I personally think it's the easiest color to match... gray pants, blue pants, checkered pants, black pants, anything goes with white belt and the Adidas 3 stripe buckle. I had a clothing rep tell me that the rule for white belts is 36... When either your waist or your age exceeds that number, it's time to give it up. The guy's suggested replacement is a light gray belt to draw less attention to your waist line. I wear the woven under armour belt that is white, light gray and dark gray. I can hardly remember my dad's birthday but for some reason, I remember that tidbit of information. SteddyGolf
Steddy you talk a fitted shirt or just something so tight it cuts off blood flow usually on someone that shouldn't be wearing it. A nice fitted look though is what every golfer should be in. I'm talking shirts that are way to small for the frame it's being placed on. But since you brought it up, I'm not a fitted type guy. Although I remain in pretty decent shape I prefer loose fitting clothes on the GC. For me they breath better and provide room to move. Younger guys tend to like more of a fitted look. Many of the designers nowadays cater to that preference. Still “fitted†looks great on Rory but not so great on John D. I think that everyone should wear whatever makes them feel most comfortable and confidant but within the rules of golf and common decency. I do believe most men do not know how to properly match their clothes and the foundation for this belief is observing behavior in many different settings (not just on the golf course) for a very long time. Because of the breadth and scope of my profession I've found myself actually giving classes on proper dress for casual, business casual and formal events. I've never given proper dress advice for the Golf Course but I've busted my fair share of marbles of those who obviously either dressed in the dark or followed the advice of Stevie Wonder. Basic Rules: 1. Don't mix Brown with black. Example would be black belt almost any color shoe but brown. Brown belt almost any color shoe but black 2. Too big is better than too small especially with pants. No one wants to see your man parts. 3. Iron your clothes! It only takes a few minutes. Rolling up to the golf course looking like you pulled your clothes straight out of a duffle bag is a bad look. 4. If you are a husky guy don't wear horizontal stripes. Asymmetrical, ala Greg Norman shirts, is ok but your best look will be solid dark colors. Conversely if you are super skinny XXL may look good in a rap video but on the Golf Course and at work you just look like you need a cheeseburger wimpy. 5. If you tuck your shirt always wear a belt. The no belt look works for jeans but for golf gear it simply looks like you didn't finish getting dressed. 6. Up date your golf wardrobe so that you have options. A red shirt untucked with a pair of tan shorts looks like a completely different shirt when worn with a pair of black pants tucked in with “clean†black shoes. My point here is if you are creative you can make just a few pieces go a long way. 7. Loud shirts and shorts are fun. They are not my preferred look for me but I think they can look great on others. The rule here is wear one or the other but not both meaning if you are sporting your favorite Loud Mouth Golf shorts then wear a solid shirt. If the shirt is an American flag then go with a solid bottom. 8. If you buy two pairs of Leather golf shoes, one black pair and one white pair, you will never have to worry about being color coordinated. The key is to go with all white and all black. I'm not saying you can't have your Air Jordan Golf Shoes just understand the colors maybe more difficult to coordinate within the confines of your wardrobe. 9. Wash and or replace your golf hats when needed. If you have to ask what does when needed mean my answer would be, “last weekâ€. Incidentally your golf hat should accent the rest of your outfit. I like red and I also like turquoise but you'll never see me wear a red hat with a turquoise shirt. If you get confused look no further than your favorite sports teams. What color is their helmet or hat? What color is their shirt? How about their pants? Check out their shoes???? I could go on and on but I'll stop here. I did want to leave you with this. For me I perform better when I feel more confident. In addition to perfect practice and performance my appearance makes me feel more confidant. If I look a hot mess my game becomes a hot mess.
