Accra Tour Z LS Shaft Review

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for a good high launch, low spin shaft for my SLDR/XTD Drivers (luckily they use the same adapter) and my search led me to the Accra Tour Z LS. I've been an Accra fan for a long time, so I am ecstatic to try this shaft out.

unnamed (2).jpg

The shaft is 85 grams (I like a heavy driver shaft) and the stiffness is M5 which equates to a stiff plus (I believe). I received the shaft yesterday and snapped a few phone pics, but I will make sure to grab some pics with the nikon.

The shaft has a really impressive finish to it, which is very similar to the old Matrix Ozik shafts (the rubberized finish). The Accra logos are surrounded with a reflective prism finish which gives it a nice, high dollar appearance.

That is basically it for the unboxing. I will follow up once it has been shafted.

From Accra:

Currently available in LS 45,65, 75, and 85, the ACCRA Tour Z LS line is the perfect compliment to the rest of the Tour Z line as a fairway wood shaft.  As a driver shaft, any golfer looking to increase their launch without the increasing their spin, the Tour Z LS is the perfect shaft.

This shaft is a throw back to the popular ACCRA SE series of shafts that was extremely popular amongst tour players for many years. Now, this shaft is incorporating a constant taper design for increased stability and the smoothest possible transfer of energy.  ACCRA Tour Z LS's responsive tip section promotes an increase in swing speed and draw bias. The low torque significantly adds stability and controls spin, enabling golfers to make aggressive swings without fear of increased spin or ballooning.  The ACCRA Tour Z LS may be the perfect combination of stability and power, and is excellent for complimenting the ST or CB line as the fairway wood option.  Thus, DyMatching your Tour Z's.

Ok! The shaft has been ready to go for two weeks, but I haven't been able to play for longer!

Yesterday, I was finally able to get out on the course and give it a swing. The range was too short for drivers so after a few holes I put it in play. The first shot must have had less than 1000 rpm of backspin because it landed dead into an uphill slope and still rolled about 25 yards.

Before I go any further, let me talk about my current gamer. It is a 9* SLDR 430. set to 10. At the time I got it I was struggling with a fade and the closed face helped a little bit. Launch and spin were great in the stock shaft and even better in the AXE. THe Tour Z LS in the SLDR weighs in at 45 in and about a D5.

I continued to use the SLDR the rest of the day and continued to struggle with an extremely low amount of backspin. Finally, towards the end of the round I decided to open up the head a few degrees in my hands and let me tell you, I hit some of the longest drives of my life. I hit a drive 280 into the wind on 16 and then hit a howitzer on 18 giving me a midiron into a par 5.

My initial reaction is pretty set with this shaft. If you need to dramatically reduce spin, you need to take a long hard look at the Accra Tour Z LS. It is the first and only low spin shaft I have ever used that really lived up to the hype. In the coming weeks I am going to tweak the settings and may even put it in the XTD (10.5 head vs 9.0 SLDR).

BestGrips has a launch monitor, however, my Bel Air has taken up residence in the hitting bay. I am very interested to find out how this stacks up the AXE (the BEST shaft in golf for the money).

Sounds like you need to LOFTUP+ with the sldr lol. I couldn't resist lol but it does sound like a great shaft, wish there were places around here to try it out.

Yeah. TBH, I like the shaft a helluva lot more than the head.

At $300, I think they are (and rightfully so) a little selective with who they allow to carry the shaft.
