Popular Post Thin2win
Stage 1: The tooth fairy disguised as a fedex delivery driver just dropped off a dull brown box on my door step. Earlier this month I decided to take advantage of the taylormade black Friday 20% off deal and order up a myspiderx. The website was mostly user friendly, not very good on my mobile, I had to switch to my desktop for it to really work with the preview pane. But after 15 or so minutes of playing around with color options I clicked purchase. My order was placed on Dec 4th, and I received it today, Dec 29th. I'm sure at non Christmas non world pandemic it would have gotten here a few days earlier. I decided to get the Spider X for the same reasons most of us try a new putter; having spent zero time practicing my putting over the last 4 months I've seen my putts per round take a sharp turn in the wrong direction. Knowing that the solution was a new pretty putter and not actual practice effort the 20% off sale was just enough to break out the visa... That gets us to today, and the aforementioned fedex tooth fairy. It was packaged safe enough I think, nothing crazy one way or the other. It came with a packing slip that shows it was inspected 3 times before shipping, and sure enough it came exactly as I ordered it, 33" of never missing a putt again. As you can see, I went with a light blue /black /orange theme. I feel pretty good about the price, given that I will never miss a putt again, it might even be a bargain. Coming in stage 2 I will be verifying its 100% make rate, and will even give my Evnroll a chance to fight for its place in the bag. So stay tuned for that. My one complaint so far, the head cover... It kinda sucks. It uses velcro and it looks bleh. I get that nice things cost money, apparently a nearly $400 putter isn't enough money to warrant a nice head cover. It's should be magnetic, and it should be customized to match your putter colors. If nothing else they could have at least followed roygbiv in the lettering so I could stop being annoyed by that. Ordering : 8/10, minus 2 for website not being mobile friendly Shipping : 10/10 as expected, no issues Matching my order specs: 10/10 Head Cover: 2/10. It does fit. Last comment of stage 1; you get the option to do different color face plates. Red, blue, orange, etc... But if you pick any color other than white, you don't get the pureroll face. It will come with a docent sounding /feeling face that will perform slightly different. The website doesn't mention that, and I only found out reading through the reviews on the TM website. I can't 100% verify this to be true, but I can say that if you preview other color face plates, they do not say pureroll on them like the white one does. So I believe it to be true. I agree about the headcover. It would be so nice with some customization options, and a magnetic closure. I love how soft the leather is on it though. Once I get around to putting today I’ll throw in some photos of mine! I will say this, the putter performs! Thin2win
The weather here has been just beautiful. 45 degrees, Gale force winds and and inch of so of rain every day. It has made getting out to the course for testing a challenge. But the skies cleared for enough time for me to run out and get 9 holes in. My first reaction is to be very impressed, I guess I can see why it seems like half the tour uses one of these. Distance seems to be basically the same as my ER2. But it does sound much more muted at impact. The thing I liked the most about it, is that it is so easy to start the ball online. Really really easy. My biggest complaint, no sweet face tech. My take away with it comes right into the slot I want it to. Which has been the biggest knock I've had on the evnroll, it aways wants to drift outside on my takeaway. Scooby456
Thank you both for the feedback. The rounded bottom had me feel like the face was pointing up (adding loft) upon initial setting the club down to address the ball. Glad to know you’ve been able to adjust well. Like you, I struggle with drifting outside on the takeaway and am looking to move on from the blade. Quote Swing away!

Thin2win
2nd performance update: Definitely the easiest putter I have ever used to get the ball started on line. I'm sure there are a number of factors that make that happen. I think for me the biggest is that I can bring this club back and through without it flying away from me and outside my desired swing plane. It has been so much easier for me to get the ball rolling on line then with my ER2. I'll have to wait for some shotscope stats to back it up, and maybe I could just go old fashion and actually count, but I think I'm making more putts in that 5-15 range then I ever have. I do wish it had the EvnRoll face tech, and I know Mr. Rife said he was releasing his version of the Spider(the ER10 I think). That might be goldilocks. But, my putter budget is spent for the next couple years Definitely a good putter, the slant next works perfect for my swing. And the ball comes off rolling down the line I want it to more often than I could manage with the ER2. My wife has now even built it up on the TM website thinking that she needs one. I'm not going to argue with her. She gets more new clubs than I do, that way she doesn't get to complain when I do get some Quote WITB: Driver: SIM2 Max 12° - Accra TZ6 M4 FW Wood: Gen5 0311 7w Fujikura Motore X F3 Irons: ZX7 PW-7i, ZX5 6i-5i Wedges: Zipcore 50°, 58° Putter: MySpider X Cart: Onewheel XR+ Ball: Z-Star Diamond/ Z-Star XV
Thin2win
Final thoughts. This putter is staying in a bag, just not mine. My wife has claimed it. It really is the best putter inside 6' I've ever used. But outside 20' my speed control with it is horrid. I might go back to it in the summer with faster greens, but right now it has lead to an uptick in 3 putts from distance. Mostly due to to being much lighter than I'm used to. So for now, Er2 is staying around. Thin2win
I spent some time getting used to the distance control for the Myspider X and used it for a tournament this weekend. 27 Putts. And two <1" tap ins. 6 of 6 from the 5'- 12' range. It's in the bag, I've updated my sig. It is here to stay. Now I need to find a better head cover for it because I still hate the one it comes with.
