I just had a moment of complete consciousness… I’m not dead yet, so I got that going for me, but for some reason a 7 iron swing in the back yard just gave me complete awareness of where and what the club is doing in my swing.

As Wednesday winds down and my Detroit Tigers stole the series, I can’t help but feel it’s been a great day. Stay safe out there, and treat yourselves to a well-deserved nightcap!

Tigers on a roll and best team in baseball the last 2 months.  No secret on their methodology and they were the better team vs Houston.  Cleveland will be a tough series, however, Cleveland has not played this version of the tigers, having last played them in July.  

And I wouldn’t say the tigers stole the series.  Tigers out pitched, out hit, out base-ran, out defensed, out game-planned and out managed the Astro’s.

I realize "stole" wasn't the best choice of words. They've been on fire lately, and it's an incredible story. Cleveland is a solid opponent, but it’s going to be fun to watch. Being a Tigers fan right now is a lot of fun!

Good evening! What a crazy week it’s been but hoping to get out there on the course soon. Have a big family weekend tomorrow. You know have to do all the pumpkin patch photos and fall things…. Not my favorite thing but the wife will be happy so we’re doing them. Father got some new clubs cause he finally realized he’s not the 25 year old he was when he bought his set. Looking forward to getting out there with the old man

Good Friday evening from Austin spies!!! Damn it’s hot here!!! Great time with @Josh Parker! He beat me up today on his home track (a track that has soooo much potential to be a great course). Both Josh and his amigo Dan are some cool cats! Good peeps down here in hot, sweaty ass Texas! How the hell do you all deal with the heat? I’m toast! Can’t wait til tomorrow to play again!

Good evening -

Spent probably too long at the practice facility today… hit 100 balls without any sort of care what happened to them.  All pretty poor shots, I wanted to do this to see what I need to do to improve what I have.  Next 100-150 I used my 3 iron for an alignment stick and “played” the course.  Had I actually been playing as long as the putter was on it would have been a record score for me I think.  I will run you through it.  Not saying yardages because all of them are into the wind.  I just played what I normally would hit off memory the best I could, and if I hooked or faded the approach too much I alternated between 25-50 chips.

1. Driver, 8, 56 (25 yard chip)

2. Driver faded to left rough, 8 iron

3. Driver, 2 iron, 48 (50 yard chip)

4. 9 iron (Ace). I hit the stick where I was aimed.  

5. 2 iron Hulked above the trees made it, PW chip toe down to avoid the grainy crap where I normally land.

6. 8 iron, over drew it.  56, (25 yard chip)

7. Driver smoked, 6 iron 

8. Driver, 8 iron over drew, 56 (25 yard flop)

9. Driver, 54

10. Driver, Driver off the deck, 56 (50 yard chip)

11. PW and we are putting

12. Driver into 25mph wind, 9 iron 75 yard chippy

13. Driver, 48, 56 (25 yard chip)

14. Driver, 48, 56 (fluffed some grass so I could hit a fake bunker shot, short right with approach)

15. Driver, PW, 56 (25 yard chip) probably didn’t need it.

16. Driver, 4 iron, 56 (50 yard chip)

17. Driver, 56 (Another fake bunker shot)

18. 7 iron

 

When I’m not particularly working on anything this is how I go to the range.  I usually add chips just to work through the bag, it’s like playing a worst ball round.  But, I am pretty sure I found middle or dang close on all but one of those shots, and it was the last one.  7 iron was a touch thin. I sometimes need a banana slice on hole 3 if i go too far right… today with the wind I bet it moved 80-90 yards left to right.  
 

The big takeaway here for me is, if you go to the range just to hit balls.  Stay home.  Focus on an area of the game use alignment tools, go through your whole preshot routine, including walking in from the back after you picked a line.

After all of that I spent 2 hours on the chipping area.  Working on short sided, and into the grain chips. Pressure puts, I would have to put all of the chips to save par.

