I’m very curious to see how I like going from an insert to milled. When I went to go get fit for a putter a couple of months ago I was planning on a Scotty and ended up with the odyssey. A close second was the double wide blade from Scotty but the numbers were better with the OG 7. Will be curious to see if I get the same true roll feel out of the fang style putter from sub70. My putting legit took a big leap almost instantly though. Been dropping a lot more longer putts. Popular Post BallsLeon
As promised, had some time over lunch to snap some pics and roll a couple putts. Incredibly early impressions, it has a nice heft to it, feels quite sturdy in my hands. The Garsen Ultimate grip certainly feels nice, and I don't feel like I have to change my grip at all to hold it (shout out to the Garsen Ultimate testers for putting this on my radar). Now the fun begins! Opening the box... The putter... Included goodies (letter, ball markers, adjustable weight set, and putter cover)... At address, and three putts (one miss right, one died on cup/rolled off, and last stuck in the perfect putt)... Popular Post snoopy79
Look what arrived this evening! The Unboxing We all know that feeling, that rush of dopamine, when the order you placed arrives neatly packaged on your doorstep. I soon as heard the doorbell ring....I knew. So the box is clearly marked and sturdy enough for shipping. Inside the box the packaging was a very stout styrofoam with notches in it that held the putter in place so it would withstand the journey from Sycamore IL. Also tucked away inside an envelope was a hand-written note, a business-card, and a ball marker. Rounding out the package was a set of weights and a tool with which to remove and place the weights with. All in all a great start! The putter itself looks and feels great! I am slowly taking it all in so more impressions will be forthcoming as we get further into the review. But here is a sneak peak photo of this beauty. Also for Shrek74 FWIW I am 100% sure that this head-cover is only designed for this model. It fits perfect. That's it for now. BallsLeon
Took the 009 Mini out for it's first round, and played 9 holes tonight. Course was just freshly aerated with a healthy layer of sand so expectations were low. Had one 3-putt, but managed to match my personal best for this 9-hole course, 16 putts. This is also my current personal best over 9 holes, something I haven't done since early July (While managing to score considerably better/-8 strokes). Felt like I was going right at the hole all night, but sometimes my speed wasn't right to deal with the sand. I also had two texas-wedge shots from greenside rough that turned out great on holes 8 and 9, didn't feel like the rough was catching it much at all. Highlight would be a 12-15ft putt on hole 6. In MyGolfSpy Most Wanted Testing Sub 70 has performed well year over year and claimed third overall in 2023 Most Wanted Blade with the Sycamore 005 Wide Blade. Bolstering an impressive lineup of 16 putters they have an option that will surely appeal to any golfer. Sub 70 says “Every Sub 70 putter is milled from a billet of 1045 carbon steel which leaves no welds, castings or inconsistencies in the head. This is the best way to make a putter head and you will not find a more solid, great feeling putter. Aesthetically each of the Sub 70 putters offers a clean, classic black and white color scheme with traditional alignment lines. We have purposefully made the heads slightly heavier than the industry standard as we feel it allows a more natural pendulum like putting stroke. “ Sub 70 also introduced a new graphite/steel putter shaft this year that offers more technology, feel and stability. Add in these Sub 70 putters will often cost half of what major brands sell for and there would seem to be perfect balance of value and performance. Please welcome and congratulate our four testers! @Dweed @Mr Orange @BallsLeon @snoopy79 Congratulations to the winners interested to see the reviews snoopy79, BallsLeon and Dweed 3 Quote Smile and someone smiles back. Mr Orange
Kudos to @GolfSub70 for the nice job with packaging and overall a high quality looking putter. Initial impressions are overall very good. Opened up the packaging and the putter was packed perfect and in a way to best prevent any damage during shipping. The note of thanks and the ball marker were nice touches. Also included were the weights in nice little organized box which I’ll be very curious to mess around with. First thing I noticed right off the bat was it had some weight to it compared to my current putter. I absolutely love the black look and the black steel shaft really completes the look. I initially wanted the graphite/steel combo offset shaft however they were out of stock with no timetable for them to come in but I am very happy with still the steel shaft and how good as a package the whole putter looks. I did take a few practice putts and ball seemed to roll quite nice. The sound is a little louder than my og 7 white hot and a little firmer feel (still would describe overall as a good feel just different than what I’m used to). The only knock I have to this point is the head cover. It’s definitely good quality feeling and fits perfectly but I do not like that it is velcro. I much prefer magnetic. Planning to take the kiddos out to the practice green tonight and do a little putting on a real green. Enjoy the rest of the initial pictures with a comparison shot to my OG 7.
