ballplayer002003
Hey gang, So I am looking at setting up our annual trip for next summer for 8 guys. Traditionally we go to Pinehurst (past 15 years), but now the group has thought about expanding our horizons. We are looking at playing some obviously nice courses while keeping the cost relatively cost friendly (under $1,500ish). We are all on the East Coast but we are not opposed to travel. Here are some ideas so far: 1. Rent an Airbnb and play Bethpage Black and Red (one of our guys is a NY resident so he could book the tee time for black) and hit a few other courses in NY or NJ. 2. Play Ocean City Maryland courses (we are only about an hour from there). 3. Greenbrier WV 4. TPC Sawgrass We are open to anything except Myrtle Beach, we have done that too, if there is any trips that you have gone on that are worth looking into please let me know your thoughts! Thanks Spys kfoody 1 Quote Driver: Epic Flash Sub Zero Hzdrs Smoke x flex 70g 3 Wood: 917 w/ Diamana Whiteboard stiff 5 Wood : Epic Flash 18* Hzdrs Smoke stiff 4 Hybrid: TSi3 Hzdrs Smoke X flex Irons: 5-7 Apex forged 19 w/ Modus 120 X 9-A Apex Pro 19 w/ Modus 120 X Wedges: MD5 52&56 Jaws Dynamic Gold wedge flex Putter: Scotty Cameron Phantom 5.5 34"
Golfspy_CG2
Pinehurst is hard to top, as I know you're aware. What about the RTJ Trail? Another up and coming destination they can be had for a good price is Top of the Rock in Branson,MO. If you haven't heard of it, Google it. The views and courses are stunning. jfergus7, kfoody, ballplayer002003 and 1 other 4 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

Good suggestion - there are some quality courses in and around Top of the Rock. Tiger is actually working on a design near Big Cedar Lodge that pays tribute to Payne Stewart. sixcat
I would stick with the Long Island idea. Plenty of quality in and around that area besides Bethpage as well. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy ballplayer002003
RickyBobby_PR
Lots of options. How many rounds in how many days? RTJ trail as mentioned is a great option for variety and proximity to multiple courses. Summer time in NY/NJ is going to traffic loaded especially weekends. If distance isn’t an issue San Diego has a bunch of courses within a 45-60 minute drive of just about anywhere in the SD area. If thinking about Florida the stream song resort gets good reviews ballplayer002003 and kfoody 2 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1
ballplayer002003
These are all great ideas, thanks guys. We are looking at playing 4-8 rounds in maybe a five day trip. I know it's vague but I need to make sure everyone in the group is on the same page with rounds. Top of the Rock looks great but the RTJ Trail seems like more our direction. I will also look into Streamsong, a guy at my club mentioned it as well. I have a lot of time, so if you guys go on any trips that you absolutely loved, let me know. Thanks again!!! kfoody 1 Quote Driver: Epic Flash Sub Zero Hzdrs Smoke x flex 70g 3 Wood: 917 w/ Diamana Whiteboard stiff 5 Wood : Epic Flash 18* Hzdrs Smoke stiff 4 Hybrid: TSi3 Hzdrs Smoke X flex Irons: 5-7 Apex forged 19 w/ Modus 120 X 9-A Apex Pro 19 w/ Modus 120 X Wedges: MD5 52&56 Jaws Dynamic Gold wedge flex Putter: Scotty Cameron Phantom 5.5 34"
Maltenator
My brother-in-law myself and the rest of the wedding party, went to Mesa/Scottsdale for my B-in-law's Bachelor party. We went in late Feb, early March. We were able to fit 4 rounds in, 3 spring Training games, and an NHL game in over 6 nights 5 days flew in on Fri night, and left Wed., all for about 250-280 per night not including meals or tickets to the games. It would be much less expensive without the MLB, and NHL games, but the tickets weren't expensive and got to see some good and upcoming ball players. GO CUBBIES! Flights aren't that expensive, you can get good deals on the courses, it's not unbearably hot yet, and the courses were all amazing. There are packages out there for unlimited golf that I just saw for 4 days and 3 nights for $175 a night. Just a thought, that you could look into. TwoCoatsOfWax
TPC Sawgrass would have my vote. The Players is my favorite tournament to watch after The Masters so it's at the top of my bucket list. There are a lot of great courses all over the place, but for a special trip I would be partial to courses you get to see on TV.

TR1PTIK
If you don't watch any of their stuff already, I highly recommend watching Tourist Sauce and Strapped on the No Laying Up YouTube channel. Both series are all about taking trips with buddies - Tourist Sauce is on the more extravagant/expensive side and Strapped is all about golf on a budget. Hopefully you'll see something you like and at the very least should get the juices flowing for a good trip idea. sixcat, Maltenator and kfoody 3 Quote Driver: ST190 9.5* Fujikura Atmos Blue 5S Fairway Wood: ST190 15* Fujikura Atmos Blue 6S Hybrid: CLK 17* Fujikura Speeder EVO HB Irons: J40 CB (3-PW) Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 Wedges: Milled Grind 2 54* & 58* Dynamic Gold S200 Putter: Tri-Hot 5k Two 34" Bag: Players 5 Stand Bag Ball: Maxfli Tour

Flog4
I just did a OC,MD trip. Played Baywood, Bayside, Rum Pointe, Lighthouse, Eagles Landing. Did Myrtle two weeks prior. with Dunes, TPC, TB, Caledonia and Reserve. Myrtle was a tad nicer. Was a tad more $ too. Nemocolin has two great courses and is within drive distance. Have been to Streamsong a few times. Don't think you can do 5 days there at $1500. Look at Black Diamond stay and play...and 20 miles away is World Woods. ballplayer002003
So the guys on the trip want to do Bethpage, we are going to rent an Airbnb and then on the last day or two, camp out in the parking lot to play the Black course so we get the FULL experience. My question now, what are some really good must play public places near Bethpage or NYC for that matter. I have played Trump National Ferry Point so that is probably on the list again and we plan on playing the red and black course but other then these what else? The group consists of scratch golfers to 16 hcp. so we are up for anything.
