What Is Your Next Planned Golf Equipment Purchase?

Recommended Posts

Short Term .... easy answer is Golf Balls and Gloves

Long Term ... Push Cart so I can stop paying some absurd prices on cart rentals but probably nothing for a while since I've just gotten new clubs recently

...

I guess rounds of golf don't fall under "equipment" though cause that's the obvious answer for "next golf purchase"

7 woods are a curiosity - I think I need to get one too

My favorite set up from the non-adjustable days was Driver, 4-wood, and 7-wood.  I struggle just a bit with lower lofted hybrids.

If you can, try out the Cobra King Tec - I've never really been a hybrid person (I gamed the Callaway Super for a bit...hated it), but its easily one of my favorite clubs (ever).

I purchased the Ping i530’s! Love them. Perfect for me transitioning from the ZX4’s. I wanted a smaller head but didn’t want to give up distance. They surprisingly launch higher than the ZX4’s. ZX4 I had the Recoil 95 F4 shafts (wrong shafts for me). i530’s I now have the TT DG 115 Mid. Love the whole set up!

Was just fitted on January 2 for new Ping G430 irons. Still learning my new distances since they are much longer than my old KZG's. Up next is either a new bag or possibly getting fit for a new driver. Been looking at the Ping 430 10K which my fitter says is better than this years Cally. I think I'd like to compare them both since my current is a Cally. Whatever I do, it needs to happen soon as I'm headed to Alabama to play the RTJ trail for the 3rd year in a row.

My plan for this year is iron shafts.  I just do NOT know how to proceed with that.  I was fitted in '19 in my Apex with Nippon 950 GH Taper Stiff at the age of 52.  5 years later .... no change, but my body seems to be telling me that perhaps I need to go to graphite.  As I said, no clue what to do here.  My assumption would be that it is probably time for another fitting and see what that results in.  Advice or thoughts always welcomed!!

I am looking for a new driver. I think that the Taylotmade Q10 looks good. But I have seen some reviews for the Mizuno230, which sound interesting. Has anyone tried the Mizuno? Cheers.

I just booked a full bag fitting for next Tuesday. I'm mainly only looking for irons, but I figure on new wedges as well to get the gapping right. A "Full Bag", two session fitting costs less than separate iron and wedge fittings (and a greater amount applies to any purchase). I am happy with my woods, though I'll give him a chance to see if there's something to gain (I could use more spin on my driver - new shaft maybe?). He fit me for my hybrid last summer, so that's not changing. The putter is untouchable.

I've decided that I need to finally pull the trigger on some Maltby DBM irons for my lake place bag.  My son stole my Tour Edge HL4 irons, and I've wanted a set of those for years.  The black finish lasts forever, and they look amazing, especially if you remove the pain fill in the sole numbers.

With an assembled iron pack coming in under $400 with Recoil iron shafts, it's time to just do it.

I just had an unplanned buy. Had a friend want to hit my 5 wood, letting someone I know hit clubs is fine with me. He didn’t take into account the lefty behind him and well, he paid me for my 5 wood. So I now have a newer cobra Aerojet 5 wood

I like my AJ driver so much I’m looking at an AJ 7 wood since they bare on sale. I have a 16.5° 3-wood (I call it a 4 wood) so thinking something around 20° would be perfect for my bag. Might have to see what my fitter has in stock.

To be fair, I did hit the Paradym a tad further, but I’m not going to worry about 3 yards more. It came down to price, and with the Aerojet coming in almost 50 bucks less it was a no brainer.

Long broomstick putter. Used for number of years when anchoring was allowed, stopped when ban occured. Was a much better putter with long putter. Going to try with the no anchor rule. I think I get a better view of the selected line from above like the long putter affords.

New wedges are next. I’ve worn out the grooves on my favourite SW and LW from practice and playing. Looking to replace with new 54 and 58.
Reading / watching all the reviews and will demo some in the next few weeks. Of course the Wedge review from MGS has helped narrow down my thoughts!

For me it has to be irons. I am still using my dads old irons and they are definitely the worst part of my game so will be looking for something with more forgiveness. I am also constantly looking at new putters.

Long term would be a launch monitor. That's a lot of money to get past the wifey though. 😆. Short term might be an iron shaft change. I'm not loving the DG 105's I was fitted for on course. The courses around me are still pretty sloppy, so it's hard to tell for sure. My sample size with these shafts is pretty small.
