I’ve been debating about whether to get a year’s subscription to TheGrint at ~$75 or to get Shotscope Connex at $130. It’s hard not to pass up something that offers no subscription fee.

I haven’t read the entire thread, but I asked them about a handicap feature, and they wrote back alluding to new features coming soon.

Have to say that ShotScope is very good for the cost. As you alluded to the big benefit is that once bought there are no ongoing fees

My bad. I asked about whether it was possible to add previous rounds to help build a handicap, and they said that isn’t possible, but that they are working on the ability to add a round while away from the course.

I'm really impressed with Shot Scope's customer service. When I requested changes to my home courses, they were completed within a day. Even when I had an issue with my round not being accurately captured, they resolved it within 24 hours. Despite some user complaints, including mine, it's important to remember that we receive excellent customer service without any subscription fees. I highly doubt Arccos is as responsive unless you’ve forgotten to pay your subscription fees… lol.

That is a good point.  I would use the 'provisional' feature to take those out of the club averages

I got my ShotScope sensors in the mail yesterday. Don’t have another round planned for a week or so but really looking forward to tracking my data more closely in 2024.

It does give you a real insight into where you can improve, and it’s not always what you think

Agree with what others have said about the X5 navigation. Playing tomorrow, and should be the first time it includes my P-Avg distances for tee shots. I’m looking forward to that.

I can’t use my putter tag with my current putter, as it won’t get all the way into the grip. Whenever my Edel Array arrives, I plan to use the tag on that. I don’t like manually tracking my putts, as I frequently forget to mark my putt location.

Like others, I went with SS instead of Arccos because I don’t want to pay ongoing subscription fees. I have found that battery does not typically last two rounds, but several of the rounds I played were pretty slow. Played last week in 3 hours and had 55% left.

I agree, and to further help out - using PAVG which knocks out the outliers instead of AVG or Longest. During the winter we have lots of wind, like today, it was blowing 25. Launch the drive high into the wind and watch it come down like a lead ballon or that long drive downwind will get knocked out in the outliers.  I assume that would be comparable to hitting a sloped fairway (either way).

Cut the threads off the tag and glue it, tape it or Velcro it to the putter. I use glue dots, then crisscross electrical tape over the top. It doesn't affect the tag being sensed at all, from what I can tell.

+1 for gluing it. I used Gorilla Instant Glue - the putter sensor has been on for months and no sign of it loosening.

Concur on gluing. However, since I have several putters I decided to order the additional putting tags from Shot Scope. Two tags come with the sticky adhesive.

I use a hot glue gun for putter tags. The tags stick well and if I want to move a tag from one putter to another it come off easily.

Reading these posts about the putter tag makes me nervous. I have the SuperStroke 2.0 with the screw adapter for a counter weight. Might have to try the gorilla glue option for that sensor.

Don't let it! I've used a thick double-sided tape (happened to be Gorilla Glue brand) on my Super Stroke counter balanced grip for years and it's never moved. When I changed putters, I had to use a small paint scraper to lift it off. Used the same scraper to get the remaining tape off the tag and reinstalled it again on another putter. Works perfectly!

The tape that comes with the Shot Scope putter sensor works well. I have a sensor that's still attached to a SuperStroke grip. I use the glue gun on a sensor I move from putter to putter.

Question: I was always afraid that glue would eventually harden such that it couldn't be removed without breaking the sensor itself. That doesn't happen, though, huh?

You need a putter specific tag if you want to tag putts. The tags on the site work with the app.  To work with the superstroke grip you have  the following options:

1.  Order the tags on the shotscope site. They come with tags that have double sided tape.  

2. Use the putter tag that comes with your device.  It can be separate from teh putter or you can cut off the post and glue or tape it to your putter.

3.  you can use the manual tag function to click a button on your device to register putter use.

These are the tags I bought. 

The previous post shows the 3-sensor pack saying not compatible with Connex. Assuming that means not with the app and only works with one of the ShotScope devices.

Yep.  then your only option is probably to modify the putter tag that comes with connex.

I'm kind of bummed the Connex doesn't have replacement putter tags available, I lost mine. I hadn't committed to a putter to use so I had just put the tag in a button hole on my shirt to take my phone to in order to register the putts and have no idea where it got off to. I was planning on gluing it on once I chose a putter to use for the season. 

I need to figure out how to manually tag putts on the course, if that's an option. If not, it's a pain to track the distance of every putt and enter them in after the round.

I just sent a query to ShotScope to see if manual putting mode is available on the Connex @Preeway. Might be a couple of days before I hear back, but I'll post the response here once I hear back.

Using a glue gun while it's sticky and lasts a long time is not a permanent. Gorilla or any other instant glue is permanent. I like the idea of ordering extra putter sensors as I regularly change my putter grip.

That’s the catch. The replacement putter sensors aren’t complaint with the app. Hoping they have a plan to add Connex putter sensors as I am also prone to trying out a new putter grip several times a season. Went through 4 in 2023.
