I’ve golfed off and on for many years. I never really dedicated a lot of time to it. But in 2019 my job was eliminated and that afforded me the opportunity of time. I’m now semi-retired, working 40 hours a month. I decided to give more time to golf and this year purchased a Monday thru Thursday membership at a local course. My wife encouraged it. I dabble in photography. When I lived in the Pacific Northwest, I was 10 minutes from the Boeing factory and Paul Allen’s Flying Heritage Museum so I’d spend time there taking pictures.

Beware the drug dealer offering free samples, or the printer manufacturer almost giving away the printer. They get you addicted so you are on the hook for more drugs / ink cartridges / ongoing Arccos subscription fees. I'll stay with Shot Scope which does not charge me anything after I've initially purchased the device and sensors.
I plan on canceling prior to the end of the free trial.

It appears that I will be becoming an Arccos Caddie user. I have several Ping clubs in my bag and I got an email from Ping offering 14 free sensors for qualifying clubs. You submit your email address and the serial number of one of your Ping clubs. In my case I used the serial number from my G410 Crossover. That qualified me for the sensors and 45 days of Arccos Caddie. I was curious about the program so this I good shot at trying it out. I may invest in the Caddie Link now.

This won't reach BergRyman status but I feel pretty cool being able to share the experience...besides, the reward is a new club so, win win right?
I'm hoping to get a couple swings with the new Tensei Orange Raw to see how that plays / feels.
@Berg Ryman has set the bar rather high on fitting reports, starting with the restaurant review.

I’ve been eyeing the Phantom X 11 but I’m also considering the 2019 X7.5 . What’s the general consensus between the aluminum face/body versus the stainless steel one? At this point I’m waiting until they hit my local store so I can compare them. I tend to like a softer feeling putter.

Two days in a row of banging drivers, yesterday at a demo day featuring PXG, Callaway, Ping and Taylormade, and again today at the PGASS testing yesterday’s winner against the Cobra Rad XB I ordered a week ago.
I ended up canceling the Cobra order and took home a 10.5* Epic Max with Hazardous Smoke i-10 5.5 50g shaft.
After using my gift card balance I could have gotten it for nothing out of pocket if I traded my G400 Max, but that club is a security blanket for me, and no way I was going to give it up for $125.
I can’t part with my G400 Max even after reading the Most Wanted Driver report.

Thanks Sam...I’ll definitely check these out. I was rotating between this, Counter Culture “big trouble” and the occasional Tim Hortons just because. I’ve always loved good black coffee and as I age I’d prefer to use money I’d spend on beer or other non essentials on a good cup. I discovered Peet’s on accident on a family trip / wedding to SF Bay. The Air BnB had a communal, non-perishable leftover policy that allowed us to try the prior tenants coffee preferences. That happened to be Major Dickason’s blend and the rest is history. We were waking up drinking coffee to this view...(this is sunset but you get the point)
Major Dickinson is a regular in Costco. I used to get it but I’m the only coffee drinker and it took me awhile to get through it. A few years ago Costco would roast coffee in stores. They stopped due to fires I believe. It was super fresh and amazing. After discovering that coffee drunk closest to its roasting date is the best I decided to try local in smaller bags. No going back.

I found a local roaster, FoJo Beans, when I volunteered at the Military Courtesy Room at Hancock Airport. They have a blend I’ve become addicted to, Dirty Morning. They describe it as a Radical Roast Blend of coffee the Americas and Indonesia. It’s my go to coffee.

Good to know, I love the west coast. I have family in Alameda, Napa and my brother just moved back east from Oakland.
There's a couple more CNY guys here most notably @Berg Rymanif you weren't aware. I'm a LeMoyne grad living in Rochester, if we can ever organize a round in the Cuse we'll send it out.
My parents and one of my sisters are in Sacramento. My other sister and son are in Southern California.
I discovered @Berg Ryman through his exceptional putter post.
I’m also a grad from a Jesuit school, Regis University in Denver.
A round would be great if you don’t mind playing with a hacker .

I’ve only been there once in college and the pizza was incredibleAnother Upstate / CNY golfer . For some reason I focused on your photo and thought you were in the Bay Area.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area, lived in the Seattle area for 17 years and now live in CNY. Utica Pizza has a restaurant in North Syracuse.

As you can see I enjoy my custom covers. These are all from brands instead of being made by a specific custom cover group. You've got Oahu Golf Apparel, Almigos and Oak & Anchor.
Sent from my SM-G950U using MyGolfSpy mobile app
Ohh, I forgot about Almigos. I have one of their ball markers. They did a “In-n-Out Burger” looking putter cover that looked awesome.

I just finished reading the MGS article on custom headcovers. They didn’t mention the company that I purchased my headcovers from, Rose & Fire. That got me thinking that there must be a lot of small companies doing some really cool things with headcovers. I thought it would be cool to see the various offerings available in this area. So here are the headcovers in my bag. All from Rose & Fire. I have a couple of leather ones and a couple of cordura ones. I’m a native Californian and a veteran. That’s what influenced my choices.

I have been long tempted by sous vide but have yet to take the plunge. No pun intended (ok so maybe there was a bit of pun intended) Did you finish it on the grill?

This thread is epic. Berg’s write up was well worth the wait. I may have take a ride just for the burgers. When my game gets better I will have to make an appointment for a putter fitting and will ask for John. Thanks for sharing your experience Berg. I loved the interaction within the community. I enjoyed the write up after clearing snow from 90 feet of driveway.

This is like watching TV when I was a kid. Episode cliffhanger and having to wait a week for the next episode. No bingeing shows. My prediction. Berg will wake up, look in the shower where he see’s his faithful Nickent Pipe and announce it was all a dream. (God please let someone be old enough to get that reference.)

Not sure if this belongs here but I just mailed a check for my first golf course membership. Dipping my toe in the water. I’m semi-retired and purchased a Monday - Thursday membership. My wife told I better get my check sent.
