I don't know about a full sand course, that sounds far too hard, ha ha, but there are plenty of courses with sand greens, they're just generally not in the metro/city area. Sand greens are usually in the smaller country/bush courses. Thankfully this means I don't have to play on them a lot, only when I'm travelling.

Think he's talking about "the sand belt"

I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

Hello everyone, Wanted to join because I love golf and want to get more involved. I am originally from the US but last year I moved to Scotland to follow Golf. Play more, learn more about the history and follow my (our) passion. If you are ever on the west coast of Scotland and need a playing partner or advise of where to play let me know. I am slowly going around the country and playing as many courses as I can.

  1. Started playing golf about 10 years ago and love it. Playing off a 10 right now.

  2. Being outside. No shot being the same and having to be creative

  3. I've always been a reader but have recently taken a jump in golf and want to get more involved.

  4. I am originally from the rocky mountains of Utah. Last year I moved to Scotland to play more golf and take a chance to really follow my passion. Home course is Largs Golf Club

  5. Best part is the courses here are amazing. They worst part is the price of some of the courses is outrageous but luckily there are lots of others.

  6. European Sales Consultant for US companies expanding to EMEA

  7. Chose my user name cause that is what I am here to do.

I'm actually heading to Ayrshire in June this year, was going to play prestwick with the lunch package. Any others I should try play whilst there?

hmm, hard to to say Canada is international, more like the US is the 14th. province but I regress (just joking) Anyway I live in the very small area of Canada where you can routinely play 12 months of the year, not like Palm Springs play, but play none the less. I live in a little town (15,000) people on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada called Sooke. I belong to a club called Olympic View which is about 30 minutes from Sooke, as on certain days and certain spots we have views of the Olympic Mountains in Washington State U.S.

Sooke is about an hour from the capital of British Columbia, Victoria, and is mainly a bedroom community of Victoria. It is famous for it's salmon fishing, outdoor trails and spectacular beaches so lots to do when I am not golfing. There are many beautiful golf courses within an hour drive from Victoria, and further up Vancouver Island which is about the same size as Ireland.

I am having fun on this site and happy to be able to be able to talk golf with all of you...

Spent many summers on the island and have been in that area a few times!

It is great you are able to play year round. I was talking to my folks in Vernon and Dad was just coming in after shovelling snow. There are so many stupidly good courses in BC. Truly spoiled for golf there.

I have fond memories of Vernon, we played the BC seniors at the Vernon Golf and Country Club, I finished one stroke out of the lead and made the BC team... great little course.

It's the best trip you can take. Pro tip: Try and find an old caddy in St. Andrews and tip him VERY well. I got 2 extra loops around the Old Course last time I was there because those boys know when the tee sheet is a little light and can get you on.

Hi from Cambridge in the UK.

I’ve been playing golf since I was about 10 yers old but very much on-off through Uni and afterwards. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at 27 years old and that eventually caused me to have to stop playing entirely for over 10 years due to pain when hitting the ball.

in the summer of 2022 some colleagues started talking about golf and maybe playing a bit, so I thought it had been so long since I played, and with my meds changed, it might be worth trying again. I did and had no pain at all. I’m now making up for lost time, taking lessons and grinding on the range as well as playing the local public courses in the local area.

WitB? A Callaway FTiQ Driver, Cleveland HALO 19° 2-iron hybrid, 3-PW Mizuno MP-60 irons, Taylormade R.A.C Black 52º & 60º Wedges, Taylormade MG3 Black 56º Wedge, Taylormade MySpider Tour putter and usually Taylormade TP5x Pix balls, all tucked up in a Mizuno BP-DFc bag

Looking to replace the Driver this year, and maybe the Hybrid too

As I’ve been getting back into the game I’ve been discovering YouTube channels, podcasts and forums…and that all lead me here 🙂

Hi all.

Inaugural post after being a creeper for a while.

A few things about me:

• Name: Shaun
• 36 year old Canadian
• New dad in 2021
• HUGE Adams Golf fan (own 4 sets of irons, a few hybrids, a few woods)
• I play about 40-50 rounds a year, mostly 9 holes
• New to Golf in 2019

Just looking forward to having another place to talk golf.

Here's a pic of my setup from last summer.

I just recently changed out my old TayloreMade Tour 61° for a Burke Golf 60° that I picked up on Amazon. It's a beaUtiful club.

No other planned changes aside from possibly a new driver. Not for any particular reason, I love the ST190, I just think I could use a little more fOrgiveness..

Cheers! 🍻

Hi all!

Brand new here.  Have been watching MGS for years on YT but never really clued in they had a forum.  Just saw the Edel testing post on twitter and I also had no idea they do that kind of thing either!

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

Been playing very intermittently since the late 90s, but got the bug about 7 years ago after a hiatus and have been working on grinding down my handicap and would love to one day get to scratch or better.

What do you love about golf?

A game where you are surrounded by nature, where you are playing against the course and against yourself as well as opponents.  A game you can never 'beat', but can always improve.  Love the precision and control, the feeling of execution is unlike any other sport.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

The twitter post about Edel testing, since i live not far from a fitter and have tried their putters in the past.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

SW Ontario.  No home course currently as it was shut down a few years ago, so mostly buy regional discount memberships and play a number of courses in the area.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

Almost every level of course quality available close by, prices are decent.  Worst thing is only being able to golf 7 months of the year outdoors!

What do you do for a living?

Own a landscaping and construction company since 2002.

How’d you pick your user name?

It's me!

Hello all from the home of golf!

Been playing since 2021. Handicap has went from 24 to 16 in that time. This year the goal is to get down to a single figure handicap. I'm doing this by working on some obvious weakness in my game. I've been working with a coach since November last year and I have seen an improvement in scoring which is pleasing however I'm not convinced it's been down to the lessons. I think it's just come from playing more regularly during winter than previous years, keeping myself ticking over.  Currently doing speed training with the stack and about to enter into a gym program to go alongside that.

My current WITB:

Titleist TSi2 - 10 deg - HZDRUS Smoke 60g

I'm actually about to be fit for my own clubs as I purchased all of these off the shelf as I figured I was going to be making swing changes. I'm going into the fitting having told the fitter that I'm happy with what I have in terms of the clubs themselves so any gains would need to be in the shaft/settings/loft/length/lie area for me to consider changing things. It would also need to be a significant difference whether that be in terms of speed, ball flight, distance, dispersion and so on. All my shafts are reg flex and with the speed training I've done I suspect that will put me into stiff shaft territory so will be interesting to see what gains can be had especially with the big stick

Don’t forget to try Otto phlex in your driver, would be interesting on what your fitter thinks about it?

I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

Golfer on Phillip Island, near Melbourne in Australia. Got back into golf just over 6 months ago after a long break (15 years) with occasional golf, maybe once every year or two. We moved to a new location with a golf course on our doorstep so I figured it was a good time to get back into it.

Currently a 7.5 handicap thanks to getting out 2-3 times a week for 9 holes.

My bag is primarily Titleist

Hi Guys, new here. Apparently I’m only the second Forum member from Belgium 🙈

Started playing golf 6 years ago… completely addicted now 🤣

quit my job 2 years ago to become a club fitter and since two weeks completed my WGTF level III teaching pro education.

My swing coach is Phil Allen (The Netherlands)

If you are in Belgium or planning a trip, get in touch and let’s play a round (or two)

cheers

Vincent
