Hey Co-Commish ( @GolfSpy_APH) - just so I know how to sort to find out by which metric I'm losing by: for the Pick'em league, are we going by shots under par for the season long race, or FedEx points?  The description mentions FedEx, but the default sort of the league is shots under par, so just trying to getter gauge (again, for the entire season, and I know we're early here) what to focus on.

Obviously, they kind of go hand-in-hand - if I have 5 picks make the cut, they'll all get paid and earn FedEx points, but again - I know last year we did prize money, which we're changing up this year so that we're rewarding quality of team and not just picking the winner, but the FedEx language in the welcome is a bit vague (for my "I need to know what to do to crush those around me" competitive nature) 🙂

It's been a long weekend. What FedEx where?

I recently had a discussion with my wife about how some rounds are frustrating and in general about how hard the game of golf can be.  It really got me thinking about a topic and figured I would start one to see what everyone else has to say.

We never become perfect in golf, and I truly believe that this is something that keeps most of us coming back week after week.  Whether it is enjoying being outdoors walking the course, out with friends or co-workers, or competing in competitions, we are all out here because we love the game.

So, my question to the Spies is this: As you get better at the game of golf, does it become less fun and more about a personal contest within yourself or does the game continue to remain just as fun as when you started?

I was trying to explain to my wife that I have hard days on the course and it's not because I don't love the game or enjoy spending the time outdoors, but because I know that I could have played better.  I am honestly trying to think where that turn happened for me, where I quit saying, "I'm learning the game" and on to "I know I have this shot or could have played better."

Was it at a certain handicap or a particular moment in a round?

I know every day that I get on the course or out to the range that I love playing golf and that hopefully will never go away but I do have days that I am working on enjoying the round more.

Always remains fun. The expectations are higher, however that does not take away from thr enjoyment in any way.

  3. Be creative during practice, use different clubs, find different lies and different stances. While stock shots are great, it is rarely the case on the course with needing a foot higher than another or ball below the feet, above the feet, needing to hit a slope and bump it up and more. Find creative ways to make shots so when you get to the course you have some sort of idea of what club X will do if you do X or Y or Z

What was the reason for the move?  It's out of sight now, and the space where it was located is now blank.  Also, while the list is at the bottom of the home page, the date of last activity and number of posts is missing.  When wishing someone a Happy Birthday, it's nice to know who is active and whether they have been a contributor.

I was asked to clean up the side bars as there will be updated features going there in the near future. I wanted to keep it somewhere rather than remove it entirely and that was the best place for it.

    Raheem Morris:

4-7 as the Falcons interim head coach.

17-31 as Tampa Bay head coach.

21-38 as a career head coach.

But the players that played for him like and support him and he has two Super Bowl rings. So maybe, hopefully, he is the right guy at the right time.

I don't know what the answer is for the Falcons (as a big fan of the franchise). Was Bill the best long term answer? Likely not with his age, however he would have brought a prestige to the team which is undeniable. Would he have stayed on after coaching to do GM or other front office duties? Guess we will never know.

If Morris can get an excellent OC and get their last few seasons of draft picks involved and playing closer to their potential then we have a starting point. If a longer term solution can be found at QB then we are even better off. It is going to be a process, but I think any and all rebuilds are. Been a fan for a while and no point jumping ship after being through enough lows already. Just makes the highs and successes that much better.

Wasn't sure where to post this but here is a question for any legal beagals concerning these tours, prior to any merger. Some background. I can recall years ago when the PGATour and old European Tour were basically at each others throats to get the top players in their tournaments ( i.e. appearance fees sponsor exemptions). As I am watching the Farmers, I am thinking what if anything the PGATour could do if any sponsor really wanted a "big name" LIV player to be in their sponsored tournament to boost on site and possible tv viewership. Even if the player was so called "suspended", could the PGATour really do anything to stop the exemption especially since there is a seemingly exodus of sponsors from events as to money issues.

Moved your post here as all LIV related discussion goes here.

Really wanted to get at least one more round out on the course before I finished up my review but with the snow and extreme cold I didn’t see when that chance was going to come.  It was 9 degrees when I went to work Monday but was supposed to warm up but rain this week. I waited the rain out and Friday was a beautiful day out on the course.  Ended up being 69 degrees by the end of the round.

I had planned on walking 9 holes and if there wasn’t anyone behind me, I was going to take approach shots, and tee shots on par 3’s with both the Caley 01 irons and Ping g430 irons.  Golf pro ended up telling me to walk the back because it wasn’t nearly as wet as the front. There was no one else on the back at all so I hit multiple shots with both sets of irons on almost every hole.

i ended up hitting both sets really well when I had a good swing. Misses were still to the right or topped. Both due to poor swings. Both sets are very forgiving on miss hits.  Both sets are much more forgiving than my TaylorMade Rac OS irons. Today I had the distances dialed in a little better with the Caley irons. The Pings are a little stronger lofted.

It was pre impressive how well I hit the Caley irons similar to the Ping irons.  The Caley irons cost 1/2 the price and seem to perform just as well. By the time I got around to playing the front 9, I was completely worn out and hit both sets poorly and topped a lot of shots with poor swings.

The two par 3’s on the back I hit the greens with all 4 t shots I took with the Caley irons. Pretty impressive for me.

    Thanks for the update!

Love the ferrules on the PINGs!

There is no right way to set up a 14-way divided bag BUT if you set it up in a manner you find logical you will...

    A.  Find your desired club much faster.

    B. Know much sooner if you forgot a club on the last green.

    C.  Reduce the uncertainty period you likely exposition during club selection.

In my Sub Mountain C130, I go ""Z" pattern starting with driver on top left then four to seven iron in row two from the right onto eight to approach wedge right to left in row three with my 52, 56 and 60 left to right in row four with the putter in the provided well.

Whatever setup you pick is fine but it will make the three points I made above happen for you as well.

I'm going to jokingly disagree and say my way is the best way 😉

My biggest annoyance with 14 way bags is that the orientation changes if you are driving a cart or using a push cart.

Just tried out the speed training app. I don't have a speed training device so just chose the "other" option and swing the driver as best I could.

First swing read 10 mph higher than anything I've ever put up. Next couple were on the high side average. Then a couple that read 0mph before I quit testing my luck.

Not the best set of controls but my initial test is that it needs a bit of dialing in. Still, when there is no ball to worry about, swinging for the fences really alerts you to what your body is capable of.

Now it's time for some ice.

Love this device. Can't wait to get it back outside when the season changes.

I'm guessing much like when the device first came out there will be servesl patches and updates to help dial it in.

This is great, Jamie. I might have missed it, but where did you get the golf grip adapter? I used an air compressor with the pointed nozzle, and that worked fine, but the adapter looks as thought it would be a little easier to handle the grip.

Also, I used tape and solvent as well because I never tried regripping without them. Next month I'm planning to regrip my driver and hybrids, so I can't to try your method.

You can get it through Star Grips. The guy is actually based in Sweden so close to us!

I don't have a bucket list of courses to play. I can't afford to play any of the well known courses because the price to play the courses are out of my income bracket.

So if we take money out of the equation and you are gifted a free round anywhere, where is that course going to be?
