GolfSpy_APH
I was doing some clean up of some clubs and going through some of the settings and wondered who has the best Hosel for drivers? Many are pretty simple and function well but often lead to adjusted lie angle to get desired loft or requiring a certain head to match up lie and loft. Off the top of my head TaylorMade, Cobra, Mizuno, PXG and many others have this. It still works, but the other part is often a grip can be twisted so if you do make a change there is that to think about too. Then there is the whole LH or RH sleeve which can throw a wrench into things. Titleist is great because it has a little sleeve that allows for adjustment without twisting the grip. However unless you bring up the chart it can be pretty confusing. However no different or requirement for needing a LH or RH sleeve as one works for both. Callaway may have the best. Simple adjustment that doesn't effect the grip orientation. However still be careful for RH vs LH which will make things opposite. So what do you think? Is there one I missed that's better or why do you prefer some vs others? sosuHands, Bobbers, JohnSmalls and 1 other 4 Quote as of Oct 5, 2024 (Past WITB) Driver: GT2 with Graphite Design AD CQ - check out the Driver Shootout! GolfSpy_BNG
Put me down for Callaway’s Opti-Fit 2 being the best. They have different versions which can help lower loft more or flatten the lie more. Plus changing the settings doesn’t rotate the shaft and change the grip orientation. KevB_44
Callaway's ability to adjust without reorienting the shaft/grip along with the simplicity is really impressive---I like it. Is that consistent with Titleist? I thought one of the cams required the shaft/grip to rotate in order to adjust it or am I mistaken? I do know you need to reference a table to make sense of it and make the adjustment you seek. Jim Shaw
there was a set of irons when I was young, probably about 1971-72, I dont know who put them out but Jerry Barber endorsed them, they were the weirdest looking hozel I had ever seen, I will try and find a picture of them GolfSpy_APH and MGoBlue100 2 Quote committed to performance excellence

Jim Shaw
I have a great Jerry Barber story to tell, I had the sincere pleasure of playing an 18 hole practice round with Canada's Golfer of the Millenium, Gary Cowan at the 2019 Senior Amateur Men's Championship at Cedar Brae Golf Club in Scarborough Ontario. Gary won 2 US amateur championships in the 1960's so was invited in to play in the Masters. Anyway one morning Jerry Barber approached him at Agusta and asked if he had a practice time booked for the next day and invited Gary to join him at 1015 am. Gary said thank you very much he would love to. Gary is warming up then goes over to the practice green to putt and there were about 2-3000 people surrounding the putting green so Gary searched out Jerry and said "would it be possible to head out now so there isn't so we can get away from the crowd?" Jerry says, "sorry Gary, get used to it, we are playing with Ben Hogan today" lol... there is more to the story and Gary wrote a book about his golfing years and the rest of the story is in his book, a good read by the way. GolfSpy_APH
I am going to nominate Tour Edge and the few others that use that one as the worst. I don't remember exactly but it uses a bit of a hybrid system that wasn't straight forward to figure out and was a little on the big side. I'll add that at the time we didn't sell as many, but just not one I enjoyed working with. Also not a huge knock, but the little window on cobra wasn't the most idea especially on wet and muddy conditions ans it was a pain to clean. However I did prefer theirs as far as simplicity. I believe I read or watched a video where @JohnnyCallawaymentioned that the green dot starts at -.5* and then goes -2*. So technically it’s a -2.5* adapter. I could be miss remembering though. Berg Ryman
For ease of understanding loft set-up I think Cobra had it nailed with the older school My-Fly with all the lofts in the head listed, but for ease of use and practicality of adjustment, I think it's Opti-Fit now because of the lack of shaft orientation change. hd1344
Preference, just based on readily-available data would be the Titleist adpaters. Sure Fit diagram is readily available & conveys both lie/loft effective adjustments upfront. I don't mind any of the others - but some companies having alternative hosels without the information being overtly accessible/available is a chore. I play from a flat lie position - so having this information available definitely informs my purchase decisions, since a lot is geared to upright hosels anyhow - nothing like having a mystery hosel available, but only on need to know or after-market basis - adding costs to clubs that are veering on ridiculously expensive off the rack.
