I know we get posts on here frequently about people wanting to get into the golf business.  Well here's one for you   Srixon/Cleveland is looking for a Field Rep in the Maryland area.  Description and pay and a link to apply are below.    Granted the pay may not be for everyone, but if you're young and just starting out in your career and have some golf knowledge, it could be just right for you.

Srixon/Cleveland Golf is looking to hire a full time Field Support Representative for DC/MD/VA. 

Basic info:  $40-$45k a year.  Company van with gas card, full benefits. Duties would be to execute fitting days, multi-vendor demo days, ball fitting days, sales calls, as well as servicing local accounts. 

*FSRs that prove themselves have the opportunity to advance to Territory Manager or XXIO Consultant!!*

Sounds like a fun job to have. Too bad the commute from MA to MD is not the best.

It's a tough job.  When I started playing golf in the 1990's, one of the guys at my club took a rep job (don't remember which company).  Young kid; low single-digit golfer.  He burnt out quickly and eventually went to work for his brother who was the head pro at a course in Oregon.

I would have thought they made more than that! I guess you have to have a goal to be a territory manager to get the bigger bucks.

Yeah, this isn't the main rep position.  That one does pay more.   But to Srixon's credit, they are the only company that I know of that offers this demoday/ support position as a full time position.  Most other OEM's hire people on a temp/contract basis.

And the pay for this is much better than most Assistant Pro positions make.  So a young guy in his 20's that has some golf course experience or retail experience, it would be a huge step up from that.

I think TM hires their tech reps on a full time basis as well. They are also very good as giving them new opportunities to take on more responsibility. One guy moved here from PA a few years ago and before the season was over he was taking a new position in another state with the company. One of the guys that took over for him moved to VA for a new position.

Yeah. TM has both the part time guys and the full time reps as well as the main regional sales guy. The budgets for the various brands aren’t real big and there’s only 2-3 demo day type reps at most for an entire territory. Callaway used to have 2 plus the regional rep.  For titleist the titleist Thursday’s have been good for them in that aspect as they don’t have to staff to many reps and they don’t have to travel much.

As you mention for Srixon it’s pretty cool of them to have this position along with the vehicle. Hopefully it helps grow their exposure.

I would really like a second career in golf once I'm done with this whole active duty thing, although I'll have a very hard time getting the wife to sign off on $40K a year when she's convinced I can go work for a big bad defense contractor.

Makes me wonder how flexible they are on the whole 1-3 years of golf, retail and/or education experience requirement.

It sounds like a really fun opportunity for someone wanting to get into the golf industry.  And with Srixon no less, WAY BETTER than PING (where did that come from 🙂).

Finally, a gig that pays less than mine. :)

Seriously this would be a nice opportunity for a younger person to get into the golf business and it certainly pays far better than almost any assistant pro job.

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to. 

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

I believe this is the entry level position. If you work your butt off and prove yourself it can lead to more lucrative jobs in the industry.
