how to achieve a good golf swing

Recommended Posts

1) Junior players who learn sound fundamental address technique (grip-posture-alignment), and practice same, inevitably have good looking effective golf swings for their entire playing career. This is the path taken by just about every Tour pro of the past 50 years  as well as the current crop of competitive junior players worldwide.

2) Players who begin the game without sound fundamental address technique have a much, much more difficult time ever achieving a consistently effective, repeating swing.

3) An adult amateur player trying to improve usually applies band-aids and quick fixes to a swing which does not have the solid foundation that grip-posture-alignment provides.

4) Rather than teach fundamentally sound address technique, most current instructors offer band aids and quick fix tips .Most current instructors have no idea how or why grip-posture-alignment influence the entire swing.

5) Learning proper grip-posture-alignment is easy, but practicing same is time consuming.

6) From fundamentally sound grip-posture-alignment one's own good looking effective swing will naturally emerge, but it requires hundreds of hours of practice range time.

Based on your previous posts you are definitely seem to be anti-instructor and you don't believe most know how to teach golf correctly and that players would do better to just read a book.

While there is no argument that learning the fundamentals makes it easier to learn the swing you are failing to look at the player side.   Many golfers try to learn golf without lessons or learning GAP.   Most golfers seek band-aids and ask instructors not to completely overhaul their swing.  Golfers taking lessons also fail to practice what the instructor is teaching them or abandon what is taught because there isn't immediate improvement.  Players may also have physical limitations that inhibit their ability to have good fundamentals.   Players may also not be able to afford the former PGA pro that provides what you consider to be good instruction.   And finally just learning GAP does not produce a "good golf swing"; there are still things that need to be taught and don't naturally happen.

I guess I am confused on what you are trying to communicate other  than take lessons from someone that will build your golf swing starting with the basic fundamentals and don't move past GAP until you have mastered those skills.
