings is starting to come along. I am very excited to get out to the course Saturday to see how my on course performance is. One benefit I have noticed with the trainer is my swing sequence overall feels better. I feel smooth now instead of violent or choppy. I also feel more ground force through out my swing. Once thing I might consider doing is adjusting protocols to cut my swings in half. Although my final swings were faster, I was feeling pretty gassed. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Week 6. Actually made slight gains on all my swings today. Overall compared to 3 weeks ago when I started the SS protocol I gained quite a bit. Felt like I needed to put more effort in today. I call it a holiday hangover from too much food. Course tomorrow to see if gains are true. Overall pre driver swing dipped this week but post swings gained despite fatigue. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Sorry no review yet. Started a new job and with life things got delayed. Did do a check in today. Last three weeks been doing fit for golf exclusively. Pre speed back to old baseline. Ramping up though, on the last 5 light swings i was able to top 120+. Might try to implement this once a week as maintenance and then pick it up in February or March hardcore before the season. 12/16 check in Pre 102 101 104 102 102.25 1 115 113 114 2 114 113 113.5 3 112 113 112.5 4 107 108 107.5 5 102 104 103 1 116 122 119 117 116 118 post 111 112 111 112 111.5 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Onto week two doing SS protocols. This is my mid week session. Seeing a 5mph bump pre to post again. The less swings of the SS protocol are very energy saving. I should note the pre and post driver swings are choking down to about 44” in length. Will do a length contact self fitting next time I’m at the range to see if shorter truly helps with this set up. So far I haven’t minded the long length with the rdx blue. Although, all this training means I’ll likely have to bump my flex up to keep spin control. 12/29 SS level 1 Pre 108 110 106 102 106.5 1R 115 114 113 114 1L 90 99 95 94.66666667 3R 108 112 112 110.6666667 3L Miss 89 96 92.5 5R 102 103 105 103.3333333 5L 85 87 90 87.33333333 1RSs 121 116 122 119.6666667 1Lss 105 96 107 102.6666667 3Rss 110 112 112 111.3333333 3Lss Miss 99 Miss 99 5Rss 105 105 105 105 5Lss 92 85 87 88 1R max 122 121 106 121 121 118.2 Post 114 113 114 111 113 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. Keko220
Hello VG, I just received my MSS and started the protocols today. from reading your posts it seems like its legit and I'm looking forward to seeing results come golf season. I'm also currently doing FFG on M-W-F and will be implementing the SS in between workout days. I'm going to try and get swing speed numbers with my SC200 and see if it registers the swing speeds. Hope our efforts show on the golf course in a few months. Kekoe220 Vegan_Golfer_PNW 1 Quote Keko220

Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Went outside for swings today vs the gym. My pre and post speeds were faster. I presume from better ground interaction with spikes. interestingly, my Non dominant swings are slower outside than indoors. Anyways, progress still good. Two more weeks of SS L1 then off to level 2. Speed may dip a little now that I can push the FFG winter strength program harder having a gym membership. 1/09 SS level 1 Pre 108 111 110 109.6666667 1R 120 119 125 121.3333333 1L 85 88 84 85.66666667 3R 115 114 115 114.6666667 3L 86 86 Miss 86 5R 106 96 105 102.3333333 5L 84 81 79 81.33333333 1RSs 124 122 104 116.6666667 1Lss 104 101 109 104.6666667 3Rss 115 Miss 109 112 3Lss 90 87 88 88.33333333 5Rss Miss Miss 104 104 5Lss 77 83 70 76.66666667 1R max 121 113 121 121 120 119.2 Post 116 111 112 114 113.25 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
So I am about to start the next round of SS protocols with this trainer, I am also transitioning into the In season power routine on FFG from the Winter program. Did my last maintenance run today on SS protocols. Here are how my Pre swing speed averages stack up. Last Maintenance run Pre-swing speed. Overall a 3 mph gain has stuck (this speed is close to where i was on post training swings most the time). Along with my muscles not being sore from lifting, i am super impressed with my results. JFish350
Keep up with up dates, I am looking into this, but I feel my driver swing is out of whack right now AGAIN. I am told I don't need more speed. I had a pro tell me my handicap doesn't fit my swing, should be single digit. There are other reasons I'm at 15 as well. It would be interesting to see how your handicap changes with the added speed assuming you can isolate it from major swing changes (ignoring general improvement work indoors). Great work staying committed to this over the winter. I started strong but have really stalled between vacations/injuries and have only been able to maintain speed using the Stack. So I did have two 9 hole rounds prior to getting Skillest lessons. No SG data but my avg driver distance was much closer to 270 (mostly carry). My SS with the new shaft help a lot. My first 18 is tomorrow if the snow melts. I’d also be 2.5 weeks into a lesson so things might be a wash. The lesson is mainly for my iron play but I know it will translate everywhere. With the lesson work getting my speed feels like less effort so I feel I can go even faster with more work thinking about my swing setup. my big issue now is, with the season here, do I focus on FFG more and actual golf/practice and keep with the maintenance program or so I go full next level SS training and try to use my swing work in that training for my practice? I signed up for a lesson package this winter from an instructor who still plays high level golf - already qualified for the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA tour. Since short game is one of my greatest weaknesses, I asked about his tournament prep, practice routines and general advice for seasonal golfers. (His facility is indoors, not ideal for short game lessons) His feedback was each season begins with additional short game work: hitting a few sand shots so the first ones aren't on the course, getting his feel back for high/low shots and judging runout on chips/pitches and reaction to slopes. I looked at your stats last year and would recommend you consider the same. If you cannot play year round, I would prioritize playing which is among the fastest ways to lower scores and enjoy all the work you have put in. If you are cooped up in the winter it is a great time to prioritize speed training and weights. Get out and enjoy the game and weather! Average driving distance for scratch golfers is around 250 yards including all shots. If you can hit it 270-280 off the tee, distance is no longer the problem if your handicap is above 10. It's quality of contact on full swings (duffs, penalties) and short game holding you back. My distance is similar to yours since I'm at elevation and a bit slower. My SG info has me around 3 HCP off the tee, 10 HCP approach, 15 HCP short game, and 20 HCP putting. My overall handicap is 11.0 right now... I'm working on getting short game and putting closer to a 10HCP as opposed to scratch on full swing to get me into single digits.
