Good morning MGSpies on a cool but sunny WNY Saturday. Played 18 yesterday that was like Derek of old with plenty of singles and doubles to keep the handicap from sinking down anytime soon, and then the 17th and 18th holes the game became two pars bringing the card in double digits at 98. Today is PGA HOPE Down Range for program graduates at Niagara Frontier GC, looking forward to more golf with best friends some of whom I might not know yet. Hope golf is a part of your day!

Good afternoon all,
Just wanted to quickly introduce myself to the community. I’m a former golf course superintendent from a top facility in Western, NY. For all intensive purposes I really only picked the game up back in 2020 after taking a new sales position within the industry. I have been trying since to become the best possible player I can be. I still serve the golf course industry, with a concentration in the maintenance/turf sales side of the game. I love helping out other superintendents all over Western NY and Western PA to help them produce the best possible scoring conditions for all of us. Love the golf industry and look forward to getting to know some of you through this great online community of golf nuts. If you have any questions with regards to playing conditions or grass itself, feel free to reach out.
What’s in the bag:
Ping G24 Max, Titleist F13 3-wood, Taylor Made TW 3I, Titleist 2012 AP2s with True Temper X100 shafts, 4 Vokey Wedges 48, 52, 56, 60, and a Scotty Newport 2.
Definitely need an upgrade for the irons and wedges, little older but still work quite well. Wedges if anything are old and worn but with two young boys, makes it hard to justify spending the cash right now.
Look forward to hearing from some of you.
Thanks,
Matt.
Matt, it's good to see another Western NYer in the forum and one from the second best city in the region so you know I am kidding, son has been at RIT 4 years now and I had a 4 year Army Reserve command in Webster, also was chosen to play the PGA HOPE Secretary's Cup at Penfield and was a Standard Bearer for the PGA Championship at Oak Hill both in May this year. I'm an active Graduate of the WNY PGA HOPE section and volunteer and many of the sessions being held this summer across the WNY Section.
No question you will find some great people here in the Forum and meetups are a great way to connect and get involved with people like me who also contribute frequently. Hope our paths cross on the golf course and across the area.
Welcome in!

Good morning MGSpies from an autumn teaser in summer WNY Friday with highs expected in the 60s, will be 80s by Sunday, this post delayed due to whatever was causing the Forum 504 Gateway timeout error. PGA HOPE session 1 of 6 at NFGC last night was also under heavy skies but nothing fell from the clouds, putting was the focus as it always is for session 1 so lots of good conversation centered on golf around the practice greens. Community Call did not work for the drive time so looking forward to next week. Today's tee time is 3:40 at my home course so a chance at a full 18 for 27 holes to consider for the VCT Weekly post. Tomorrow is a 9 hole round again at NFGC for the PGA HOPE Down Range day in the afternoon. Hope golf is a part of your day!

Yeah, sorry about that! I used a new link and put it in the thread and in the "Join here" link at the top of the main thread, but didn't know how to change the link in the banner - apologies!
Combination of factors then, I pulled over to see if there was anything in the thread and with my phone I was not able to navigate to the thread was not riding the short bus at the time but I was handicapped by my phone I am still trying to get used to how it functions, with it the frustration is real

I tried to join but no one let me in
I used the link on the banners and waited to be let into the room, and it would time out. Tried all the way along my hour long drive to NFGC. Figured it was popular enough to not have enough room for more. Disappointed at missing the call now reading that others were able to get in. Looking forward to next week... glad it worked for those who were able to share the way we enjoy spending the time together

No not chocolate ice cream (which is what it was originally) and that was the sample we chose not to have in our name (it was voted down!)
That one is in Smileys and Emoticons, the is in Activiies - Like the L.A.B. Golf icon too

Alright, @GolfSpy TCB and @Golf2Much we've got our official team name:
L.A.B. Results: In the Cup - reporting for (wait for it) doody.
I swear the name wasn't my idea, but the "doody" part, of course, was.
You will ALL be #2 when playing against us.
Don't forget the emoji (can't forget the emoji)
L.A.B. Results: In The Cup
Helps to have fewer poopy jokes unless you're Matt of course.

