Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic Preview and Discussion Thread

This week the LPGA moves to the state of Wisconsin for the playing of the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic. Many of my readers may remember last year when Sei Young Kim set a new LPGA all-time record, when she shot an amazing 31 under par. That total was nine shots better than runner up Carlota Ciganda.

There is something wrong with a tournament when the winning score is -29, and there are 22 players at -20 or better.

Yea Kenny I agree. It did get exciting towards the end, but I would not want to see this kind of golf every week.

Clearly, Thornberry Creek is set up too easy for this tournament.  -29 wins this year; -31 wins last year.  

At some point do players wonder if the challenge is what it should be, or do they really care?

This is the argument that par doesn't matter. The winning score the last two years was very similar. It took 257 shots to win last year and 259 to win this year. Would it be better if it was a par 68 and they finished -15 and -13?  

 

 

Full disclosure: I didn't watch a shot, or see any of the course. Just looking at the numbers.
