BreakfastBall15
Hit probably the best drive if my life today. Was hitting the ball well and decided to go for the green on the par 4 8th hole at my home course. Safe/normal play is take iron off the tee and layup iron off the water. Took driver and crushed a baby fade that landed just short of the green and ended up about 15 feet left and past the pin. Cart GPS said 335 but my garmin watch said 320. Either way, super delighted with it and gladly walked off with birdie even though I gave the eagle putt a good role ejgaudette 1 Quote Driver: PXG Black Ops, Ventus Blue 6X Fairways: PXG 0311 XF Gen 5 3 and 5 wood, Project X Riptide CB 6.0 Hybrid: PXG 0311 XF Gen 5 22 degree, Project X Riptide 6.0 Irons: PXG 0311P Gen 5 5-PW, Project X LS 6.5 Wedges: PXG SG2 50, 56(55), Modus 125 Wedge; PXG SG 2 60, KBS 130 Wedge Putter: TaylorMade Spider GT Red SB Ball: Maxfli Tour S MGS Star Grip Review: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/63328-star-grips-2024-forum-review/

RaRa Golf
Haven't played a round yet this year, but I had my first shift at a new course I will be working at this year. Pheasant Run is a 27 hole course with a driving range close to where I recently moved, and I'll be working weekend mornings so that I can enjoy golf this summer without breaking the bank. I did the same thing the last 2 summers at another course, but that was a private 18 hole, and no range, so it was harder to get on to play, plus it's now further away since I've moved. Pheasant is incredibly hilly, there's not a tee-box there that isn't at least 30-40ft above the fairway, plus a lot of articulation and elevation changes. It's right up my alley, I love a course with a lot of "character" to it. I had my first shift this passed Sunday, and took this picture from the back tee-box on one of the holes. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the guy with the backpack blower, his head is about 5ft below the bottom of my feet, and he's still about 8ft above the next tee-box down in front of him. The fairway is probably 40-50ft below the back tee, and that's just 1 example. I can't wait to play it this year. Golf2Much
Yesterday's round was full of ups and downs. I pared six of the first seven holes on the back (up) and doubled two of the first four holes on the front (down). It would have been doubling three of the first four holes if it wasn't for an uncharacteristic great bunker shot on our par five third hole. I was lying three in front of the green hoping to up and down after doubling the previous hole. The green is about 60 feet deep and slopes dramatically back to front and right to left with a sever "bounce" into water on the left. It was a front left pin placement and I felt comfortable making the shot as I'm typically in this situation on this hole. I pulled my sand wedge and proceeded to blade it into the back trap! Not noted as a great (or even decent) bunker player, I was facing my second double in a row. To add to my concern, my playing partner who was in the exact same situation, hit first and his ball rolled past the pin and 40 yards back down the fairway. I opened my sand wedge, aimed way left into the hill and gave it a go. The ball popped up, landed softly and took a sharp right turn. It took the dramatic slope, just missed the hole and rolled 14 feet past the pin. I shocked even myself! Since I already made one miraculous shot, I might as well make it two by sinking a 14-foot dramatically uphill putt for a bogie saving a Stapleford point for the team. I stepped up and sank the putt for the best bogie of the day! gingerbeast87
managed to finish work really early today and got a good round in after at woodlands golf and country club in Bristol UK. I had a great round by my standards. Got 5 pars and shot 96 overall. I recently changed to pink castle tees for my driver as i was hitting the ball too high on the face with the orange ones. Have found that my drives are going straighter now!! Here's the best ones for me today: 18th Hole: First drive went completely straight but too far forwards and landed in the drink. Took a drop by the water and managed to pummel the 3-wood 224 yards with the ball landing about 10ft from the hole. First putt took it to about 10cm from the hole and the second putt got it in. Par 5, so scored par! : You can barely even see the flag in the first picture there but the second is where the ball landed. 10th Hole: Fired the drive 285 yards over a line of trees and landed dead center on the fairway, giving me a 72 yard 75% power pitching wedge onto the green and a 2 putt for par! 16th Hole: 237 yard straight drive off the tee, thinned it with a gap wedge over the green (naturally because a good shot can never be followed by a good shot, it's the law i think!), pitching wedge chip onto the green and 1 putt for par!! Was definitely a better back 9 than the front nine. Got rained on for the first 7 holes (really wish the Galway Bay gear had turned up in time for that ) Fairways are feeling better now after all the rain we have had this winter. Looking forward to more games this summer!! Daz273118
I play at Meldrum House in Oldmendrum, Noth East Scotland. We had a stableford medal on Saturday and i had had a proper mixed bag of pars, bogies, double bogies and even an 8 on a par 5. The front nine was a disaster with multiple 3 putts. The back nine i started to feel like a golfer again culminating with the last hole which was a 165 par three over water with a slight wind into our face. This should be a 7 iron but water and wind i clubbed up to a 6. Hit the purest strike i had hit all day putting it centre of the green. 2 putts for par. Its that last pure strike that gives you the encouragement to keep coming back and to enjoy and improve. pjaxx88
