    Good afternoon all,

Just wanted to quickly introduce myself to the community. I’m a former golf course superintendent from a top facility in Western, NY. For all intensive purposes I really only picked the game up back in 2020 after taking a new sales position within the industry. I have been trying since to become the best possible player I can be. I still serve the golf course industry, with a concentration in the maintenance/turf sales side of the game. I love helping out other superintendents all over Western NY and Western PA to help them produce the best possible scoring conditions for all of us. Love the golf industry and look forward to getting to know some of you through this great online community of golf nuts. If you have any questions with regards to playing conditions or grass itself, feel free to reach out.

    What’s in the bag:

    Ping G24 Max, Titleist F13 3-wood, Taylor Made TW 3I, Titleist 2012 AP2s with True Temper X100 shafts, 4 Vokey Wedges 48, 52, 56, 60, and a Scotty Newport 2.

Definitely need an upgrade for the irons and wedges, little older but still work quite well. Wedges if anything are old and worn but with two young boys, makes it hard to justify spending the cash right now.

Look forward to hearing from some of you.

    Thanks,

    Matt.

Matt, it's good to see another Western NYer in the forum and one from the second best city in the region 😉 so you know I am kidding, son has been at RIT 4 years now and I had a 4 year Army Reserve command in Webster, also was chosen to play the PGA HOPE Secretary's Cup at Penfield and was a Standard Bearer for the PGA Championship at Oak Hill both in May this year.  I'm an active Graduate of the WNY PGA HOPE section and volunteer and many of the sessions being held this summer across the WNY Section.

No question you will find some great people here in the Forum and meetups are a great way to connect and get involved with people like me who also contribute frequently.  Hope our paths cross on the golf course and across the area.

    Welcome in!

Yeah, sorry about that! I used a new link and put it in the thread and in the "Join here" link at the top of the main thread, but didn't know how to change the link in the banner - apologies!

Combination of factors then, I pulled over to see if there was anything in the thread and with my phone I was not able to navigate to the thread 🤔 was not riding the short bus at the time but I was handicapped by my phone I am still trying to get used to how it functions, with it the frustration is real 💥

I tried to join but no one let me in 🤷🏻‍♂️

I used the link on the banners and waited to be let into the room, and it would time out.  Tried all the way along my hour long drive to NFGC.  Figured it was popular enough to not have enough room for more.  Disappointed at missing the call now reading that others were able to get in.  Looking forward to next week...  glad it worked for those who were able to share the way we enjoy spending the time together 🙂

Alright, @GolfSpy TCB and @Golf2Much we've got our official team name:

L.A.B. Results: In the Cup  - reporting for (wait for it) doody.

I swear the name wasn't my idea, but the "doody" part, of course, was.

You will ALL be #2 when playing against us.

Don't forget the emoji (can't forget the emoji)

L.A.B. Results: In The Cup ⛳

Helps to have fewer poopy jokes unless you're Matt of course.

How long have you been playing golf? 3 Years

hat’s your handicap or normal score?  I score high 90's to low 100's any given day. My best round is a 93 on a par 70.

What do you love about golf?  Exercise, Camaraderie, challenge

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Club Research initially, but I have participated in the forums on occasion

Do you already know any other Spies? No

Where are you from? Rochester, NY

What is your home course? Genesee Valley, a muni

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? Seasonal. Only get about April through early October

What do you do for a living? Real Estate Appraisal

How’d you pick your user name?  Most of it was given to me by my parents

My hobbies other than playing golf, are buying and selling golf clubs. But I've learned, you cannot buy a game.   Other hobbies include Bowling, darts and pool.  But I am much better at those than I am at Golf.

I love playing Genesee Valley GC North Course and try to get out a couple times there each year with my son who is in his 5th year of a 5 year degree at RIT.   Your scores are good enough to play with my group anyday.  There are a few MGSpy regulars who live in the Rochester area, keep your eyes peeled for member signatures below their posts and also refer to the Community Map for where members have posted their locations.  Good to see you posting on the Forum, keep on writing!  And welcome in! ⛳

  6. I do solemnly swear that I will be able to play 1 round a week beginning September 1, to obey the leadership appointed over me, to bear true faith and allegiance to the same, and bring victory to the team (under whatever name we play (oh pppplease be something with L.A.B. in it)) so help me @GolfSpy SAM

(notice I closed all the opened parentheses - learned that with a stack of computer cards back in college learning programming in FORTRAN 79 when a missed closed parenthses gets a one page "syntax error" (it's always a tax without representation)

    oops)

  7. Date 08/14/2023
Course Name Glen Oak Golf Club
    Gross Score 101
    Course Handicap 25
    Gross Strokes over/under par 29
    Net Score to Par 4
    Net Score 76
    Net Birdies or better 3
    Longest Drive 178

Early 7:20 tee time and humid morning noted dew still on the grass despite the sunshine at 9:30 finishing up the front 9, burned off by the time we got to the 16th fairway.  One par for the day with a chip on no-putt.  Good round for play but a few extra hits to bring it in over handicap.  Next time there I will pay more attention to the recommended tee numbers for which one to use based on driver distance and roll.

  8. Good morning MGSpies from east of the vertical line to the sun and a beautiful sunny WNY Sunday. Hoped to be home before noon but hitching up the utility trailer to start packing up the campsite, heard squeaks moving it to the ball. One wheel turned like normal the other one squeaked so immediately interrupted site breakdown for wheel bearing maintenance, pulled the wheel, bearing grease cap, split pin, castle nut, washer and outer bearings to find the trip Thursday in heavy rain had washed out the inner bearing grease.  I use axel grease for the hitch ball so packed the hub housing using my finger to push the grease in as far and as much as would go in and finished the job. Then struck camp and was the last to leave some time after the rest. It's great to be prepared and know what to do, and thank goodness I needed to drive Thursday and Friday for golf or if it had stayed hitched I would not have been able to hear the squeaky wheel when I did. Hope golf is a part of your day ⛳
