Nek
Hi Guys, I just received my new JPX 919 Tours. Unfortunately I could only get in one quick range season so far. What I noticed after just hitting a few balls are a few pretty deep scuffs which you can see in the pictures below. I played Pings before, so haven't had forged irons yet. I know that they wear quicker but is it normal to have scuffs which you can feel with your fingers after just hitting a few golf ball on the range? Thanks guys! GolfSpy_APH
Using range balls is a lot harder on your clubs unless the range has pretty new balls that aren't scuffed up. A lot of clubs also have a finish over to which wears (ping hydropearl) and shows more wear them is actually there PMookie 1 Quote as of Nov 6, 2023 (Past WITB) Driver: Paradym TD w/ GD ADDI 6X Driver Shootout! jayjay0808
I have the same irons and I really stay away from hitting at ranges that don't have newer balls. Mizuno forgings are some of the softest and this does happen. Kanoito
And not only because of the range rocks. If you have any wet sand caught on in-between, they'll grind the face like sandpaper. ejgaudette
I have Ping I500 and I agree with Apolloshowl that the hydropearl finish wears more than you expect. I have only played 2 rounds with them and they look like I have played 10 or more with them. ballplayer002003
I have the older JPX900 forged, and it's the same thing. Doesn't affect playability though, just appearance. However, I feel your pain...get a brand new set of clubs and you want to keep them looking as nice as you can for as long as you can! Golfspy_CG2
It's true thst the scuffs are cussed by impact of the range balls. But the real culprit is most likely the range itself. If it has lots of hardpan and dirt on the range it's going to scuff up any range ball. 1st I try to look for in a range is the grass landing areas, to make sure it's got plenty of good landing areas.
