GolfSpy_APH
The crash this year was at Abbey off the start. Last year well don't want to get into that debate, but we saw drivers take that corner more reasonably this year at high speed (Copse that is). I think the track and corners are fine, it is just driver sensibility. The mayham that ensued at the beginning of the race was very much fluke and a large part of Russell being on the hard tyres to start. Had he been on medium or softs I don't think all of that happens. ChitownM2
That seems most likely. Thinking both teams release their drivers because McLaren doesn't want Ricciardo and Piastri doesn't want to be at alpine so it would seem logical that they could work a switch out where they both release drivers from contracts. The important part would be to convince Ricciardo to leave McLaren for probably a smaller contract and potentially a slower car but one that may be better suited to his driving style. The people running the team, specifically Otmar and others, are different than back then so he bears no ill will but it doesn't mean that there aren't others there that still do. The corporate people at Renault (Alpine parent company) are still there and they might object to another deal with Ricciardo since they feel he screwed them and broke promises he had made to them. 15 hours ago, gavinski91 said: ESPN saying they know of four different teams who have talked to Ricciardo in the past week - maybe teams think higher of him than we do. Adapting to that style seems to have been a real problem for Danny so he might go back to old form if put in a more conventional car. gavinski91

mikeanthony
Was going to start an English Premier League thread, but came across this and was happy see it … have been a huge F1 fan for most of life. Parents were born in Heidelberg, Germany and my dad raised me in open wheel racing with F1 and CART (pre-IRL days and way better) … and loved playing his F1 sounds CD whenever my friends were over. Lol Anyhow, big Ferrari guy, via Schumacher … and this has been one of the more infuriating seasons I’ve ever experienced with them. Beeeejus Christ has Binotto got to go. And honestly, I think every #2 at Merc in their respective roles would have Ferrari on top this season if they were managing the team. Ugh. Have a soft spot for McLaren via Senna and somewhat feel for Riccardo. I vaguely knew of Piastri, but holy crap what a coup if he does indeed join them next season. Read his bio and the kid seems legit. And it’s absolutely wild to me that F2 champions can no longer race in F2 thereafter. They outta do away with that rule. The race at COTA this year is significantly cheaper this year than last year’s, and lightyears cheaper than the GP at Miami … and albeit, it was COTA’s first race in 2 years, it was an absolute zoo last year. The parents for one of our daughter’s soccer teammates went to COTA last year (no kids) … they said it was great, but def a first time/last time experience for them at that track. After waiting over an hour for Uber and Lyft to give them a ride from the hotel, as were others, one the hotel guests had valet drive his Suburban and take them all to the track for a big tip … and that was just in the morning. Once they got thru the gate at the track, it took them close to 2hrs just to get to their seat at the grandstands. It was shoulder to shoulder a sea of people and basically moving at a shuffles pace. With all that being said, I’d 100% still go! Just be prepared. My son really wanted to study both and the engineering school and business school at UT are both very good. That, combined with the fact that Texas waived out of state rates, made it an easy decision. Yes, wrong shade of orange and no green, but I'm ok with his choice. I can deal just fine with an absolute zoo at an around COTA. Thin2win
F1 at COTA is awesome. ChitownM2
Yeah Max continues to prove that he is the petulant little b*tch that he showed himself to be last season. Seemed like he had moved past that this season but apparently not. Also, good for Hamilton not giving him an inch. I'm hoping that Merc has got the car figured out and can be back at the top next season so we can get some more Lewis vs. Max action on track. I'd love to see how Max reacts to Lewis having nothing to lose and dive bombing him into every corner and forcing Max to either get out of his way or risk both of them being taken out of the race. Berg Ryman
I mean, look, you've got the title locked under key, wouldn't it be nice to have not only the Constructors but a clear 1-2 in the World Championship? I will say though, ecstatic for George for getting that maiden win, looks a worthy successor to Hamilton to lead Mercedes once he's gone and I like that the Silver Arrows have seemingly found something here at season's end, maybe good momentum for the 2023 car and season. GolfSpy_APH
Well was a good race(ish). Sprint was much better. Kinda happy the season is at an end though. null
My son and I really started getting into F1 last year, but man it isn't exciting at all when there is very little passing and Red Bull (and especially Max) just seem so much faster than everyone else.
