So, who else is retaining water this week besides me? I have no idea how that is happening as I drink 8 to 12 glasses of water a day and move around a bit.

 

I'll keep an eye on it and try and find out what's going on in the following weeks.

Seems to me an awful lot of water? Can you have too much ?

Hmm interesting. I'm drinking a lot of water as well but it's going out as fast as it's going in. I know that water has a positive effect but retention??

Yes especially if you have congested heart failure. If you are retaining water be careful it can put strain on your heart by increasing your blood pressure to move the blood through the water you are retaining. I suggest going to you primary care doctor and talking to them before you start to retain water in your lungs also.

Definitely! I'm sure you feel better and like you said your strength is gaining. I've only lost 4-5 lbs in January but I feel a hell of a lot better my swing feels like it's coming back and one notch less on my belt!! Life is good for old farts [emoji106]

I've lost 5 lbs since we kicked off this wingding however I've lost even more since I started my own little challenge.  I hope everybody is still focused on their health and working towards a healthy lifestyle.  It's the only you you got so take care of yourself and it feels good to feel good!  ;)

You should drink 2/3 of your body weight in ounces per day, according to that I should be drinking 168 ounces of water a day, that's about a gallon and a half. There is no chance I can drink that much water in 3 days let alone 1 day.

I think I finally got my calories in order. Lost 4 pounds this week to make it back to 330. For about a 9lb weight loss this past month. Let's see what I can do for feb!

Been logging all my food and exercise, lost 4 lbs last week. However, on Thursday I was 8min into a 30 minute treadmill walk when I felt a sharp pain in my left ankle(the bad one!) I could not walk on it that night. The next morning I tried to play and finally cut the pain with 4 50 mg Advil. I was able to play in the Club Championship (sat & sun) which I finished next to last. So I am having difficulty getting the walking in.

BP yesterday was 134/73 which is lower than when I was on medication (which the Doc took me off). It could be from partying a bit too hard on Friday night.

It's tough when you, your wife and ya dog are on a diet.  Even though I've cut back a large amount of unnecessary stuff in my diet, I still have to eat.  The problem being when I eat, my dog gives me the stinky eye.  She only gets a certain amount every day and at times the poor dog acts like she's starving. I get me a healthy snack and she puts on the poor puppy dog eyes that makes me feel bad.....  :(

I'm still not losing much weight but am thrilled with my workouts. I've increased the reps in every exercise I'm doing. Next step is to cut more of the sugar out of my diet. Oh and if I drink any more water I'm going to float away.

You got that right!  :D

 

Don't worry about shedding them pounds as that will come.  Stay focused on a life change and once you get in that mode all the other stuff will come along.  Good on you for the exercise and ya heart will thank ya!

Weight same 219 staying stagnant. Played 18 this morning tried to walk as much as I could. Played terrible, 86.

After golf went to gym and worked out with the TRX again. Getting to really like that equipment!

That figure came from an internet source. I did talk to my SIL who is an NP, and a marathon runner, she said that drinking 64 ounces of water a day is enough. More is good, but 64 is plenty.

I will say that my workouts have stalled right now. First week of my new job and we have not done any PT in the academy like expected probably due to it being mostly paperwork. After the drive and class it's been 11 or 12 hours since I was home last so I haven't been working out on my way home. I have however been eating better and not snacking on anything unhealthy since I only take fruit or veggies as a snack. Gonna start doing some small stuff at the academy today when they give us 10 minute breaks. Start doing push up and sit ups during the break and maybe walk the steps of the training building as many times as I can.

An update on my exercise program:

 

Still going strong - working out every day since the beginning of January. As I commented in my initial updates I was looking to lose a bit of weight (8-10 lbs), but more importantly strength and flexibility. On the latter, I started the 'Yoga for Golf' program DVD by Katherine Roberts. I am amazed at the flexibility and rotation even after completing a few sessions. If you told me I would be doing yoga I'd laugh and say 'yea right'.

 

The DVD's I got were the 'par level'. I have no interest or financial gain here but just thought if its an area you're working on you might want to give it a try.

I must be getting stronger, the house I hit easily this morning I couldn't even reach B4. So I guess I'm one house longer [emoji106]

BTW, homeowner wasn't thrilled but don't buy a house on a narrow Par 4 with water all down the right side. [emoji16]
