I've mostly been still fooling around on Discovery mode.  I've played with the other settings, but I'm focused on getting a good baseline for every club in the bag.  There's a couple interesting things that I've noticed so far.

1.  When I compare video of my swing to a pros swing I always feel like there's too much additional movement.  It isn't as simple and clean (obviously) but I didn't really know where that extra movement was or where it started.  Now I know.  I can look at an entire session of swings and instantly see which swings were better than the others.  Both visually with the hand path and in the statistics shown below.  It makes for way faster adjustments during practice.

2.  I finally see what my instructor would say when he'd say "good swing" when I made poor contact, and let's try do that a bit different on a swing with good contact.  Some swings are clearly better visually and in the metrics than others (even if they don't result in good contact).  In the session yesterday I hit 21 drivers in a row and made what I would consider good contact through all of them.  The last two were excellent for me, carrying just shy of the boundary fence at 250 then bouncing into it with the first bounce.  One of them was not nearly as good a swing as the other and had a lot more in common with most of the ones I marked as not so good.  Lots of extra hand movement in transition.  The good one was one of those swings that felt effortless, and  it was much more in line with the range expected metrics the deWiz suggests are the typical numbers.  Interestingly there were several swings that I marked as bad that had similar results.  I just need deWiz to make a sensor that clamps to the hosel to show club head orientation and position and I'll have all the data I ever need.  😄

Quick video on those last two swings:

Two different swings with similar results.  Both of them were striped, but one was much more efficient than the other.  The big knock on both is that according to the app they're both a little too arm dominated with max hand speed coming well inside 12" from impact.

Thanks for providing this opportunity to our members.

I love the info the testers have shared to date.  At first glance it seems light years beyond any sort of swing data the average golfer has been able to obtain themselves previously.   However, it seems like I'm reading a foreign language 🙂   It's a whole new set of terms and numbers than we've been exposed to before.  I'm sure there are resources for interpretation and knowing what the numbers mean to your swing.  I know one of the testers mentioned a private FB group which was very helpful.

I'm looking forward to reading more of the experiences and learning more.

Absolutely! We have a member Facebook group for deWiz users to bounce thoughts/questions/ideas off of. We also have a Learning Center on our website that we are constantly updating with drills and data findings and other useful information. And I'm also always eager to set up calls with our users to help answer any questions that people may have! We certainly understand that our platform and data is a new way of looking at the golf swing, but ultimately when I meet with new deWiz users, I can typically get them pointed in the right direction after 15 minutes of chatting. Unlike our co-founders, I'm no professional golfer ha! I'm just your typical 10-handicap trying to get better like everyone else!

Awesome, and I in no way meant it was a bad thing I didn't understand, just that as you said, a new way of looking at things.   Sounds like a lot of good resources.  It's also great whenever we have the OEM actively participating in he testing threads, nothing better than getting information directly from the source.  Thanks!

I wanted to give an update after the first week of use. I have really enjoyed using the deWiz and have dove in on the Practice and Learn. After an initial set of swings once the device arrived. I come a little over the top and I steepen the shaft pretty solid. So I got to work on improving these metrics to a more acceptable range. I tested the over the top with a Fuyrk style swing to get that feel and the deWiz really picked that up.

Over the next week I took sessions with practice swing, both club and no club focused on the transition. The device really helped show me that I needed to get my hand higher in the backswing so they could drop down a bit and it helps shallow the club a bit though this is the focus for next week or two. I have been able to move my transition to around -2 to 2 cm which should line up for a straighter set of shots than being in either extreme. The device makes it simple and easy to see how things have progressed nicely over the recent weeks. Best of all today I did my swings in my office while looking at snow out my window.

Final note as a preview is I tried the wedge back-swing distance challenge and lets just say this one will need some work for sure.

I have also found that a harbor freight grab  canvas tarp (NOT a cheapo blue one) or one of those square shades sails work really well.  I have only tested both through 7 iron so tread carefully.  😄   got nervous and bought an actual net after and  use the tarp as the backup layer.

Awesome initial assessment here @ejgaudette and this device has received numerous recommendations, and the best part for those in the northern climate states is that it can be used indoors with or without a club.

Will be watching this for a little while longer before taking the plunge myself.

Just finished another session. I got lucky and was able to bring my clubs. At first I started swinging my normal swing, however wearing the device helped me correct that faster. I will post more data and possibly a video.

I am absolutely exhausted. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

One of the knocks or considerations for HackMotion was data overload. Wondering how this stacks up for all of you? Do you find the information clear and concise or is some of it a little overwhelming?

