AGutierrez7
Got a little question for my fellow 3 wood testers. What are you guys looking for during testing? An alternative tee ball club? Something to reach the green in two? Or maybe a little bit of both? For me, I think it's both but mainly for the tee when I need a little bit more control over the ball on tighter fairways. For me it is something that helps me reach the green in 2 on long par 4's (or where I duff my drive lol) and on short par 5's (never have had an eagle opportunity on a putt). I hit my 3H fairly well but on my best days i get about 220 out of it so still comes up short on most par 5's and long par 4's. I will use the 3W on tee shots for positioning. I rarely will use it to go for a green as I’m looking for about 260-270 yards out of it. My 20* driving iron goes about 240 and my driver about 290-300. I would want this club to fill that gap. I’m also looking for accuracy. I’m using this club to find fairways when it’s too tight or to layup to a number on the shorter par 4’s. I can hit a pretty good knockdown with it off of the turf or take it high. I use my current 3 wood off of the tee a lot at my course. Its very tight and I need a lot of control over where the ball finishes. Since I started collecting data for this test, I'm driving it about 245 off of the tee. I'm currently hitting the green with about 30% of my shots from about 235 out, and 70% are in a 15yd distance variance length wise. Cannot wait to get it in hand, the shipping notification could not come any faster I hear ya. Playing a fun track tomorrow near the house that really sits up well for a driving iron. Of course in testing you could the UiHi on every non par 3, but this course gives plenty of opportunities without forcing it too much. Could play with score in mind as not a practice round. I'll come back to this course when I do have the Hogan UiHi in hand. #2 - 313 yard par 4 with a waste area in front of the green. 225 in the fairway is a great shot. #3- 580 yard par 5. Plays as a 3 shot hole. Could advance the ball with driving iron on second shot. #6 - 191 yard uphill par 3. Normally would hit a 23* hybrid, but would try a punchy knockdown shot. #7 - 596 yard pay 5. Again a 3 shot whole, second shot over water. Need a reliable club to advance the ball. #8 - 210 yard par 3. Water on the right. Probably take some of it, open it up a bit, and see if I can get it to land soft at all. Good test to hold greens. #9 - 375 yard par 4, but with water right center at about 250. Driver is risky, so the UiHi will be perfect. #13 - 508 yard par. Can reach in two. Will try to run the UiHi up there on the second shot. #14 - 374 par 4, but near 90 dog leg left. Fairway runs out at 250, and you cant cut the corner or draw it because there is a huge 80 yard waste area guarding the green. Straight 225 is perfect. #16 - 419 yard par 4. Hardest hole on the course. Large waste area 240 out and the fairways narrows as you approach that distance. 200 yards is has the best landing area but usually you push for 220-230 just to shorten the second shot which is uphill to a narrow green. Should be a good hole for the UiHi. Depending on the wind, could even hit it twice. #17 - 525 yard par 5. Fairway curves left the entire way to a very well protected green. Forces me to play as a 3 shot par 5, but UiHi on the second should set up a short wedge in. Crowev01
I got the call today too.. I have almost 500 turkey orders to get done before next Thursday and that club showing up will be sweet, sweet balm for the soul. After all the overtime I'm looking at next week, I'm considering a tee time at a course by the ocean to unwind and let this thing rip. I mean, I, excuse me, we deserve it. Right? jb0330, Nolan220 and AGutierrez7 3 Quote Titleist 975J Callaway Hawkeye 3 Wood Ben Hogan CFT Hybrid, Apex Plus Irons Cleveland 588 Wedges Scotty Newport 2 Mid Slant Pro Platinum
