Middler
In looking over the whole PGA schedule, I realize there are only 10 tournaments I make time to watch. The 4 Majors, the 3 FedEx tournaments, Bay Hill, the Memorial and The Players. If other tournaments are on iconic courses, e.g. Pebble Beach, add them to my list. I don't care for match play, or team play - so I'm not a Ryder Cup or other team format fan. If I watch other tournaments, it's probably only Sunday if I have nothing else to do, especially if I know the leaderboard has shaped up for an interesting finish. I do watch some LPGA major tournaments - because if I was smart I'd try to emulate their swings, instead of Rory et al. vandyland 1 Quote Titleist TSR2 11° HZRDUS Red CB 50 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Titleist TSR2 16.5º HZRDUS Red 60 CB 6.0 & TSR2 21º HZRDUS Black 4G 70 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Mizuno JPX923 HMP 4-GW, T22 54.12WS, T22 58.04DC w Lamkin ST+2 Hybrid Midsize LAB DF3 w Accra Maxfli Tour & ProV1 Ping Pioneer - MGI Zip Navigator AT Payntr X 001 F (mesh), Payntr X 005 F, Ecco Biom C4
CarlH
The only tournaments that I'm really interested in are the club tournaments that I play. PGA, LPGA, LIV, Korn Ferry, Champions, et al...if I'm not playing and there's nothing else going on, I might watch some tv golf. I do check the leaderboards to see how certain players are doing, particularly if Dylan Wu (new PGA tour player this year that I watched grow up at my previous country club) is playing. vandyland
RBC Heritage (love the course), WMPO (has an identity at least, not that I agree with the party atmosphere entirely), API - Bay Hill, The Players, Dell Matchplay (though they MUST get rid of pool play, go back to straight bracket), Masters, PGA Champ, US Open, Open Championship. So I guess that is 5 tour events and 4 majors. Quote STZ 230 9.5* / Pro Fli-Hi 21* MALTBY TS1-IM 5-GW Equalizer II 54* / Carnoustie 60* L.A.B. DiscipleofPenick
Let's see the 5 majors, Bay Hill, WGC events, and maybe the Memorial. I start watching golf around the Farmers, as the winter itch begins and watch a lot through the Masters. Then the PGA a little bit, and both Opens. That's about it. cnosil
The only tournament I ever made time for was the LPGA event that was local to me and that was because I wanted to volunteer. While I watch some golf most every week, I don't go out of my way to allocate time, If I have something better to do I won't watch. silver & black 1 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
TR1PTIK
Outside of the majors there are only 5-7 events that I'm interested in as whole. Any other events I watch it's because I want to see a specific golfer - of late that's been Rickie assuming they show him on a featured group or broadcast. I don't really even care for the "playoff" events that much, especially with the new format. GolfSpy_APH
We have 28 weeks for our fantasy season so 26? There are usually 2 weeks like this one where its so darn hard to field a full team that I have to basically punt on it. However the rest are weeks I usually tune in for a couple hours and actually care about. cnosil 1 Quote as of Oct 5, 2024 (Past WITB) Driver: GT2 with Graphite Design AD CQ - check out the Driver Shootout! Parshooter36
I generally have golf on the TV on the weekends if I'm in the house. Definitely Sunday afternoons I plan on watching the final round of the PGA. I'm with you on the match play and team play events, they just don't interest me for some reason. NM01
Typically I would say the majors, the players and the Hawaii/west coast swing would get most of my attention but I don’t watch much golf anymore or most sports for that matter I haven’t setup my weekends to watch any event including the majors in the last few years. If I’m not doing anything and at home I’ll watch but even that’s not a guarantee. silver & black
GolfSpy TCB
I have the Golf Channel, ESPN Plus, and Network Broadcast Golf playing in my home office pretty much all the time I'm at home (except from 5 am to 7 am when I'm catching the local news and weather. So there usually isn't any golf I don't miss, either live or on repeat in the days following. But which events do I plan my schedule around? #1 - Masters - no question... if I could only watch one tourney.. it would be the 4 days at Augusta... I hope I am able to go experience it (and the pimento cheese sandwich) in person someday. T-2 - US Open / Open Championship #4 Players Championship T-5 - US Women's Open / Evian Championship #7 Bay HIll #8 Only ranked this low because it is every other year.... Ryder Cup all the rest (including PGA Championship... for whatever reason, it just doesn't have the same panache as the other 3 majors for me. ZenGolfer
For me, its just the majors. The majors are all that matters, the rest is just filler. I may still watch if its a venue that I find interesting, such as Pebble Beach or the Sony in Hawaii but I dont really care. revkev
If it's a choice between watching golf or playing golf, I'm playing golf. Given that I live in Florida that means I rarely watch tournaments other than what might be on in e background when I go to work on Saturday afternoon or majors in the background at work on Thursday or Friday if I happen to be by myself in the office. I do watch some of the West Coast swing when its on at night in Florida and some DP World Tour stuff on Friday and Saturday mornings but none of that is planned. I happened to catch a goodly part of the final round of the US Open this year in the grill room at my club because rain forced us off the course and it was on the TVs there. Since moving to Florida I've only seen the final round of a Masters if it happened to fall on Easter Sunday. Other than that I'm playing - can't really waste Sunday afternoons in April, probably the best month for golf in our state. I probably listen to way more golf while driving than I actually watch. GolfSpy_APH
Outside of FedEx cup playoffs for fantasy now my watching golf is pretty much done. Even FedEx cup I'm unlikely to watch. I love watching golf for heritage and legacy over money... Sadly it just seems to be for money most all the time now. sirchunksalot and Middler 2 Quote as of Oct 5, 2024 (Past WITB) Driver: GT2 with Graphite Design AD CQ - check out the Driver Shootout! Hate to say it but the LPGA Amundi Evian tournament has been more fun to watch the the PGA 3M Open IMO. Like you, the 3 FedEx playoffs are the only PGA events left I will make time to watch. Again, there are only about 10 PGA events/majors that I make time to watch - the rest I watch are when there’s nothing else to do or just killing a little time. I didn’t watch more than 5 minutes of the 3M, but the Evian was great this morning. cnosil 1 Quote Titleist TSR2 11° HZRDUS Red CB 50 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Titleist TSR2 16.5º HZRDUS Red 60 CB 6.0 & TSR2 21º HZRDUS Black 4G 70 6.0 w Lamkin UTx Midsize Mizuno JPX923 HMP 4-GW, T22 54.12WS, T22 58.04DC w Lamkin ST+2 Hybrid Midsize LAB DF3 w Accra Maxfli Tour & ProV1 Ping Pioneer - MGI Zip Navigator AT Payntr X 001 F (mesh), Payntr X 005 F, Ecco Biom C4
