Is Streamsong Resort for the "Elitist" Golfer?

This is really a two part question honestly.  

1. Is Streamsong Resort an elitist resort, because it's really expensive to play?
2. Would you even consider playing in the following event, considering how much it costs?

I guess I am on their email list, so I got this via email, but the pricing of this event just screams elitist to me.  I mean, I'm a working class guy, and there's no way I could ever afford anything like this.

The flip side of this I guess is that I bet this event sells out and they have as many players as they can fit on the golf course.  Funny thing to me is that this is a walking event, so I'm guessing there will be a few caddies in the mix too, which I'm guessing will add to the cost.

A two-part reply to a two-part question.  Yes, and yes.  Many many resorts are "elitist", in that the cost a bunch of money.  That of itself eliminates a whole lot of people.  On the other hand, most are also "non-elitist", in that you don't need special connections, you don't have to wear fancy clothes, you don't need to come from the "right family", all you have to do is pay your money.  

And I'd consider this, for sure.  Having looked at the cost for Streamsong before, and having visited Kohler, WI, the price for this competition isn't really excessive.  I'm not going to lead the charge in putting together a team, but I'd give it some thought if a buddy was interested.

Got the same email today. Living in Tampa Bay, Streamsong is just a short drive away. However, it is not yet on my bucket list as I have no Buddies willing to pay up to play....besides we all need carts. P.S. they do have carts for some of the courses.

Got that email too - I suppose it is elitist to some - out of my price range unless it’s gifted to me or I decide to sacrifice something else

But look at the value - 2 nights, two rounds, there’s some bang for the buck there. My club’s member guest is 640 without accommodations but more food and golf.

Top resorts are expensive and to some extent exclusive. It will sell out - it’s essentially two rounds of golf there with free luxury accommodations.

So on the other hand it’s a bargain.

GSwag we need to find a tourney at World Woods to play in!

If you find something, hit me up, as I'm in.  Another idea for you is to see if there is a tournament that the FSGA is putting on in your area that we could play in.  I'm driving down to Orlando for the FSGA Foursomes Championship https://www.fsga.org/Tournament/Details/58bb20f0-0692-4a0b-9018-cd403f787589 which is at Grand Cypress on December 7th and 8th.  A buddy of mine here locally and I are going to give this alternate shot thing a try, and it's been years since I've played Grand Cypress.

If you look at the FSGA schedule you'll find a bunch of two-man team tournaments.  And I believe the FSGA hosts a tournament or two every year at World Woods.  I'll keep looking at the schedule and if anything pops out at me as something we could consider, I'll PM you to see what you think.

$640, double occupancy, for 2 rounds and a 2-night stay....

Green fees for that time of year are $205, a person, +$40 for caddy. So $245. That’s $490 just for golf... $150 total for the hotel stay????

Folks, this is actually cheaper than going it on one’s own! If one plans on playing Streamsong, I would say this is a good deal!!! If folks have the money to do it, good for them! That’s great!

Elitist? Is that just a label some apply to others when someone buys something or does something they can't afford? The tournament isn't called, Streamsong 2018 Elitist Holiday Cup. I won't be playing in the tournament for many reasons but the price seems pretty fair and reasonable to me. I was expecting to see something like $2,500+ per man before I scrolled down to read about it. I'd like to play those courses one day and maybe I will. Just not at this time.
