Arccos Wish List

ZACHFREITAS

Recommended Posts

I wanted to create this thread in-case any Arccos product managers are listening.  Please add more if you have any ideas. This product is pretty great so I'm not sure there is a lot more that can be added but... I'm sure there are others with better ideas.

Wish List:

1. Allow any shot to be assigned a chip. I sometimes like to use my 7 iron for greenside shots like these so I want to be able to easily assign them as such so I don't have to come back later and correct them.

2. Club probability. Tell me which clubs I hit most consistently. This will tell me which I need to work with.

Make Android version better. Apple UI is far improved over Android, to the point because I am a Android user I ditched Arccos.

I’ve asked them to use EZlocator data so no one has to mark the hole.  Marking the hole is something I never do as it’s just too much of a pain.

One more…how many times have you putted from just off the green.  Now you have a 3 putt…how about adding in the Texas wedge.

Definitely be able to designate a shot as a chip, I chipped in with my hybrid from just off the green in a round yesterday and didn’t think anything of it, and when I checked out strokes gained it was all out of wack between approach and chipping because of it.
Also, being able to designate a shot as a punch out, so you can see your recovery shot “success rate”

@Blake Hopkinsthis is what we need more than anything else. I wish we could designate shot types - punch, chip, etc.

Feel like those stats would be great and would also help make the real stats more representative. Also, wish they had specific types on penalty shots.

I may have to copy this thread and concept for Garmin. Garmin has the censors and the app but lacks depth.  I feel like it should be quite easy for them to at least have a product that competes with Arccos/Shotscope.

I wish the recommendations from the AI caddy allowed you to get an option that wasn’t driver ie. FW and then longer iron.  It seems the AI is obsessed with driver even if the length I hit means a FW May be better, etc.  AI doesn’t seem to take into account narrow fairways.

Add distance rings to the GPS screen. The Grint app does this and it's so helpful to be able to see distance rings. Really the GPS and app functions inside the Grint app is so much better.

So many times if the Tee box is near the last green the app will pickup my driver after I've already finished the last hole. Then it's impossible to just delete on shot you have to delete multiple shots to get the misplaced driver off the last hole.

For sure finish the website. It stinks to have to go back and forth.

Golf nut. Can't get enough.

I'd love some insight on how they calculate strokes gained with different clubs. I like that I can see a number but I have no insight into how that calculation is performed.

Someone already mentioned being able to flag a shot as a "recovery shot" and I think that's a good idea.

Some way to evaluate accuracy when there are fairway bunker in the middle of the fairway. The same goes for "grass bunkers" which are common around me. These bunkers are in the middle of the fairway so my drive was technically straight (not a left or right miss). The reality is I probably missed either short or long relative to my target but I don't have that option. Not sure if there's a simple workaround for this but seeing a left or right miss in the stats doesn't feel appropriate to me.

Edit: Saw someone mention the Grint. The Grint does incorporate maps of the slopes on greens. Having that as an option would be great. Especially when it comes to recommending distances and understanding how a shot is really playing. Example would be a sever false front that makes the recommended shot a little deeper into the green than it would have been otherwise.

  1. Search function for previous rounds - I play public courses exclusively, as I want variety week to week. Having to scroll through all my rounds to see how I did the last time I played a course is a tremendous waste of time
  2. Strategy building - instead of having Caddie’s ai determine what I should do, it would be nice if I could build my own plan of attack on a course.

All great suggestions so far!

Arccos, please, for the love of god, finish the "Beta" dashboard already! How long has that banner been there? Seriously, like two years now?

In addition to the proposals laid out above, I'd really like to be able to drill down into my putting stats beyond just the 2', 10', 20' and 30' options. Give me a slider so I can dial in and look at specific ranges or at least break it down into smaller chunks. How about dispersion maps for all clubs? Why only driver and 3w? Shot scope is far and away better at a lot of these things.

