Owen and I got out to River Heights yesterday and played the front nine. It was more of the same for me, unfortunately. My issue du jour is I'm popping up and also winding up on my back foot. Hoping for a little clarity at my lesson tomorrow. I can't get anything up in the air.
On a positive note I'm getting better at playing with the nonsense I'm bringing. Once I turn it around I think that'll be a boon to my course management. Owen shot +8 and I had a surprising +15 51.

Near the end of an otherwise horrendous round I had the "shot that brings you back" on 17. I was on the upslope of a mound just beyond the bunker and I got my lob wedge to one hop and bounce off the flag stick. Missed the putt but there's still something satisfying about that sound.

Got in 15 holes but ran out of time to finish all 18 before scramble league started tonight. Gonna try to finish off 16-18 over lunch tomorrow so I can post a “total” score. Bothers me I couldn’t get in, but was stuck behind a group of 4 ladies with 4 carts for the first four holes not sure they knew I was there for awhile. Some good stuff to report, but I’m going to make everyone wait

Looking forward to hearing about it!

Since I know we have some….
non-traditional bags… in this challenge. I’ll allow you to split them into groups as you see fit, but if you use it as a “wood” or “wedge” this week it’s would not be able to be used as an “iron” in a later challenge.
Well, shoot. Should have held my 3 wood out and identified it as an "iron" for later!

I walked 18 yesterday at River Heights yesterday as part of the Cobra Challenge. This week the challenge is to play sans irons. Not much of a challenge; I'm currently terrible with every club.
It had rained earlier and was windy and overcast so I had the course pretty much to myself. I think I'm starting to say this often, but it was one of the more frustrating rounds I've ever had. Weak hooks off the tee and almost every shot was badly chunked or topped. Just hacked and slashed my way around the course.
A positive part was my putting. Good speed and some really good lag putting. Couldn't quite read the line but no three putts.
Shot 49/54 (+31) 103. Having shot a couple rounds in the 80s earlier this year, it's just not a fun experience.

Really thought about using the set PW and GW as well but would have been left with just 7/8/9 irons for an irons challenge.
Or...do hybrids count as irons too? Asking for a friend

Look at all the late voters waiting to see a low round go up so they can make a decision. While team two is keeping their cards close to their chest until the last minute to post. It's all about the strategy isn't it! We'll see who has the last laugh.
Yeah! Haven't posted it yet, but I shot a 47 yesterday! Played with this guy, he can vouch for me.

Had another odd one today. Without bumping the button, I was getting a consistent unlock indicator. Really been waffling on whether I like the X5 or not lately.

Got a round in yesterday. Hoping to get a few more in this week as this one went the way I've been playing lately; not well.
The good: I'm really starting to come around on the putter. Some great lag putting and no three putts.
The bad: Everything else.
The ugly: Turns out my 52° can be my 150 club, just...not in the right direction and only from 80 yards away.

I wear the watch just a little higher on my arm, and I pull the strap on my glove up toward my index finger instead of straight across. The glove does not rub against the crown button that way for me.
I've got just enough taper near my wrist that every time I try to wear the watch a little higher it inevitably starts slipping down and just becomes a distraction. Never thought about trying the glove bit, though, will try it next.

Also, this "score discrepancy" thing seems new. I had bent down to repair a ball mark and noticed that I somehow marked a putt in the process. On a related note, it's starting to annoy me how often my glove rubs against the buttons on the side of the face. Going to try wearing the watch on my trail arm next round and see if it affects anything.

Had a couple of odd things yesterday. I turned the watch on and left it on the kitchen table to use the bathroom and when I came back it was on a screen I'd never seen before. I'm assuming it was the factory reset screen; when I cancelled or whatever I did to get back to the main screen the time and date were at roughly 730 on December 31st. Turning on the app and syncing squared that away.
Even weirder was after finishing the round and uploading to the app, I wound up with two "rounds." One went through 17, and the other was 16-18. 16 and 17 on the "main" round just had a couple of random shots plotted while the 16-18 round was more accurate, although there were a couple missing shots as well. Never seen an overlap before.
On the plus side I walked 18 on a pretty empty course in just under three hours and still had 60% battery life.

Looks great @Tom the Golf Nut! Looking forward to hearing what you think.

Sometimes you just gotta get professional help, I’m sure you’ll be happy you did.
Took two lessons last year, one of which was for this exact issue. Got me on track quickly and hoping for more of the same. Just difficult to pull the trigger because taking a lesson usually means one less round with family and friends.
At some point I need to be more mindful and get these things to stick but actual practice doesn't keep me engaged. Dumb, yeah. But...(shrugs)
