JeremyD
right now, I blame the fact it's cold or raining on the weekends, after it's in the 60's/70's during the week. Nights don't work right now. Normally, though, it's dependent on the family plans. Am I hanging a 300 year old chair rail, or am I trying to plant grass since it's raining, or do I need to drive 60 minutes to change a battery in a dead car? Every weekend has been bringing a new surprise. Dweed, tdc1 and KCEE 3 Quote When my wife asked if I wanted to leave Maine and move to where she grew up, I couldn't say no to Pinehurst, NC. Bortery97
Work is the biggest hurdle as I am not home until about 4:30 pm. I am finding more time for practice when there's more daylight in the spring, but during the winter months practice is limited due to daylight restrictions. When I am capable, I enjoy playing 9 holes at my local course after work. I will play more as a practice round and put myself in situations where I struggle the most to get more comfortable in those situations when I play a full round with friends. SDunne
Definitely a few things - access and time being the clear ones. If we had a second car, I'm sure I'd get out a lot more than I currently do - the nearest course is a 10 minute drive away and when I do have the car I often pop down at lunchtime during the week for a chip and a putt or to use the nets. The nearest range I could go to at night is a lot further away which makes it tricky. On the weekends I have two young boys so can be tricky to find the time to carve out practice or even time for the course. I'm getting my eldest into it all though and that makes it a bit easier but it's a long game - he currently just loves whacking balls and getting me to watch so my actual practice time is not huge! Then again, I know the more we do it, the more independent he'll be and I love seeing him enjoy it. I'd love to build a home sim but that may require a lottery win of some sort!! Dweed
Generally, it's just that I don't feel like it. Sore? Tired? Lazy? I've learned that if I don't feel much like it forcing myself to do it usually results in poor results and that leads to frustrations. So I usually listen to my inner self. cnosil 1 Quote D- Ping G 400 SFT 16*- Adams Tight Lie 19*- Adams Tight Lie 4H- Ping G 400 5-U- Ping G 400 SW- Nike 56*- Ping Glide 2 P- Sub70 004 Mallet

Julius
for me it is work commitments that often times require travel and then I do try to keep some balance with home and away. My wife doesn't play golf but we travel together often times for fun, so while I will play golf occasionally on those trips I cannot do that always and leave her. So for me it is around finding the right balance between time away from my family and playing enough golf to be satisfied (which seems like the common story here and with my friends as well). I have time available but I keep spending it playing instead. Not wise. The Pro at my previous country club had some sound advice. I asked him to look at my swing and asked him what I needed to do to lower my scores. We went to the range he watched me hit some balls to specific targets. He then said to me, “If you want to lower your scores you need to play more. Your swing is fine. You not going to get course conditions on the range”. I took those words of advice home with me. “Honey Bob said I need to play more to get better”. It only took a couple days for the black eye to go away. Kidding. But I really did tell her and she said “ok do what you need to do”. But I lived by those words for the last 20 years. I’ll play instead of practice. Ever since then, if I had the time I played instead of hitting the range. I usually don’t even hit balls on the range before my tee time. I show up and just play. It works for me. I agree with the sentiment and I guess I really only feel the need to practice to work out a few wrinkles. Hitting the range for the sake of hitting the range really isn’t going to help. Right now my playing game gaps are hitting approach shots to specific yardages under 100 yards. Oh, and controlling my chips from various distances around the green. Otherwise, I would agree you will get better the more you play.