Finally, fix the damn missing shots thing. I've tried the Link in just about every wearable location possible and it just really doesn't matter. (And NO, I'm not putting a phone in my front pocket!)  Every round it's missed fairway shots, missed putts, extra putts, carrying over shots from the last hole. It's always a shocker to look down and see an 11 or some crazy score posted for a hole only to drill in and see all the shots from the last two holes combined on the previous hole. Then the tedium of having the clean that up on the spot.

The main issue I have with the round preview option is the club recommendations. It is not uncommon for the recommendation to say 5i, pw, 60’ to get to a par 4 (no water, hazards, ob, etc). Can’t imagine that would have a lower SG value than actually clubbing up to a mid iron then chipping if you miss the green but Arccos continually suggests laying up in these situations. Would be worth another look!

While i agree with need for the punch outs as the bad SG should be assigned to the shot that took me into trouble and not the punch out. These short punch outs dont affect the distance calculations for those clubs just like chips around green , anything that isnt within 50-90th percentile of distance on each club isnt included in distance calculations.

Been a user and beta tester of Arccos for many years. SG addition was a big add a few years ago and their calculations are no different than the book "Every Shot Counts" vby Mark Brody. Arccos wrote a good article when they launched SG: What is Strokes Gained? – Arccos Golf

Long time user and tester of Arccos and the big things for me

- Web dashboard has been de-prioritized in development. For us that want to analyze our trends we need the dashboard.

- Rescue shots need to be marked as such so SG is applied correctly to the faulting shot that took us into the position and not on a great punch out. Other shots gained systems like Decade and Golfmetrics do this much better.

- Post round editing capabilities to edit approach shots that hit green and putts in relation to flag - right, left, short, long. This isnt critical for SG calculations but will help golfers that want to analyze trends.

#1 - Finish the beta version already!

#2 - The “personal bests” don’t register on 9 hole rounds.

#3 - Easy way to differentiate stats by season or some type of compare two date ranges function.  I’d like to compare last year to this year, etc.

#4 - Add wedge icons for pairing 48, 46, 44 degrees as well as chipper.  I like to use the x and xx clubs for experimenting.

1) make the putting better. I know they keep working on it, but I still miss a lot of putts.

2) be able to use putter from off the green and not count it as a putt

3) about 50% of the time the Caddie AI will just say "error try again later" I also will get different club recommendations between the main app using distance and the AI on the same shot

4) optimize the app to use less battery and data. The app kills my battery and data even with the course downloaded

5) just make it easier to get distances/move around on the map. The UI just seems to fight me when I am trying to get distances on the map

Biggest thing for me - the sensors need a redesign. They have too high of a failure rate (according to my interactions with Arccos support, mine had about a 40% fail rate within 6 months), and in the redesign improve the reliability of connection between the sensors and the managing device.

4. I also wish Arccos wound track the weather temp and humidity for my rounds played on my scorecard.

So far I’m really happy with my experience with my Apple Watch. Keep in mind that I have the Ultra which could explain why battery life is not an issue for me.

I tested the Arccos system last year for MGS, and I still have it on all my clubs. After using it for the better part of a season, I have a few things I would like to see fixed.

1. Echoing others, being able to designate a shot as a chip or a positional shot/punch out. Arccos thinks I hit my 4i terribly because of all the <100 yard shots with it.

2. The caddie suggestions are terrible. I played a round last year where it didn't recommend driver once. 475 yard par 5 (which is reachable for me), nah hit 5i-6i-GW. 440 yard par 4? Nope, hit two hybrids, leaving me ~30 yard wedge and accept bogey.

3. Recalculate SG for putting. Any round with more than 30 putts is a negative SG. Considering I'm a 6, and I have it set to show against a 6, I have serious doubts the majority of players at my level are averaging less than 30 putts per round.

Last 2 rounds I played not one shot registered.  Ridiculous that I had to put in every shot during the walk from hole to hole.  I love the product when it works and believe they could make this much better.  The question is will they or do I go to a different platform that just runs off my Apple Watch 8.
