keefer0903
What are your thoughts on Scottie winning the gold medal and do you think he’ll be able to stay number one for as long as tiger was? Edited August 5 by keefer0903
Swood1994
I think Scottie deserved after a final round 62. Would’ve been nice to get Xander on the podium with him but I’ll take a USA gold any day! as far as Tiger’s World #1 streak record… I don’t think that is getting touched or broken for a very very long time, if at all. tempotown
Tiger's OWGR record will be untouched, forever. It seems like this year scottie showed some signs of humanity after his son was born (understandably) with his US open-Olympics performances, aside from travelers which is a birdie fest. That said when the guy is on he is not even close to number 2, Xander IMO, and Xander seems to have separated himself quite a bit from number 3. Scottie is clearly the closest we've seen to tiger since his prime from a ball striking perspective, and so far Xander seems to be the only guy who can give Scottie a scare on the big stages. So the question remains, who had the better year? Are majors more important that PGA Tour events? If so then it's Xander. Or are the Players and Olympics "mini-majors"? If that the case then it's Scottie. The FedEx Cup playoffs should be sick, especially since Xander is an East Lake machine, and it just went under renovation. JohnSmalls
Scottie reminded everyone that he is number 1 for a reason. When he is on, the rest of the field is playing for second. Xander has had a great year but if you are to name a POTY right now, I have to give it to Scottie. If Xander wants a shot, he's going to have to get arrested on the way to his Sunday tee time at East Lake, get his mug taken, and make it back in time to win the Fedex cup. keefer0903 and BIG STU 2 Quote Gameday Vessel Sunday 2.0/ Ogio Silencer Dynapwr Carbon | Hzrdus Smoke Black Mavrik 3w | Evenflow Riptide FG Tour F5 Hybrid(20,23) | MCA Fubuki Staff Model CB 5-PW | DG 120 Vokey SM7 (50, 54, 58) | DG 120 Studio Stock 15 -ProV1x (left dash) Romans 10:9 Classic Bag Jones Collegiate Clemson Stand Bag Eye 2 Laminate 1973 Staff Dynapower 4-PW Anser DUO
Javs
Scottie definitely has the talent and makeup to become a generational talent. However, like Tiger and Jack before him, he has to go out and do it. Many said the same about Rory. While an exceptional talent Rory hasn’t come close to Tiger or Jack. Only time will tell if Scottie is deserving of being in the same sentence with Tiger and Jack. That is an exceptionally high bar! Hook DeLoft
Tiger and Jack were great putters. Scottie has been a much better putter this year but I don't think he will ever be as good as Tiger and Jack on the greens. And yet, he's beating the best players in the world more often than anyone else since those two ... and has been doing so for 3 years now. What does it say about him that he can do that without holding the distinction of being a "great putter"?