Great session @Shankster, and something that I incorporate anytime I go to the range.

Although I don't hit driver on as many holes as you, due to layouts of the courses here taking it out of safe play.

Also, at least once every couple weeks, I can walk over to the course close to the house, take a couple sand wedges and my putter and work on both putting and bunker shots. They have 3 practice bunkers, 2 of them have soft, fluffy sand, and the other has a more firm, "packed" sand condition.

Played the last 2 days, steady scores, although different weather conditions and pin positions on the same course made it seem like hitting the different required shots something to contemplate before making the commitment to do so.

Evening spies! Jet lag got me good the last 2 days. Never experienced anything like it! I've traveled timezones before with never an issue. Dunno why?

So I missed the CC, and am kicking myself hard over it. I ended up "napping " 15 minutes before it went live, and by napping I mean i slept through til my 0400 alarm this morning for work.

Work is a disaster of a dumpster fire too.  Ugh!

Great reviews on the test @Owengeorge13 @ejgaudette and @TJ Hall !!! Definitely worth the read for anyone who hasn't read through all 18 pages!

Between the lady boss and myself we had over 2000 pics and videos to flay through. Hoping to have them uploaded by Monday. Probably will just post a link to the album that hopefully works. 

For those who follow on IG, you got to see some snippets of the on board golf they had. It was real grass, sprinklers, putting cups, etc. I won the progressive putting challenge too! And with an OG rossie putter at that!

 Both the cruise and Hawaii was amazing! We visited Kona, Hilo,  and Honolulu.  We rented a jeep and made the dr9ve to the summit of the observation telescopes for a sunset over the Big Island, at 13,700 feet! We hiked waterfalls, visited unique beaches, drove over cold lava lakes to the edge of the ocean walls. I somehow convinced the wife to stop at 2 golf courses just so I could buy a ball from the pro shops.   

Aslo, if ever in Hilo, they have a public 9 hole course that with cart and rentals (old clubs) was only $35 to play 18. (Wish I had more time)

Anyway, it is an on duty weekend, and I'm hoping to swing a club Monday after 2 weeks away from playing. The itch is strong.

I’ve also decided that I am removing my Arccos sensors.  They are very annoying, I like having the tech and I will keep them for the shaft test to collect some data, but they are pretty terrible actually.  Maybe some Arccos grips, or does anyone have another recommendation?  How are the other options?

GolfShot. No sensors, less annual membership, and it tracks your swing with your smart watch.

I have a Garmin watch, no sensors, and use the watch for "approximate" distances, also use a rangefinder.

From what I have seen on reviews, etc. all of them seem to have some type of "issue" which prevents them from being the perfect solution.

This range has a bunker and designated short game green that is about 30 yards.  But there is always a sign saying it is closed.  After getting yelled at for taking a few steps on the grass off the mat I don’t want to push my luck.

It works with apple devices very well. I haven’t messed with putting that much other than number of putts. I mainly use it to help with my swing and tracking that data. I’ve had Arccos and I like this better. It’s cheaper and has more to offer, for me anyway. That’s not to say it’s perfect, sometimes it misses shots, but it’s easy to add them back in. The swing ID is its best feature and that’s more important to me.

Good morning, Spies!! Happy Saturday!

Heading out shortly to watch my youngest nephew play football on the jv team. They're only playing 2 quarters due to the fact both teams have been thinned out due to injuries. Then, my middle nephew plays soccer this evening. He's the starting goalkeeper and is a senior. Both games on the road, so lots of driving today.

I’ve decided today, that 20 years is plenty. I’m retiring in 2027.  Going to spend the next few years getting as good as I can at golf so I can pursue my dream job of working in the golf industry.  I came home from my daughters CC Meet (She’s going to State BTW!) and my wife and I pretty much said the same thing.  It’s time for a change.  Best mood I’ve had in 12 years.

So many times people don't really take the time or plan to make their life all that it possibly could be.
