bens197
I've been pleased with the Oncore Elixir ball. Does everything pretty well and feels better to me than the Snell MTB-X (which is longer).Same. The Elixr has been the best ball for my game in recent years. This is in comparison to the Vice ProPlus, ProV1 and X. Durable, long, appropriate spin and the right price. LoganT
Thanks for all the replies guys. I think I’m going to definitely try some of the direct to consumer golf balls. I have a dozen Bridgestone tour b x and a dozen of the tour b xs that I am going to be trying out soon. I have been playing the b330 rxs lately and while I think this is a wonderful golf ball, it is just too soft for me.Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

fixyurdivot
@Thin2wingave me a sleeve of Snell MTB-X balls at our NW Meet-up and I've really come to like them. He knows quite a bit about golf balls and I got some great info while we played our day 3 round together. He said if I like Pro V1 (I do), that these are very similar and much cheaper. I haven't purchased new balls in a long time, but these will very likely be the one when I do. greenwalker
I play a lot of different balls, Snell makes a quality product and decent price in bulk. I have also played VICE pro plus which I found to be a great ball. Took a dozen to AZ for golf trip figuring I would lose several after recovering from knee and achilles surgery...and of course did not lose one. Cover is not the most resilient out there. At end of year I bought some 4 pc Honma balls on GolfBalls.com for $22.95 a dozen. Fly great, hold greens and they are my go to ball in early spring where we have a lot of soft lost plugged ball days. I would suggest giving them a try. Great deal.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

hawkfdc
I switched recently from Titliest to a Bridgestone Tour B RX (2018) you can get the older generation balls on Amazon for $34. I really like these balls, I saw immediate 5-10 yards on my drives and a little better control around the green. I'm on my third box now. You wish you hit like a girl! Bills300
The "Golf Ball Test" was very eye opening for me to say the least. The 2 things that I took out of it that apply to me are, 1. You do not have to spend $45.00 to get a quality golf ball 2. Pick a quality ball and stay with it. That said, I chose the Snell MTB-X and so far I have no regrets. Micah T
I play Q-star tour during the shoulder season/cold weather, and the Z-star xv during the warm weather. Both can be had at golf discount.com for $20 a dozen. Both are very well regarded by forum members and the mgs ball review. The Q star has an 88 compression rating and both the Z stars are over 100, so depending on your swing speed one might make more sense. elvis14
I see a lot of people suggesting the Q-Star Tour. Is this a big improvement over older Q-Stars? Last time I tried a box of Q-starts (been a few years) they didn't do well for me at all (short and not enough spin and hard feel). -elvis14, Hacker, Engineer, Dad, CG Camper, Co-Founder of From Your Neighbor
Jcaboose
I’m looking forward to finally trying the TaylorMade Tour Response this weekend. It seems like a direct competitor with the Q Star Tour, similar price, both 3 piece urethane balls. I used Project (a) balls sometimes, these seem like an upgrade. John W Sutch
Played the new Q Star Tour for the second time today and really like the performance I get both off the tee and around the green. Mtbryant01
I recently switched to the Snell MTB Black and X to test out and have not been disappointed. Feels like it travels further than the Pro V1X or Chrome Softs I used to play with, but that could just be that I have hit the weight room recently. I also like the way the Snell ball comes off my irons more so than any other ball I’ve used. Go in with a friend and buy up to 5 dozen and I think it’s around $28 per dozen. I think it’s worth it. CrazyGolfNut
Consider the Snell MTB-X or the Srixon Q Star Tour. I have played them and for me they are very much the same. Snell you have to wait a couple of days but it is worth it. Srixon can be found in some pro shops and golf stores.
