No game available today, so I played the inside 9 (We have a 27 hole course and the inside 9 is the original course that doesn't get as much play).   Hit 7 of 7 fairways, only 3 of 9 greens, and putted 17 times for a 4 over 39.  I call this more practice because I did drop additional balls periodically (but didn't count them in scoring).  The inside 9 is the longer and more difficult 9 of the 27 holes we have.

Good work out there Carl! I'm so pleased it seems that you're though the "bad" stuff and back in the saddle. Keep hitting them true my friend!

Hit one bucket with new Mizuno irons. Broke it up PW, 8i & 6i. Tried nice easy swings with good ball contact & no shoulder pain. Went well, decent ball flight a couple of thin scankers and NO shoulder soreness. Good morning.

Soooooo glad you are getting back into it Big Rick! Keep at it Bud!

The elevated par-4 17'th tee box from the tips at Boise Ranch (not me hitting...nor to the left...took pic...)

Best view in Boise. Hit right at Shafer Butte which overlooks Bogus Basin Ski resort in the shadowed mountains way up there and you'll have about 170 or so (for me any-hoo) to carry the creek that runs in front of the green's false-front. I had hit a perfect one this time then had a laser 7w that put me on in 2. Bogie...

  4. Had GG re-tip my Aldila Tour Blue driver shaft for G410 from G400. My mileage is varying, and the jury is still out, but initial impressions over the original Mitsubishi Tensei Orange are good. Need to play some more with the hosel adjustments to fine tune it in. Just another experiment to see if it'll help me better translate great range data to better actual play. I also really want to try the PING Tour 65 shaft which I also hear a lot of positive things about. Somethings gotta give. I crush those stupid Pinnacle Practice balls every time and yet it seems I get no more than 200, 210 out there with my Snell's with that damn power-fade being omnipresent. I think the Tensei is just giving me too much side spin. I hope I can tame this beast. I need it!

  5. A very symmetrical 44/44 with 8 pars and no birds despite having looks at 3 of them. 3'rd sub-90 round in as many weeks. I could get used to this! 😎

Putting was OK, while scrambling was an A+ since I used my 8i more often than my 60* for more controllable bump-n-runs rather than spraying flop shots with my many near-green missed approaches. Driver was "meh" though with a recent shaft change I "think" it was better on the course. Of course it was a monster on the range, but it seems rare to have that warm-up translate to actual play which is something I gotta figure out...in a hurry! FW's as usual saved my bacon most of the day with 2 fine 7w shots that were, for me, amazing left-to-righters that went flag hunting on both, just a little long.

  6. After a quick stretch, I usually start with PW to work the kinks out. A few 1/2, 3/4 then full shots. Then I go 8i for 5, 6i for 5, 7w, 3w & finally driver. Then back down the bag hitting al the odd-numbered clubs for a few shots. Then I'll usually grab the 9i or PW (sometimes 8i) again and start trying to pepper a certain target. Then off to the putting green.

  7. PING Apologist: APPORVED!!! Enjoyed the mini-review and am glad you landed on something that has increased your enjoyment of the game. I've been picking these up and trying them myself and like them a lot-especially the looks. But, the shop I frequent also has a S2 Fetch which I wasn't immediately attracted to on looks alone, but , DAMN! I love how that one feels and performs too! Tried it over & over against the Tyne, Valor 400 and several Scotties they had in the same rack and just kept coming back to it. Gotta somehow get it in my hands permanently!

    Roll 'em true out there!

Personally, I wish we’d see more offerings in the higher lofted woods. As@tsauer has said and myself included, hybrids are not always the easiest to hit.

Now if you were to hand a golfer a 7 or 9 wood and have them take some swings, I’d bet the results would be a very positive outcome.

My latest addition to my bag is a G410 SFT 7w with a stock Alta (s) shaft. It is really amazing and fit right into an awful gap I had between 5i & 3w. For some reason, I had troubles with my 4i and confidence with it was always low. Knowing that I hit FW's pretty well and consistently, it blended right in with them and solved that gap issue and has had an immediate positive impact on my game.

I've read al the posted stage-1's so far and nice work everybody! Really dig this review and am looking forward to watching you all progress.

Dum dum dum.  WE HAVE A NEW LEADER!   @sirchunksalot, way to step up and take over the top spot.

I don't know how long it will last though...I think @HardcoreLooper has a low round left in him and @MaxEntropy has the Molitor Cocktails on deck to go to the top.

*One week left!  Who has it in them to win this thing?

    (and the top prize)

Looks like it's time for me to bust out my Nitro... It'll be against doctor's orders, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do...🤕

So tomorrow is the first day of the Am, and I am excited.  I have been hitting balls on the range and have been playing as much as I can (dad of 3 so in between taking kids to swim practice, swim meets and working).  There are only 56 players in the field and the top 36 qualify.  This is a three day event, the first two days are to qualify, the third is a two round day.  I was able to secure a babysitter for Monday and Tuesday, I did not even bother with getting one for Wednesday.  I know some of you out there will say I should set my sights higher, but I am trying to be realistic with my first event ever.  Trust me, I will try my best to qualify but I am sure my handicap is the highest in the field.  I know I could have a good round or two and someone else could have a bad few days, that's golf, but I am in this for the experience not for the prize.  I will keep you all posted after my first round.  I have to work today at the course, and then I will go out after and get 9 holes in.  We shall see...

Stay stress-free, enjoy the experience and have a blast! Best of luck to you out there! Cheers!!!

I always judge my round on how well I hit the ball compared to how I know I can hit the ball.

Couldn't agree more! Many poorly-scoring rounds for me were some of my "better" ones because at least I was having a decent ball-striking day. They may have been going off into the weeds, but they were "pure"! Many times I am simply satisfied with a good hit and if it is off-line, so be it. I'll just say to myself; "that was a damn good hit!" and walk away with the knowledge that I know I have the ability and only need some little tweaks here & there...

... Your score is always irrelevant to others scores. Playing better, improving and having fun while dong so is what is important. As a competitor my whole life, my last serous competition was travel team tennis and it became glaringly apparent that getting to a high level meant playing with most other every day players was difficult to impossible. Therein lies the beauty of golf. I can shoot under par and have a great time with someone breaking 100 if they rarely do so. Positive energy and the joy of playing the game is equal shooting a 99 or a 70. So congrats on continuing to pursue that "good round" and never again worry about your score compared to others. 👍

Well said Chi! So well said!

My lost clubs showed up on the front porch a little while ago - all accounted for. I’m sooo relieved.

Just getting caught up with this one...WHEW! Sorry for the troubles there but so glad it worked out!

Played nine and can happily say I shot a 47. Maybe not great for others here. But anything in the 40’s is a good day for me. Just swung in tempo and I let the club head do the work. Watched my aim and ball position and gravity did the rest. Club felt like an anvil in my hands. Hope I can remember and keep that heavy feeling next time out. Really feel like I have a good round in me this summer. Just where and when is the million dollar question

47 is nothing to be ashamed of...heck it's my usual score to be honest. So long as you have a good time, can relax a bit and enjoy the game, who cares what the bleeding score is..?! Have fun out there and keep plugging away! Cheers!