Good morning MGSpies on an already getting hot WNY Thursday with a forecast high of 80 humid this afternoon and hopefully not unbearable as this time of summer can often be, fun fact - air conditioning was invented in Buffalo NY by the Carrier Corp turn of the 20th century so if it invented here it had to be for a good reason like a mechanical air wringer.
Community call later on will be again my drive-time entertainment heading from home to the first of six PGA HOPE sessions at Niagara Frontier GC again, just like May to June was! How awesome the Lean Lock opportunity is announced today making it a trifecta! Hope golf is a part of your day!

Good morning MGSpies from a wet to start WNY where golf did not happen yesterday with rain canceling many people's plans and postponing HOPE sessions from Erie to Rochester and everything in between and what did it for me was partner's opting out and family heirlooms needing moving from a house being made ready to sell to my house, the consolation prize well worth a step back from the tee - dinner out under a canopy on the deck of the restaurant watching the deluge soaking everything while enjoying excellent company and hot food in comfort hot coffee is ready while work systems are slow as a flood to get going this morning, tee time this afternoon will probably be the the last with long time fellow Scout Dad and playing partner for a long time to come, his imminent move to the Rockies foothills next week removing all future plans. Hope golf is a part of your day!

Your scores are good enough to play with my group anyday. There are a few MGSpy regulars who live in the Rochester area, keep your eyes peeled for member signatures below their posts and also refer to the Community Map for where members have posted their locations. Good morning MGSpies from a quiet still downtown Buffalo in the parking spot listening to Through My Eyes by Rameses B on Pandora and barely sipping the still too hot coffee in the stainless steel vacuum mug Hot in 18 holes with family at 7:20am yesterday and 9 holes with regular partners at 5:10pm, all of it walking and enjoying a fabulous day. 5 days away from work and 3 of them playing golf, summer in WNY doesn't get much better hope golf is a part of your day next tee time 4:10 today

I do solemnly swear that I will be able to play 1 round a week beginning September 1, to obey the leadership appointed over me, to bear true faith and allegiance to the same, and bring victory to the team (under whatever name we play (oh pppplease be something with L.A.B. in it)) so help me @GolfSpy SAM
(notice I closed all the opened parentheses - learned that with a stack of computer cards back in college learning programming in FORTRAN 79 when a missed closed parenthses gets a one page "syntax error" (it's always a tax without representation)
oops)

Date 08/14/2023 Course Name Glen Oak Golf Club Gross Score 101 Course Handicap 25 Gross Strokes over/under par 29 Net Score to Par 4 Net Score 76 Net Birdies or better 3 Longest Drive 178 Early 7:20 tee time and humid morning noted dew still on the grass despite the sunshine at 9:30 finishing up the front 9, burned off by the time we got to the 16th fairway. One par for the day with a chip on no-putt. Good round for play but a few extra hits to bring it in over handicap. Next time there I will pay more attention to the recommended tee numbers for which one to use based on driver distance and roll.
And here's the only time I'm going to lead the Tournament, when I can post early 4 over top of the leader board hahaha

Good morning MGSpies from east of the vertical line to the sun and a beautiful sunny WNY Sunday. Hoped to be home before noon but hitching up the utility trailer to start packing up the campsite, heard squeaks moving it to the ball. One wheel turned like normal the other one squeaked so immediately interrupted site breakdown for wheel bearing maintenance, pulled the wheel, bearing grease cap, split pin, castle nut, washer and outer bearings to find the trip Thursday in heavy rain had washed out the inner bearing grease. I use axel grease for the hitch ball so packed the hub housing using my finger to push the grease in as far and as much as would go in and finished the job. Then struck camp and was the last to leave some time after the rest. It's great to be prepared and know what to do, and thank goodness I needed to drive Thursday and Friday for golf or if it had stayed hitched I would not have been able to hear the squeaky wheel when I did. Hope golf is a part of your day

Good morning MGSpies would have been right several hours ago so good evening as it is also past afternoon here in EST land. WNY had a good weather day and first half spent with a run to Rochester and son's RIT apartment taking a few things to him now his roommates are moving back in and his internship has officially ended. Took him for brunch at a delightful spot Spies in Rochester area will recognize, Sonny's on W. Henrietta Rd and then spent a while sealing the fittings for the luggage rack on the boot of the MG Midget to stop water ingress whenever it rains. This afternoon back at the homestead was on lawn mower duty turning front and back into Luis XIV quality lawns (you know that's why we have them right?) No golf today but there will be tomorrow! Hope golf was a part of your day
