Edited, as i forgot to hit submit...😆

While waiting in the ER with my son at 0200 this morning,  and being up nearly 24 hours, I was reading through older and newer topics on the different ball tests performed by members here. One thing that stuck in my head for some reason was the alignment lines on balls.

The most 2 recent, the maxfli and Bridgestone Mindset balls have very profound markings on them, and in reading through past ones, alot of balls didnt.

Personally,  I used to mark mine just for identifying purposes,  but never for alignment needs.

Sometimes, on tricky putts, I would use the words from the balls model type on the sides,  but not often.

Now, with the bridgestone balls,  the mindset logo is very pronounced and I've used it with alignment for my tee shots more than anything. And when I do use it for putting, I will leave the logo facing towards the back, more to aid in matching the putter face.

Great question Rob. I couldn't get into the idea of using an alignment aid from anywhere but the putting green. Before trying the Maxfli Tour X and Mindset balls, I really didn't care for using them in that area either. Similar to you, I use the aid to match where I would like the face to contact after I set the line up, and it has worked out well so far.

I go back and forth but would only use a line while putting.   Sometimes I use one when I play sometimes I don't, sometimes I use one when I practice putting and sometimes I don't,   sometimes I just use the letting on the ball and sometimes I draw my own 🙂

You didn't have the right options for me to select so I just went with putting.

Edited to fix, thank you for noticing that! Again, was up for nearly 24 hours when I created it. Brain wasn't firing on all cylinders..😆

Like you, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. However with rhe mindset balls I made the effort to use them to maximize and determine what their intentions are behind them.

I'm in multiple camps/options.  Putting, I use a line, either with the one provided or one I made on my own.

Off the tee, I normally don't use one but will on occasion.

I use a line I apply when putting. With recent putting struggles I am considering not using the line to help focus more on speed.

Don't use alignment aid of the tee but have thought about it.

I spent the last 17 years playing a tight course. Fairways 20 yards wide in sections. I became much more accurate while using a line on my ball off the tee. I line up the line on the ball with my intended direction. Then while swinging all I did was making sure the club face swung down the line. So it is habit now.

I also use the line for putting.

I was taught to to tee the ball with a mark exactly on the back and to focus on hitting the mark squarely.  I did that for a while.  After a while I didn't need it.  I might start doing it again.

I never used the alignment mark on my putter until getting my current putter, an Odyssey "R Ball".  I am starting using the alignment line on the ball with the putter guide.