There is definitely a lot of data to digest, but the app does a nice job highlighting specific metrics with transition, tempo, and backswing length. I think what I am finding the most impactful right now as the majority of my swings fall within range of those is the IDDx/IDDy and Steepening/Shallowing data. On bad strikes or if I am out of range in transition, I am seeing those numbers reflect getting more steep than I should and the plane numbers off. Will be posting some more screenshots from a recent session tomorrow.

This is a fantastic description! I experience the same, although I am outside of the IDDx/IDDy norms. You are able to take a swing and then see the data immediately. You can usually see the parallel between quality of strike and the data.

I can pretty consistently get within range on IDDx, IDDy is a different story though. I’d say that’s the one I need to work on more. My max hand speed to impact during my last session was a big improvement over previous sessions though. I could feel it with strike impact too

One of the knocks or considerations for HackMotion was data overload. Wondering how this stacks up for all of you? Do you find the information clear and concise or is some of it a little overwhelming?

There is for sure some of this at first. You need to target one thing at a time and try to move that. For me getting transition solid was not too bad. Just getting a bit steeper plane gave space to transition on plane. My focus has moved to the Steepening/Shallowing metric given it is the most off. I am really standing the club up. So I am working on feeling like I drop the club head down just to get a feel and deWiz confirms that I am shallowing the club, generally too much, but then taking that back to the normal swing.

To be sure though you could try to change too much at once and focus on too many numbers if you are not careful.

So, a couple of sessions in and so far, I really like the data and feedback from the app.

The tempo info is interesting to me as I have always heard 3:1 is the right ratio. I am happy to see that I am in the ball park. The start to impact number is the simple combination of my takeaway and my downswing.

image.png.28b66adfa7e5c7b26ed8f502ed33a5b0.png

This is super cool.....distance to impact. I would have thought that the max speed being closer to impact would be best. Apparently not!! I am much closer to the ball at my max speed, which is probably due to flipping my hands. The good news is the data below shows that I am improving.

image.png.86d0cb266432d77a7ec064cbf0ac6947.png

We all hear about shallowing the club. The deWiz is GREAT for understanding and feeling this.

Throughout each session (before and after the yellow line) I started to shallow a little better towards the end. the dewiz app is very helpful for this while practicing. I used a tripod so I could easily see the results after a good (or bad) swing.  To me, when shallowing, I feel like I am laying the club down behind me (yes, I know) and it feels awkward. Here is where the tool really helps....Someone could tell me all day to shallow my club. I haven't been able to physically understand what it felt  like until now.

(The yellow line was made by me to show the different sessions)

I have focused my sessions so far on the transition part of the app, because I know that is where I need a lot of help. This week, I am going to use the other modes to give it a go for all of you. If you are a data junkie, you would like this training tool.

until then....Marc

So far, I find it pretty concise.  Don't get me wrong there's a ton of data, but I think the app keeps it pretty focused by only providing practice for a couple of the major metrics -- (Length of Backswing, Tempo, and transition).  The focus on those metrics seems to echo their website with the longer, straighter, closer.   All the other data metrics seem to be for either building consistency in the main three or diagnosing a fault.

I played with focusing on IIdy and IIdx since those were the two metrics I was furthest off normal from and I couldn't make either budge too much.  The moment I started focusing on transition and length of back swing both number started to come a bit more in line.

I'm starting to think the true value of the deWiz to me is how many swings I make with it.  Its really easy to use with good feedback and minimal fuss.  I got up to do a morning stretch/light workout then figured I'd hit a couple balls while coffee was brewing. I ended up making 50 swings (my usual quota for the day) in rapid order.  It was borderline like mindlessly bashing through a bucket at the range except for the direct feedback I got on every shot.  I wasn't focused on metrics or using the learning stimuli.  Just listening to the good/bad chirp.

On another note I've been using the favorite feature in the opposite direction.  I mark all the bad swings with head scratcher contact so i can compare them to the others.

I agree with this I have been practicing the swing much more consistently and have really enjoyed that and learning more about my swing. Plus being able to just knock 10 or 20 as a quick break from work is a real plus and I hope keeps me sharp going into the spring next year. A long way to go until then though. Time will tell.

Curious if anyone else is seeing a different in max hand speed club to club? So far I am seeing that with my mid irons, I'm averaging around 16-20" from impact, but with longer clubs like driver, I am more around 5" or so, which is much closer than the recommended target range. Thinking maybe it has to do with the longer club which essentially creates a longer lever? I think it probably also has to do with me not utilizing my lower half properly, but just wondering if anyone else is seeing a similar outcome. I am more aware of it now while swinging, which I give full credit to deWiz, and in my head can feel like I am accelerating through impact with driver for example, where I think I can feel more of the deceleration through impact with my 7 iron, which I LOVE the feel of.
