StrokerAce
Nice job @GolfSpy_APH ! Regripping is so simple and one of the easiest things you can do yourself. Love the fact that with air you can reuse the grips. For some reason I still haven't switched over and use solvent/double stick tape. It can be messy and stinky. I've seen people use air inflators for tires that have specific pressure gauges in case you don't want to buy a compressor. Kenny B
Nice article Jamie! I've been using air for at least 10 years and still using Pure grips (have a stockpile). So easy to change grips, especially to just try out new grips. Putter grips are more difficult than regular grips, but can be done with care. The most difficult grips I've encountered when using air are grips with a hard collar, like Winn grips and the leather Best Grips. The hard collar prevents sealing on the shaft which is necessary to "walk" the grip down the shaft. Have to be careful and higher pressure needed. Indy_Oz
Well I never... I use compressed air to remove grips if I want to save them, but hadn't thought of trying it to install them! Might have to get one of those adaptors, but I'm definitely going to try with one of my existing nozzles first. Nice article and explanation, Jamie. berkeleybob
This is great, Jamie. I might have missed it, but where did you get the golf grip adapter? I used an air compressor with the pointed nozzle, and that worked fine, but the adapter looks as thought it would be a little easier to handle the grip. Also, I used tape and solvent as well because I never tried regripping without them. William P
Having regripped my clubs for years I will definitely have to give this method a try. Will also have to give Star Grips a try based on this. Have any major grip manufacturers weighed in on this method vs traditional 2-sided tape and solvent? I would be a little concerned about slippage due to the heat and humidity of summer around here but a trial is warranted. NCDuffer
Sirs, I’ve been doing this for a few years and every now and then one will twist a bit, but not often. I’m using the Golfworks regular build up tape (only sticky on one side). I read somewhere that grips are made with at least a layer of tape in mind to get to design thickness. I think my tape is 0.014” thickness. I’ve blown Winn (carefully), Golf Pride, JumboMax (not easy), Star, Lamkin, Royal, and Pure grips on in my quest for the perfect grip. You just need to be mindful and not stretch things too much. If things are too tight add a drop or two of solvent. Don’t set your air pressure too high. It’s part art form with your hand on lower grip end going on and I am no artist, so you have no worries. I also need more touch around the greens. If you’re having second thoughts, my son-in-law has me do his clubs and he was leary of twisting as well. buckpillar, William P and scolist 3 Quote TSi2 Driver, Titleist TSi2 4 Wood, Ping G410 3 Hybrid, Ping G400 4 Hybrid, Maltby TS1 5-GW, Maltby Max Milled 54, Maltby Max Milled 58, Piretti Forza. berkeleybob
Hey, I went ahead and tried @GolfSpy_APH’s air compressor technique. The first one was with my Ping G410 4-hybrid. Worked like a charm. The second one was with my Callaway Rogue ST Max 3-wood. Same grip, but unfortunately, there was slippage between the both ends. I couldn’t get it to settle down, and I’m not sure why. Both are graphite shafts, Adila and Tensei, and it’s the same grip model. So I went with the conventional way—tape and solvent. The nice thing about the air compressor technique is that I can try out different grips easily without ruining them. I’ll try both these clubs tomorrow, and if everything goes well, I’m going to try a different grip on my driver and see how that plays. Did you make something? Did you just plug the nozzle into the hole at the butt end of the grip? I'm curious to other ways to do this than spending $50 on the Start Grips gun/adapter. I've done it before using either one of these attachments that came with my compressor. It's not as easy, but it does work. scolist, Rob Person, William P and 4 others 7 Quote Driver: Aerojet 9* | Hzrdus Black Gen 4 Fairway: G410 3W 13* | Alta CB 65 Hybrid: TS2 18* | Tensei AV Blue 70 S Hybrid: iCrossover 20* | Kai'li White 80 Irons: P790 5-PW | DG S300 Wedges: Vokey SM9 | 52, 56, 60 | DG S200 Putter: Link.1 | Accra x LAB --- LAB Golf Link.1 Review ---

I just don't know the sizes of the threaded parts for that attachment to connect to.
