Unofficial review Lombardi Golf 777 Putter

Recommended Posts

I'm an affiliate of Lombardi Golf and this is my unofficial unbias review.

First Impression- 10 out of 10

The Lombardi 777 putter was very impressive as soon as it came out the box, the head was polished to a brilliant shine, nice step less shaft and a 2.0 grip. Once I took a few practice swings, I said to myself… Self not only is this putter smooth but it feels really good.

Aesthetics- 10 out of 10

Head- The milling and shape of the head are superior, the craftsmanship is of the highest level, each cut has the precision that is the same if not better than the top brands on the market. The milled face has 2 different millings that is very affective with producing a good roll off the face. Site lines are very accommodating when lining up the putt and has a nice ¼ inch offset hosel which helps lining up putts. The head in general is TOP NOTCH rivaling all putter companies, for the golfer looking for a Top-quality putter… start here.

Can you Customize?  Most definitely, once you purchase a putter from Lombardigolf.com you can contact them directly and speak with Paul and see what options are available from stampings, paint color etc. They are always very accommodating.

Durability – Lombardi putters are built for the long-haul, top-quality materials that will last years.

Headcover- All putters come with a premium headcover, the 777 came with a fine white leather cover, plush cushioning and magnetic closure. Graphics are stitched making the headcover even more eye catching.

By the Numbers- 18 out of 20

As I tested the Lombardi 777 against a Ping Anser and Odyssey AI putter, the Lombardi performed very well, the 777 actually out performed the Ping the Odyssey during a couple tests. The 777 took top honors from 10 foot and in range, provided a better roll and distance control on longer down hill putts and held its own on the uphill putts. The only thing I would like to have done is test more on the breaking putts, I feel it was user error when the results were tallied for the breaking putts.

If you have any questions regarding the putters from the build, loft lie, grip the interactions with Lombardi are of the highest customer service you will ever receive.

After all tests were completed, the Lombardi 777 is definitely in the conversation with all the top brands.

On Course – 20 out of 20

From the putting green prior to the round through the final hole the 777 performed extremely well, the feel, roll of the ball and comfort level I have with this putter is great, at times I felt as though it made the stroke by itself and I was just there as a bystander.

Looking back and comparing the Lombardi and the Odyssey AI during playing conditions, they both were great, at times I feel one may have done better then on this hole and then the other better on the next. If I had to rank them it would be 1 then 1A there is no second when performance is discussed.

The Good- The Bad and The In-between - 17 out of 20

Good- Everything is good about this putter from playability, looks, durability, quality of the build and especially pricing.

Bad- I don’t really have anything bad to say about this putter.

In-Between- I would like to see a couple different hosel option for this putter from a short hosel to a shaft directly inserted into the head.

Play it or Trade it- 20 out of 20

I will definitely play it; it is currently in my bag and if I had the putt to win the Masters and any thing in between I would put the Lombardi 777 in my hands and trust it fully to do the job.

Conclusion- 95 out of 100

After all the testing, playing practicing I would recommend the Lombardi 777 putter for anyone looking to upgrade their game. Why would you want to pay an enormous price for a putter when you can and will get the SAME QUALITY at a GREAT PRICE, you won’t be disappointed!

Great review! I have the 1985 and Umbria models. So far I really like these putters! They are absolutely gorgeous and feel great. I got the chance to roll them along with my Tommy armour #2 wide blade in the living room on a practice putting green. The feel and weight are every bit as good or better than the Tommy armour (which I really love and have had quite a bit of success recently with). I hope to get my hands on a couple more of Lombardi putters to see which one if any really stand above the rest. The fact that these putters are as cheap as they are blows my mind!

I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, PXG 0311 P Gen 7 irons (4-GW), 54&58 degree Sub70 246 wedges, Tommy Armour #2 wide blade putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. When just getting a round in with friends or scrambling I play whatever I might find on the course or might find at the bottom of my bag.

Nice review!  The finish looks amazing!  I own 2 lombardigolf putters. The Limited edition Blue Dot,  and the Tour34 (that I built). The blue Dot isn't really my go to, bit it is heavy and putts really smoothly

The blue dot had the changeable weights.  I believe Paul is working on a new design coming soon that will have them again.

Looks great.  The face pattern looks extra aggressive. Just curious…. Are you finding the ball rolls well of it?

The ball contact is solid!  Again, the head is heavy, so speed control is definitely a short learning curve.

I still game my AI-ONE DB mostly, but since building the Lombardi Tour34 putter, (mallet) I do switch out occasionally to that too. Much more comfortable feel off the face and great with control.

Paul (the owner) has dozens of designs and styles available now,  and is expanding those lines quickly.

@buckpillar @OdinSnipes414, @Coulter all have different models too I believe.

Would love to have them chime in on theirs too.

I have the Umbria (blade) and the pinstripe (mallet) my buddy has the 1985 (blade). The Umbria I had the best putting round of my life with a few weeks ago before switching back to a mallet. I just find I have to focus a little more to keep my putting stroke consistent when using a blade so I made the switch back to a mallet. The 3 models I mentioned above are the 3 cheapest options Lombardi offers and I am really impressed by how well they perform! I REALLY wish I could try all of his models to see which one I really like but know that’s probably not going to happen. He has no many options out now and more coming that it’s hard to keep up but I personally am really excited to see them!

There are a couple of models that have adjustable weights and now he has a handful of center shafted face balanced models out that I’d love to give a try. By all accounts they are extremely forgiving.

I love that the site has the ability to customize each putter, shaft, grips too. For a little more you can have it sent out to Lee at WedgeF/X and have the head customized too!

The pinstripe looks a bit bigger than the tour34, and like you, would love to try out the other models.

I'm an affiliate and custom builder for Lombardi,

The milled face looks aggressive but to be honest it is just right, enough grip on the ball to produce a smooth roll, yet not sharp that it will affect the roll by grabbing the ball more in 1 area than the other.

Right now I'm gaming the Tour 34, it is a mallet with a similar style to the TM spider, the Tour 34 (with a steel shaft and 1.5 pistol grip) has a great balance to it and the ball comes off the face very nice, not a whole lot of skid. I customized mine by installing a 100gram graphite shaft with a 1.5 round grip similar to the superstroke. the weight and balance was incredible and in my opinion rolls the ball even better. The Pinstripe mallet is a great quality putter, the head is a bit on the lighter side but produces a nice roll. The Naso66 is an in between weight but the feel and roll are very nice.

If your looking for a blade the 777 (my first Lombardi) is a wonderful putter, great feel, roll and the milled face are awesome. The styling and weight are similar to a Scotty and the performance I feel is equal too but won't break the bank.

The Blue Dot (which I think stock on it is low right now) is a better putter than a Scotty, the weight, balance, feel, changeable weights and a beautiful style are second to none. I have one that I won in a drawing that rare gets used, It was customized by a company specifically for drawing, it's called the "Mission Maker" with a 100gram graphite shaft and a superstroke grip, it has Emerald inlays milled face and a custom green accent color to match the stones.  You can't go wrong with the Blue Dot -- off the hook quality and better performance than most of the putters on the market.

The Taormina is very similar also has similar quality to the Blue Dot with changeable weights. Biggest thing form the Lombardi putters --- you get High quality with tour quality performance plus  at a great price.

I'll put pictures of the ones I have below and if you have any questions please reach out I'll be happy to answer them all for you and make recommendations.

I have several different faces and that was my main concern too! The face really doesn’t  effect the roll at all!
