Great stage 2, Alan! A lot of very interesting information there. I'm curious to hear what everyone else thinks of them.

Excellent write up! I would agree with you about the offset as well.

Thanks. Have a lot of time invested in this. It's tough to evaluate these things. Have countless hours of note taking, photo sessions, playing, more notes. Comparing notes... probably took up more time than my "real" job. But a helluva lot more fun!

Great Stage 2 Shanks. Love the honesty. Based on your review, these wouldn't be a good fit for me but that's way more valuable than a fluff piece. Well done!

If anyone has specific questions about anything in my Stage 2 please let me know. I am ready to elaborate in more detail if possible about why I don't like the long irons.

Or if anyone wants/needs to see more pictures.

I'd like to see pictures of the long iron offsets you didn't like. I saw the 6 comparison but didn't notice the 3,4,5

I'll get those up later this morning. But there is the pic of the 7 iron vs the 3 iron in the Q & A for TSauer for now. I only have the 4 and 5 iron right now. Just sent the 3 iron back. I'll get some of the face height compared to my gamer long irons too.

Great stage 2 review, Shanks. Lots of info and the honesty of the it really came through. These irons look terrific and seem to be performing nicely.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully it was informative.

Looks great man its nice to see that your distances are similar to mine. I know the feeling of small long irons with the ones I just bought being very tiny. Its funny that the sound is so different in the x versions.

I thought that too, they usually sound harsher off the face to me, but they all worked well.

Great stage 2 Shanks! I really liked how you wrote it in phases showing your progression through testing

Thanks, I have some more notes for the Stage 3, and only gathering new info every day. The weather is finally nice and I plan to be playing or practicing every day till October 1st.

Shankster, had to read your Stage 2 in two parts.   Very well done, I love the depth and honesty of your comments.  That's what we expect and hope for on MGS and you delivered.  I like how you incorporated the videos and your pictures as usual were phenomenal.

I know how much work goes into a well done review, and really apprieciate the effort int this one.   I tried a friends I 200's a couple weeks ago on the range. I also found them very unforgiving for my 17 index swing.   Lots of mishits, which ok are  my fault not the clubs, but the results were drastically different than with my current Srixons.

Thanks CG2, can't wait for your JPX review. Testing these things definitely makes me want to go hit as many types, and brands to see what I am missing out on.

Yep, I can't wait to bring it to the forum. So many great testings going on now with MGS and the members are all killing it!

What products have you used to clean the grooves? I'm in need to giving them a clean but don't wanna scratch up the face on the irons!

Just like jlukes said. I bought a 10 pack of nylon brushes from Ace hardware for like $5, they'll last me a lifetime.

Here's the offset of the 4 and 5 iron.

Well that's not as bad as I pictured. But still a non starter.

At the range today I was trying to hit a fade with the 5 iron they would start left start to turn right then fall off to the left. I've had this happen on the course too. Not sure if this is the offset, or some PFM stuff.
