Left arm, chicken wing and wrist

Recommended Posts

I have gotten a couple 9- hole lesson with exp PGA pro.

He identified a few area where I am struggling.

 1. Pre shot routine and Alignment

I have struggled with failing away, dipping and big slice for so long that I am always aiming left. Then getting to annoyed when I have good awing and balls goes where I aim. So now I am establishing a routine that ensures I line up where I want the ball to go, not where I think it will go if I slice it.  It's helping.

2. Chicken wing, I never even heard of this before, but now that I know about it, it's pretty obvious.

So by extending my swing by keeping my lead arm straighter through shot, I am getting better results.  The interesting thing, somehow by focusing on extending and committing to path, I have developed a really ugly snap hook. I think this is due to consciously trying to turn wrists over and actually exaggerating this and turning over too soon or too much.

My left elbow is not sore from new swing. Ckeary I need to get stronger because by not bending left elbow early I am feeling a little more atrain...

3. Irons.

He has me standing more upright and closer to ball, it felt really uncomfortable at first, but the iron shots are much straighter and online.  I feel like I am losing some power by being more upright, but am willing to work through the awkwardness if I can stay on target.

I have struggled over past few rounds trying to implement new swing changes, not so drastic, but definitely taking a few steps back to take a few forward.