Playing in club qualifier for a paired 9 hole Scottish Golf championship, which Dundas is hosting for the 3 year. Haven't been playing great recently had a bad year last year adding 3.7 to the handicap. Started off great +1 over 5 holes, no pressure. Hole 6 dog leg left with OB right, massive slice 1, baby fade 3, 220ish 3wood for 4, chunk a chip 5, bump and run 6, 6 footer for 7 triple. So that shot all composure and ended the 9 holes on +9. Duxman130
9th hole tee shot Sat afternoon. Par 4 - slight dogleg left - water on both sides. Narrow landing zone. It's blowing hard and late afternoon temp is dropping. OK - I got this. Visualize full speed ahead drive with a draw starting just at the edge of the water and bring it back. Then two Padraig Harrington warm us swings and execute the shot - it was a perfect center of fairway with solid distance. Set up easy 9 iron approach. Beakbryce
Basic backstory. Live in AZ in an aged community. We have three courses. Clearly water and the requirement for over seeding every year has become a problem. They shut down one course for basically all of last year and put in grass that doesn't require much water and does not require over seeding. 2 months they have to color it green. Anyway, I haven't played the course in 1.5 years. Played Sunday. The greens might as well have been grassed with green concrete! Example, front pin at 127 yards measured. Hit choked PW with regular mid high trajectory that landed just on the green and rolled off the back. First bounce, and I swear, could have cleared the Empire State building! Well, maybe not, but you get the idea. In our foursome there were NO ball marks on the greens. Those greens need work for sure. Couple years of sand and top dressing, plugs, and whatever, to be playable. Right now with the snow birds, packed anyway. SDunne
I had three good birdies on the weekend and was pumped about them all for different reasons: Hole 2 - Par 3 and one of the smallest greens on the course but also one of the largest slopes - put it to about 4 foot and got the putt uphill. Hole 7 and tee box has been brought forward so you can really get at it on a par 4. Put my hybrid just off the green to the left (had a mini fade to it - peach of a shot) had to go over a sprinkler so chipped to about 4ft and sunk the birdie putt. Hole 12 and thin fairway so took hybrid to it and slightly off the fairway to the right but clear shot at the green and PW to a tap-in from about 3 foot was awesome. All in all it was definitely one of my better rounds! GWScott
I've had a couple of aces but today a different outcome. You know that good feeling when your 8-iron shot is just covering the pin? And you start thinking, 'Well, maybe if it lands softly . . . it's right on the hole . . ." As the ball descended, it remained exactly on line, not a degree off on either side, almost like an eclipse, everything lined up just right. The flag was flapping in the breeze. This was a pretty short hole; I was hitting from white tees. The ball came down right on the flag. I mean on the flag. It caught the flag first then hit the pin with an immediate metal click audible from the tee. Flag and pin. That was a first for me. The ball bounced and rolled 20 feet away, still on the green, pin high. No ace this time. It could have been worse. I walked off with a par still a little in a trance from following the arc of the ball on such a perfect, hopeful, line. Hope it happens again. TMG_Golf
Landed my first eagle on a Par 5! As a beginner golfer who’s only been going at this for a couple years this felt like Christmas morning to me. Rarely do I ever hit both my driver and 7-wood this well on the same hole. Really lucked out with the 7-wood going 233 yards for me and landing within 5 feet of the hole. Never felt so nervous over a putt but took a deep breath and made sure I didn’t leave it short. I was rewarded with the sweet sound of it dropping in the cup. Of course I scored an 7 on the next hole. Gotta love golf! VernL4

It ain't about how FAR you can hit it Yep, I played a round last year with a friend. We were paired with two other guys. My friend and I were laughing and making plenty of noise. One of the other guys said he played in college, so he was taking things very seriously. His drives were regularly over 300 yards. We came up to a par 3 hole. He grabbed an iron for the "short hole". His shot ended up in the left bunker. My buddy put one in the water. Based on the distance and the suggestion on the scorecard of "Make sure to use enough club off the tee", I grabbed my 5W. He was laughing at me. "Oh, look at this guy with the big stick on this short hole. You do know the distance, right? Are you looking at the correct flag?" I just smiled and put it on the front of the green. I then two-putted for a par. He didn't question my club choice after that. Fraschzilla
League play last night. Hole 4 was a hard dogleg right, par 5, 438 yards. Of course, we were hitting into a headwind. You need a 260-yard drive to clear the corner on a normal day. I was just short of the corner, and there's a tree that overhangs on the right side of the fairway. I attempted to bend it around the tree with a 5 wood. The ball went straight and landed on the left side of the fairway by the green and rolled up to the lower left side of the green. Pin placement was uphill and to the right, roughly 45 feet away. Aimed out about 4 feet to the left. Balled rolled up the green and within the last foot, it curved off the path and landed 2 inches short. Ended with a birdie instead.
