Any club where the designers used the color yellow (yeah, that's right, I'm talking to you Nike).

Easy there. Yellow is the new gold.

That is a short step from no maroon

The other thread about what people would like to see come back from the grave as a lot of interest, so I thought we could look at it from the other direction.

What, if any, club do you wish would go away and stay away?

I'll start. TM Spider. I know many people putt well with it but it bugs me. 1. Not enough metal. Putters should be metal, lots of metal. 2. adjustable weights. just another thing to worry if you have it right 3. awful looking square headcover. Easy to distinguish, but awful looking.

IMO, of course.

Long putter, belly putter and any other club they come up with that is anchored against the body.

How about putters altogether?? I vote that putting be abolished, and that golfers adjust score based on how close to the hole iron shots are hit. Who is with me???

Not that I want to start a fire here, but the long putter debate seems like the Eye2 wedge debate.

If there was such an advantage, wouldn't more pros bag them?

I have never really got the resistance to them. Strange looking, sure...

I'm not that vehemently opposed to them...but the question was asked, and that's the answer for me.

I think the biggest argument against them is that it's not a true "swing" and that it's too much like a true pendulum motion like Snead's putting between his legs.

A lot of the argument is that no other club you can anchor against your body. I don't use one because it feels to awkward to me, but then again so does all putting.

Was that legal for him? I am not familiar with this.

It was until they made a rule against it...just because of him. (kinda like the new Ping groove deal because of Phil)

Crochet-style putting is now illegal. That's why the rule says you can't straddle your line of putt.

I like the yellow, it's very bright, but it's best used as a secondary color.

OK, but does it have to be canary yellow?!#

So the long putter gives you a similar stroke, but from the side.

Now I understand why the futura mid could have been non-conforming

Those "chippers" that look like putters with loft.

I'm assuming you're talking about the latest wave of clubs like the Niblick and Marxman. If you're referring to the Niblick, its technically not a "chipper". Chippers are illegal for play. The Niblick is a new category of club called "short game hybrids". I think Cleveland even lists it as a wedge on their site although I think that is a stretch.

Given that, what do you have against "short game hybrids"?
