parrothead59
I have always questioned Ralph Matlby's Playability Factor system of identifying forgiving game improvement clubs versus those not so forgiving. During my time teaching golf technology schools back in my Golfsmith days I created an iron that would be "superior" to any that Maltby offered by having a Playability Factor over 1,000. Ladies and Gentlemen may I introduce you to The Big Ralph. PFI >1,000 Technically this iron should have been extremely forgiving and easy to hit. In actuality it was like striking a golf ball with a hockey stick. The sweet spot was impossible to find and the only way I saw golfers hit is well was teed up well above the turf. Anyway this is my Maltby story . . . . . . . Popeye64 and vandyland

You could start with a CB grip like a Superstroke or a CB plug like one of these. They go up to 100g which is pretty substantial. My Edel weighs over 600g total but has 60g down the shaft and an 80g grip. Total weight is heavy but swinging weight and efficiency are spot on. Lag putts went from being a weakness to a total strength. KOG
Here is my current set of irons, the ke4 Max 5-8 and the Ts3 9,pw Then it goes to a honma 48 and some wilson staff wedges. I Used Maltby Max wedges but changed from 52/58 to 54/60 wilson staff wedges. I attached a pic of the ke4 max and maltby max prior to adding ts3 clubs Also attached is the Hyway 7 wood which is super easy to hit. And a Maltby Black Japan Milled putter with unique insert. I love the ke4max/ts3 mixed set and almost every Maltby item ive tried. Gemba2
Slowly replacing my PW - 6i Ping G's with Maltby STi2 irons. I'm putting them on Aldila NV Graphite iron shafts, senior-65. Started In Jan testing just the 6i. Then bought 7i and 8i. I was going to stop with the 9i, but I just can't help myself. I just got the PW and shaft yesterday. I'm and older guy with a 13 hcp so still need the forgiveness. The Maltby's are great. Actually picked up some additional yardage. I will definitely be looking at testing a wedge later in the year. My CBX2's are getting a little worn.

Golfermike
I currently play the Maltby SPI2 irons (7 - GW) and LOVE them. I built them myself using Kura Kage R flex shafts and Golf Pride midsize Tour Velvet grips. I like Maltby clubs because I can make only the clubs I want since I carry Ping driver, 3 & 5 wood, and 4,5,&7 hybrids. I also carry a Cleveland sand wedge and Wilson putter. Finally, I play the Srixon Z-Star ball and use Kirkland gloves. Maltby makes great clubs and are much cheaper than the OEM brands. Deepred
I played my first round with a new set of TE irons with the NV85 shafts. Full shots were very good everything else not so much. I’m thinking I will drop the PW and GW and carry my KE4 Tour* GW. The Tour+ has a DG SL X100 8 iron shaft and I have a lot of confidence in that club. Just a few swipes in my garage on my hitting mat in a net. I'm going to the PGATSS this afternoon to dial in distances and get a feel for the flight shape and really get a good sense for the overall feeling. Of course nothing will compare to hitting off of grass. It's getting close to 100° here in AZ so outdoor range sessions are winding down. So far though these feel primo good! I'll definitely report back after hitting 100 or so shots at PGATSS.
