Eagle12
Hi everyone, Do most people have 2 or more Drivers and Putters? If so, can you let me know why? Is it a good thing to have multiples of them both? Thank you and happy golfing!! Rob Person and Dweed 2 Quote Thanks, Aaron J. Eagle Email Address: aeagle124@gmail.com Link to comment

cnosil
People have multiples of drivers, irons, wedges, putters because they like to try different things or just enjoy collecting them. I like putters; I see them as works of art and occasionally I like a different look. The number of putters I own goes up and down based current mood and if I am looking to get something different. Its neither good or bad to have multiples; just depends on you and if you want to own multiples. Well when it comes to putters you can never have too many in my view. You never know when the first hundred or so you try are going to misbehave. I honestly could not tell you how many backups I have kicking around for all the clubs in my bag but it is a lot. I have six or seven irons sets in the club rack that I can think of, several drivers, a bunch of fairway woods and hybrids and who knows how many wedges. MR237
Hi there! I do carry multiple drivers and putters in my bag. For me, having two drivers is about versatility—one driver is optimized for distance on open fairways, while the other gives me better control when accuracy is key. As for putters, I keep a couple because I find that my putting style can change depending on the green speed or how I’m feeling on a particular day. Eagle12 1 Quote Link to comment
Harrison Gui
I have 3 putters. One blade that was my dad’s that I don’t use much as I prefer mallet putters but is good to change it up whenever I feel like I’m in a rut. It’s an old h2s2 but it still hits great. Then I have a Cleveland milled 11 which was the first putter I bought. Great putter and holds up to the big names in terms of quality (I just wish it had a top sightline so I added my own with enamel paint). And I recently bought a Scotty Cameron Futura 6m. Did I need it? No. Did I love he look of the alien spaceship that SC has tried to pass off as a golf club? So much so that I needed to get one to try it. Much more forgiving due to the extreme weight in the back of the club and, despite being a mallet like the Cleveland, hits entirely different so I actually keep both in my bag at all times so I can switch mid round if I’m not feeling the one I started with. all of this being said, it is entirely unnecessary imo. Nice to be able to switch whenever but if you have a putter that you like, no need to get something new just to try AndySP, Eagle12 and Stuka44 3 Quote From Western NY playing game improvement clubs. JDHolmes
HAHAHAHA. You asked. Not laughing at you, but for my response. I'm one of the original club hoes.Current drivers - Ping G425 max 9.0 (daily used), Ping G400 10.5 (payment for sevices), cobra XB 10.5, because I wanted a Cobra to use my handmade blue shaft, Cally Mavrik 10.5, Cally Epic Max 12.0 because I wanted a 14 driver to hit over trees (I also use this with 5 wood shaft as a 200yd club off the teebox),Cally Epic Max 10.5 because it was cheap and I have shafts, Cally Big Bertha 13.5 turned up to 15.5 for the tree issue in maddle of fairways. This number is down from 17 drivers two years ago. Downsized.Putters...I currently have 27 usable putters. I'm using 4 though most often. TM spider, Scotty 5 (broke and fixed), odyssey I just order custom to replace the scotty but fixed it two days after ordering, two ball track I use for very fast greens. (I sold 25 good putters when I sold 15 drivers, five full sets and a bunch of other stuff)IT'S NOT THE INDIAN, IT'S THE ARROW. If you are asking, as it seems to me, is it necessary to have two or more, to use and switch them up because you out of the blue can't keep a ball on the course off the tee, or in one round can't make a single putt under 4 feet, when this was not a real issue in the previous 3 or four rounds, then it is a HARD NO! I have a putter from 2011, and have no intention of EVER changing it( I like it, it feels good to me, and that is all I need to have confidence in it). If I want to MAKE MORE putts, I PRACTICE MORE putts!! If I'm having a bad day driving the ball, when I know for a fact(that I have had a great day driving the ball, WITH THE SAME CLUB), so it's not the club, I hit less than driver off the tee depending on hole length. Firebird
I have had a few drivers but only ever had one I gamed at the time. I have had 3 putters in 50+ years. A Titlist Bullsye, Calaway Big Bertha and my current one, A Cobra Stingray. Still have the other two, I always used to go back to the Bullseye, but then I accidentally bent it, had it straightened but was not the same. What makes me laugh is to hear guys saying that they spent $1000 on a new Driver bit are using a crappy putter and keep complaining how bad their putting is. The one question I ask them is..... What club do you used most on course. AndySP
Do you mean in the bag at one time or just owned? I have one driver, and will only replace it if it breaks. I own a few putters though. One is my old Scotty putter I used in HS, the other is what I bought a few years ago, and the last is actually a new Evnroll that I have been testing in another thread here (shameless plug). I don’t think you need multiples of anything unless you are a pro. Personally, once I decide on something that works I don’t like to horde extra clubs. I tend to trade-one-buy-one, with a few exceptions for sentimental value. Thinking about it though, I do also have an old m4 hybrid I need to trade, haha.
