Weight Loss Thread

I was thinking too, that make sure you are on a good meal plan, not eating can hurt you in trying to lose weight. You have to eat, but you have to eat healthy food, not all snacking is bad, nuts, carrots, and other veggies are healthy snacks that can help with hunger issues if you need to snack. Keep on track, it takes time to lose.

Rowing machine is great. Only cardio I can use without knee hip problems. Treadmill, Elliptical, bike are out.

Keep it up

If you are using a concept 2 rowing machine, they have “competitive” races and stuff. Plus an app that lets you watch a MARIO like dude row a boat across your phone screen. Planning on doing 2.5+ hours on this beast for the near future.

It is the Concept 2. I've been doing either the 2000m or 4000m. It's actually a good little machine. Not many use it, they fight over the treadmills, Elliptical & bikes.

I got one heck of a good workout from it. I will continue to use it from now on and the 2000m sounds like a good start.

2000m - holy mackerel that's a workout. Does the machine monitor heart rate and total calories burned?

That man is one of the strongest in the world deadlifts 1000 lbs, lifts stones nearly 500lbs, and squats 700 lbs for nearly 25 reps. I would have loved to workout with him when I was training for strongman.

Not sure about heart rate, but the app does do calories burned.

Calories yes, heart rate no.

If you don't have a heart rate monitor you might want to consider one for maximum effectiveness on fat burning/weight loss. See attached article.

Weighed in at 226 this week, so I'm down 6 pounds. Not entirely fair because I was sick and didn't eat much for 2 days a little over a week ago. Portion control is big for me. I've also started doing exercises to strengthen my core.

I shoot for 2:00 - 2:15 per 500m on 10 for now. Go from there. It definitely will get you whipped into shape.

I did the 2000m in 9 minutes on 10 it kicked my butt after running 1.5 miles on the treadmill, I'm happy to run 1.5 miles for the first time in a few years.

It felt slow to me I probably shouldn't have done a bicep workout before the rowing machine I think I could have gone faster. My goal will be to beat it every time from here on out.

I'm still being careful, even with the row machine I'm pushing off putting some pressure on my knees. Last thing I want to do is screw my knees up any worse than there are so I'm “easing” into it.

Understandable I'm young and dumb so I can push and will push myself lol. Do what you can remember we are here for the long haul not for the sprint. Remember I'm going to be pushing harder than I did the first two weeks to get myself ready for the fire academy.

Well... I messed up my shoulder yesterday pretty bad again. Doc on Monday, I'm guessing surgery is next up. So, I'll be running, and running.

Keep up the good work Gents!

Sounds like that may put a crimp on golf this spring?

I have at least 3 months to recover if surgery is needed. So I hope not.

Hope PT can work for you. It worked for my shoulder last year.

Edit: of course my shoulder are bone spurs and Doc said surgery was absolutely last on the list.
