New to the Forums, WITB.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

Small intro about myself, a previous lurker who mostly read the articles. I interact quite a bit on the 49ers fan forums, as a known frequent poster (10+ years). No better time than now to start posting on MyGolfSpy, as I am looking to join a local club and play more competitive formal rounds.

I got into golf about 2-3 years ago when my favorite person, my Pops, decided to retire and move to Palm Springs. I did not have much experience with golf in my youth, mostly the big-3 of baseball, basketball, and football. Played HS basketball and football, but not golf which was unfortunate for my scores while learning.

I am looking forward to interacting with the community here, I recently moved from So Cal to East Texas. I now work from my home office, and my time to dedicate to golf has greatly increased.

I play 2 to 4 times per month, weather permitting now living in TX versus CA. Also, I typically practice several times per week be it at the range or at home.

Now on to the clubs, I hope to get fitted sometime in the near future.

I am currently looking for a local club and a fitter in the area, and of course need to be ready for the expenditure in time and money to properly follow through.

I never have been big posting on social media or interacting there and only was a "forum guy" previously, but now I am starting to try it out. Fun times ahead.

(Edit was to add a note my 4i is not in play.)

Cheers.

Yes sir, Cleveland RTX(2 Zipcore, and then a full face 52).

I have 3 different finishes and models, not sure why, but that's how it ended up. Maybe subcontiously easier to reach for the right one for different scenarios.

Does anyone else use mix matched finishes, on purpose? If I consistently scored lower, I would say that is my "calling card", as I have not yet seen it done in others bags.

I have the stock set Ping g5 PW, then Cleveland wedges as: 52 Deg., 56 Deg., and 60 Deg. I guess I am "Wedge forward" in my bag with 4 wedges.

Tricky game golf is, putting a lot of effort into putting practice, but less wedge practice and my wedge game has suffered a bit. I am hoping moving and working from home will allow more time for both. I am going to guess that formal rounds in a challenge setting at a local club is the next step, and most beneficial to a lower handicap.

Cheers.

Welcome , this is a great place whether you’re great or beginner !

It really seems like the place to be, and welcoming to all levels. A lot to be learned here, effort is definately a requirement to really refine the game. It's a lifelong experience, that's for sure.

Kind of…got 56 and 60 degree Vokeys in the raw finish, then found a 52 that was all black.  Wasn’t really needing it, but it was so nice looking I decided I couldn’t pass it up.

I really like the black the most.

I have a somewhat hard time pounding black finishes into sand or unfavorable lies, as it looks fantastic...I settled on trying harder and focusing to have those scenarios very infrequently crop up.

Now mix-matched is my jam.

Also, that's why I started with the 52 in black over 56 and 60. The 60 in raw was a gift from my Pops, so it stays, heh.

Cheers.
