These are my general guidelines for tipping.

    • Valet $5 - especially if they take the bag out of the car
    • Person who sets up the cart $5-10 depending on whether the cart partner tips
    • Bev cart is around 20% rounded up to nearest $5
    • Caddies — always based on rank, and I usually check the caddie master. But typically 20% of the fee. I always offer to buy them a Gatorade, etc if we stop for something

This is pretty much my thing as well. I go on a couple golf trips a year, usually only have cart peeps and the bev cart to handle as far as tips go. Always make sure to have cash for the carts and tip well with the beverage tender.

Tale of sixes: Terrible first six (started on 10) good middle six and a couple bad breaks and didn’t score well on the final six. Great to get out; it’s ALL good!

Got to be Scottie. I can’t bring myself to root for him for some reason. Great golfer, just not a fan. That is until it’s time for the Ryder Cup. Then I’ll root for him. But PGA events, I just hope he loses.

I certainly don't dislike Scottie, and I'm a HUGE Ted Scott (his caddie) fan, but man Scottie does have the public personality of a wet sock. Wow. Most likely a brilliant move on his (and his teams' part...)

  4. Thanks to "Full Swing", it might be a trio: JT, Spieth & Rory. They all seem like entitled twits on that show. Perhaps it's reality TV and editing, but Full Swing didn't do them or Zach Johnson any favors. Of course Zach's outbursts with fans on the course since the Ryder Cup haven't helped his reputation much either.

Oh and I'm leading. First out the gate.

Also played Barassie in Ayrshire yesterday. It is just up the coast from Troon as it prepares for the Open.  Shot 85 but with a slope of 137 ended up with 13 strokes so ended up nett 72. I usually get a nose bleed on courses longer than 6500 and we played Whites at 6800. So happy with my 3 rounds so far this week.

West Lothian Airngarth Slope rating off yellow is 123 and rating is 69.7

Jealous; I've played in East Lothian (Kilspindie, Craigelaw, Renaissance, Dunbar & North Berwick). Want to get back so badly I can almost taste the Belhaven!

We have a group of 8 guys doing a quick weekend in northern Michigan this weekend.

Friday is Champion Hill, Saturday is Arcadia South Course, and Sunday is Arcadia Bluffs.

Arcadia is on my bucket list, so I'm praying the rain holds off for both Saturday and Sunday.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Haven't played Champion Hill, but both Arcadia courses are in my top ten favorites.  Side note: If you have time, you can literally drive 30 minutes and be at the clubhouse of Crystal Downs. No security gate to negotiate, just drive up to the pro shop.  You can see about six holes from that vantage point. Worth seeing, as most will never get the opportunity to play there. (I got lucky last Summer!)

With no dress code, what next, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria...

Relax Francis, as long as they keep up, repair ballmarks and divots, what they wear doesn't really concern me.

Are we doing the human sacrifice to celebrate a birdie, or to conjure one up from the Gods? Dress codes are one thing, but there have to be RULES, man!!

So my course's pro shop credit ends in March of each year. Last year was a decent year for me so I had a good bit to spend. I recently was fitted and ordered a new Scotty Cameron Newport Plus. I have really been struggling with putting lately. Which is typically the strongest part of my game. Anyways. I got a new putter and its sitting in my office! haha! I haven't put it in the bag quite yet. Obviously as soon as I had the putter ordered, my current gamer (Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5) started making everything. Not changing until I need to haha.

Like a dog headed to the vet, golf clubs “know” when there’s a potential replacement lurking… 😂

  9. I’ll be out of town but will probably record this and maybe watch later. Hopefully they won’t put a muzzle on Max. His sarcasm might be the only thing I’ll look forward to in this one. Hopefully Lexi can make a putt or two.
