Will_Mac
5W for me. It's the first club down from driver, and I don't like hitting FW's off the deck. But since I bought a 19° Cobra Radspeed One-Length hybrid (24° too), I find that I rarely use 5W off any tee. And that's because I hit the 19° OL way farther from the tee than I'd anticipated pre-purchase.But... that's only because driver has been behaving for a while now. While the OL hybrid gives impressive distance, it doesn't give me 5W tee distance. The 5W will remain in the bag for when (not if, LOL...) the driver misbehaves. 202 and KC Golf

The Mad Bomber
My initial thought was my 60º because I didn't grow up with one and really only ever use it to get me out of a jam. Merlin1313
In the FWIW category, on my last round, my 4H redeemed itself and has again bumped the 5I out of the bag. I think it knew that it was on the block. I made some really nice shots with it (to include a semi controlled "super fade"- around a huge tree that someone had obviously placed there by mistake- and rolled it up on the front edge of the green, plus a towering shot over some tree limbs to help cut the corner on the 18th). And I might have even gained a few yards with it too (always a bonus). richk9holes
The 3H is the one that finishes a round clean sometimes. The reality is I hit my 17° 4w really straight and I am hitting my 5H better and better the more I use it at 26°. It's just a really good loft for me to lay into and flight an approach. 22° where I have the 3H adjusted feels like the flight of the ball stays low and gets back to the ground quicker than even my 4w. If I'm not going to roll out after the carry distance, I find little use for this trajectory. I imagine it has something to do with the courses I play. They are soft grass, very little elevation and also I've been known to play in all sorts of weather so the amount I play on a hard track that will help the ball run is limited. Jim N
I'm a weirdo. It's my 9 iron. I'm so likely to pull it left that I tend to avoid it like the plague. Even if it's the obvious choice based on distance I usually flinch and try to either hit a full swing PW or 3/4 swing 8 instead. Yeah, I know, it's all in my head, and I recently hit one of the best shots of my life with it, but still. FWIW, I tend to use my 60 degree out of green side bunkers but almost never anywhere else, but that's still once or twice a round for me. So out it went, and since I was struggling with tight lie chipping, I put in a chipper. Once I got the feeling back with 7i chipping, the chipper & 56* went out, and 54* & 58* went in. Didn't like that too much, so 54* & 58*out, and 56* & 19* hybrid in. Didn't use the 19* at all (like 3W & 22* mashie better) so pulled that out, and carried two putters (blade & Mallet) to help with lag putting. After I got laughed at, I finally came to my senses, and put a "desert" wedge in. Not many desert courses in Illinois, but it's nice to have a junk PW to hit from paths, bridges, roots, flower beds, acorn shells, sand less and/or crunchy bunkers and other exotic locations I sometime find myself in. No fear of snapping it on a root or wrapping it around a tree trunk, when a replacement is $10 in the bargain barrel. I have an old Don Martin Up-n-In chipper. Bronze I think. I use it a lot instead of a 60 deg or trying to chip with a 7 iron, which shaft is way too long and lie is off, for good chipping. BMDubya
It’s all course dependent for me. I play in 3 leagues, all on different courses. But on all 3, rarely use my 3wd HL. On 2 of the courses, depending on wind, I can use it for drivable par 4s. Don’t get much use out of my 4h,4&5 irons as well. But when I play regular rounds with friends, on different courses, I tend to use about all clubs. I’m pretty much a bomb & gouge guy though. So driver & 7,8,9,p, 52°/58° get the majority of the work.
