"Mr. 72"
I just had a driver/3 wood fitting at a local course by a Callaway rep. My swing speed was between 93-96 that day. Here's his recommendations that I think I'm going with.... Driver: Smoke Triple Diamond with a Ventus AV Blue 65 stiff flex. He really like the low side spin numbers. 3 wood: Smoke Max D with a Cypher 50 regular flex. Can't get much more polar opposite than those two setups, huh? Mr_BogeyPro
I am still using the Callaway Rogue ST. This past Friday I did bomb the drive of my life. A 347-yard drive down the middle. I hit into the group ahead of us, not thinking I was going to drive it down there that far. Had 48 yards to the green. I was thinking about the AI Smoke, but on ebay the price is still a bit high. archship
Callaway Rogue ST Max with Fujikura Ventus 5S: I got it last year when I bought new clubs for the first time in two decades. I hit it anywhere from 230 to 250 with an 80% fairway rate and the other 20% is pretty evenly distributed in the short rough on both sides. Very forgiving. I would say it is the single biggest reason my handicap went from 10 to 6 last fall. Bortery
I play with the Ping G425, and couldn’t love it more. I was an old school guy until I found this one. Being able to move the weight to adjust balance is worth every penny. I found a forum thread(not this one) that suggested taking two 13g weights (which equals the 26g weight it comes with) and attach them on each end of the adjustment spots. They stated it would hit solid and with a little more forgiveness, and they could not have been more correct. I love my G425 so much I am going to add the fairway drivers soon. The technology is great and price point is right on for even the budget based golfer. golfjunky79, arodrig29 and ZJeb67 3 Quote I am a golfer that is getting back into the game. The 13.5 wasnt much more than a strong 3 wood replacement. With the shorter shaft it is a fairway finder and still decently long in the right setup. Let me know what you think when you get yours. kovek
Still happy with my Callaway Epic GBB, it's my first and current driver. I've been playing with different shafts these years. Having said that, I'm still in the hunt for a new driver. I love the Taylormade M6 family (got hybrid and 3w), but I need to adjust my driver from time to time due to the work that I'm doing to my swing, so M5 could be an option. I've tested the TM Qi10 drivers and I didn't really see any significant improvements apart from feeling the heads look too big at address (apparently this is common for people playing Callaway drivers). They are forgiving, but I ended up being more inconsistent in my strikes. Next week I'll get my hands on the Ping 430 drivers, I've heard a lot of good things about them (including the improved sound) Would love to try the new Paradym drivers soon... arodrig29
Old-ish faithful for me. I was fitted for the Tour Ad IZ-6 shaft a few Callaway models ago and have just been updating the heads as they are released. Thus far the Rogue ST Max has not only been the most forgiving and consistent, but also the longest. Sherlock
Went to try out some drivers because I just love trying the new stuff. Had the TSR2 with ventus shaft previous to the fitting and didnt plan on getting anything new. After trying most of the major brands’ new driver, the fittter handed me the Ping 430 LST…smh. It was going 25-30 yards longer and way better dispersion than any other new club and my current TSR2. Sooooooo, I will be gaming the Ping 430 LST with the VA composites SYNYSTR shaft this season!! Greendan32
I had every intent of getting a new driver or at least a new shaft this year. I am hitting the 1st Gen TM Stealth with a Mitsubishi Liquid Shaft and an all black head. I took it down to a fitter and had him go through shafts, drivers heads, all kinds of launch changes and nothing was any better for me than the combo I have. He said he wished he could sell me a new driver, but it wouldn’t be worth it.
