TaylorMade Qi10 Drivers - 2024 Forum Member Review

An update of sorts: 

The last week has been an adventure, to say the least. 

Last Thursday, I went to my favorite local golf shop, The Golf Exchange, with the notion of trying out other X stiff shafts with a QI-10 LS head. There is something about the Kai Li white that I’m not jiving with. So after trying a number of different options, I decided to grab a Fujikura Ventus Blue TR  6x. 

To fully commit to the QI, and help offset the cost, I traded in the Paradym TD. Fast forward to a testing session on Saturday and tragedy struck. 
 

I went with the intention of using club spray to get some data on center strikes vs toe hits, etc. On the 2nd swing, I heard a loud sound that has no earthly business at a driving range and discovered this:

So while I patiently wait for Taylor Made to indicate how they wish to proceed, I sourced a backup plan, as the timing of the Paradym TD trade in has been less than optimal. 

A quick word of praise for this head/shaft combo. It is fantastic and will make a wonderful back-up club.   

Hopefully, in the next week or two I will have the replacement head and the Ventus shaft and can resume my testing. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy my time with the Cobra.

Dang, that sucks. Hope the backup can fill in adequately in the meantime. Hate to see my VCT partner in a pickle.

Having to use a Cobra Amp Cell driver, at least a decade old, in Tuesday’s round directly contributed to the need of a good backup plan. Good news though, took this one to the range and it is beastly

That’s the crazy part. I’m around 105-110 mph, so I wouldn’t say I am even a high speed swinger. The temps were between 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit, so temperature shouldn’t have played a part. And the club spray showed a center strike, so it wasn’t like a hit on the crown caused it. I’m at a loss for what, if anything, caused. It happens, I guess

Though if most folks on the interwebs are to be believed, I assumed everyone has 120+ mph club head speed and carries the ball 300 yards routinely

I don't think I could hit a 300 yard drive downhill on concrete. Or at whatever that hole is at Kapalua that's the next best thing.

@GolfSpy_BEN that’s wild. Between this and the backordered shaft it sounds like it’s been a nightmare experience. Hopefully Taylormade can get you a new one with the correct shaft

I was thinking the same. I hope they correct the issue and the one you previously had. Would love to see the results with the shaft you chose from the start.

There have been challenges, for sure. But ultimately, most of what I’ve experienced with the QI-10 LS has been positive and I think it’s a good product. I’ll reserve any definitive impressions for the review, but I’m committed to giving this driver every opportunity to wow me.

My swing speed only reaches 120+ during VCT rounds. Otherwise I peg out around 110-115.

After trying the hzrdus smoke blue rdx 6x in the cobra, I can see why @Jmikecpa likes it so much. It is a sweet shaft and admittedly, I think the ventus shaft I picked up has the potential to be special with this LS head, so it’s no worries if all they send is a new head.

My Ventus Blue 6S in my Aerojet LS was a whopper combo on Tuesday. I was also playing the new Taylormade TP5 that I got samples of so going to play my Z Star during tomorrow’s round to see how my numbers compare. Hoping my long drives were more driver/shaft related than ball.

Compared to people on the MGS forum. Based on the below,  some people have seen other forums where most of the forum members carry it over 300.

I have had the Black and Yellow in several clubs over the years and liked the feel of the yellow more but wanted the stability of the black. Now the RDX Blue shows up and it was just made to be. I have also changed my shot shape from primarily a draw to now I hit a stock cut and turn it over when I have to. I will also say I have a HC Evenflow Black in my three wood that I am really liking a lot. Feels really good and I can flight it any way I want to. I may just be over my Graphite Design stage at this point. 
 

and if I am not I still have a bunch of them to choose from

That was pretty tragic to see on the community call today! I let out an audible gasp as you were showing it to everyone! Goes to show that this is a REAL life test where $h!t happens. Now you have a customer service angle to the test that other testers don't have.

Happy you found a backup driver in the LTDx LS. I'm currently testing/gaming the LTDx with the blue smoke shaft and it's been working nicely for me!

Sorry to hear about that! That’s a solid back up to have. I game the LTDx LS myself and it’s a beast.

That's a real bummer @GolfSpy_BEN. From a past issue with a Taylormade Driver, there customer experience tends to be really good when there are issues.

Well after reading through this thread and hitting the fitting bays for a bit. I've decided to order a Qi10. Wanted to go with the LS because my swing speed is around 105mph and wanted to have the optionality of the slider, but the consistency across the face of the standard Qi10 was too big of a plus to pass up. I went with the Kai'li White 60x shaft, but I am biased toward the Ventus from previous drivers. Depending on how testing goes with the Kai'li White, I may end up still getting the Ventus Blue 6x. 

I now practice in Atlanta at a trackman bar called Atlanta Golf and Social, so I'm looking forward to sharing the numbers with you.

Sorry to see that @GolfSpy_BEN, but glad you have a backup driver available.  I have heard instances of cracking on prior TM drivers as well.  Hopefully they can get yours returned quickly.

I thought most of the previous generations' issues were face cracking or cracking where the face meets other parts of the club. I could be wrong, but a few that I've read about were that way. This was the BACK of the club, which was weird to see.

Back is different, the Sim or Sim 2 generation had issues on the bottom.  Most of the Stealth issues were face related from what I’ve seen.

It's funny you bring that up, because my buddy swears the Qi is not an iteration of the Stealth based on the head shape and it is more in line with the Sim series and I agree. I have been a lot more worried about the bottom of the Max than the face which seems to be holding up like a champ.
