Just bungie the bag sideways across the pillion, I do it all the time on either of my bikes.

I did a similar setup for a short while, but  I found that it put too much weight toward the back wheel and made steering too light.  However, both of my bikes are under 500lbs.

I didn't think of that. The M50 is only 540lbs. Not sure I'd do it anyway, but I like the idea.

If I was going more than 10-15 miles, I would use http://www.eaglematetrailers.com/index.htm but the truth is, I've yet to find a real need for it.  I usually just bungie the carry bag with the rain hood all buttoned up on it to the pillion seat of the Ducati or the Piaggio.  The only 'problem' is that one time I didn't zip the ball pocket all the way and bounced a couple of balls down the road in a left turn :-)

Also, FWIW, I love the ride of the M50, the M90 is a touch heavy IMO, but the M50 is a nice balance.

Wow, that's a serious solution for carrying a bag. Costs nearly as much as my bike did :)

 

Also, FWIW, I love the ride of the M50, the M90 is a touch heavy IMO, but the M50 is a nice balance. 

 

 

Yeah, I'm really excited. I haven't actually ridden it yet because A. It's really cold out and B., I don't know how yet. But I got a really good deal so I'm definitely looking forward to Spring.

I fall into the serious category.  I ride year round.  I have three bikes, a Ducati ST4s, a Piaggio BV500 and a  Vespa PX150. As far as I am concerned, if it's above 0f, it's riding weather, *but* I don't do ice, and on snowy/wet days, I generally use the Vespa, if I drop it, I don't really care, it is a beat up rust bucket that weighs less than 300lbs soaking wet.  

 

I would rather be out in the air than inside a cage :-)

I actually built a similar setup for my 76 Electra Glide but I made it where I took the right hard saddle bag off and utilized the mount to mount a carry bag

Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha  Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee. That would be a better setup as it gets the CoG lower and forward to make for better weight balance.
