Popular Post chisag
... I have played raw wedges for the last 15 years or so and picked up a Black Vokey SM7 D Grind 58* wedge in Phoenix to play on Bermuda. I was very happy to find the 12* of bounce works just as well back in the Midwest on Bent grass and soft conditions. But I was not about to pay another $50 to have Vokey NOT chrome plate a wedge as they charge $199 for a raw wedge. So I just did it myself.... I am a lifelong hippie that cares about our environment and am not about to use toxic chemicals for anything, let alone a golf club, so I soaked the Black SM7 in white vinegar for a couple hours and then scrubbed it with a Switch Brite pad. I did it several more times and finally the last go round there was no difference, so I stopped and while it is not as light a finish as I would like, it is much better than the original black, if you like a raw look. It actually looks pretty close to the Raw Scratch Wedges I played for many years after using them awhile. txgolfjunkie, StrokerAce, Miboy62 and 9 others 12 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... chisag
That looks great Chisag! How long do you think it took start to finish to get the wedge to that point? ... I soaked ot for 2 hours and then Scotch Brite and a lot of the finish came off. I probably did it 4 more times and by the last I saw no difference. It really doesn't take much time to Scotch Brite the finish, maybe 3-4 minutes. The soaking takes time but it isn't like you have to sit and watch. So all in all about 10 minutes of work but 6-8 hours of soaking. cnosil, DPattGolf, JohnSmalls and 1 other 4 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Ventus Red Velocore 5R Fairway: Qi10 5 wood ... chisag
... You can clearly see the rust on the face. I clean my heads after every shot or it would rust much more. I was not interested in rust per se, just that dull finish that doesn't reflect in the sun. If I wanted them to completely rust I would just leave them out wet and not clean them off.
