cksurfdude
Played the last Saturday in Feb. shot a 88 not bad since the week before on the range every shot was a S***k. Lots of rust built up in just 2 months. I assume even typing that word here might get me banned. Nah... some posters use the euphemism "Alan". cksurfdude
Well... back at the beginning of the year I'd posted that I might not get my first rounds of '18 in until late March - early April ... and I was right.... Lately we've had a few snowstorms and occasional flurries, and pretty much every other day has been chilly and windy, sometimes really gusty. A lot of rain, too..... Only one or two actual Spring-like days; one of which I was able to get to an outdoor range. AND IT"S A FULL ON WINTER STORM TODAY!! TODAY = THE SECOND DAY OF "SPRING"!!! We're supposed to end up with up to a foot or more of heavy, wet snow by the time it ends....... So we're heading out to Palm Springs, CA and then to San Diego for a vacay for 9 days ... and that's when and where my season will start! Hopefully I will have some happy news about those rounds to report!!! WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... pkersj
The first round of the season for me is always a bit of a craps shoot, never know what I'm going to get. This year was overall better than expected, it definitely helps that it was a beautiful day in an otherwise pretty rainy Oregon spring. I usually expect my swing to be in a funk but other than not centering the ball on the face well and knowing how far the ball would go, it was a solid round. I ended the round maybe 10ish shots above an average round after I've been playing regularly. Shot direction and shape, chipping, and putting were all pretty settled in after a few holes, just couldn't find the sweet spot well on full strokes. Even better and consistent weather is just around the corner and hopefully my swing follows suit!
Kanoito
Ah, so I got to play for the first time this year... no snow, no rain and acceptable temps 10C (50F) -Iron play was definitely rusty... a lot of thinned shots. -Bunker play was 50/50... made a sandy par on one hole but took 4 shots to get out of another bunker to card a 8. -Putting was also 50/50... made everything inside 8 ft, but left all long putts short. I'm not worried about this, since the greens are getting their first haircut today. So once they go back to normal speeds. What really surprised me? My driver! This has always been my weakness, getting penalized off the tee. But that round... omg... I hit 13/14 fairways and so long... reaching a par 5 in 2. The only fairway I didn't hit was the last one. After a 5 month winter break, fatigue was setting in and I couldn't turn properly, so of course I was using more arms and ended up pulling 2 drives OB. Look forward to the rest of the season!
