jvargas18
The GripMaster, The Master, on all clubs. Tremendous tack and durability! I have had these grips on my two sets of clubs for 2 plus years and no visible wear yet. Wipe down after a few rounds and they are ready to go again, just like new. Initially, they are expensive but more than recover their cost(s) over the years. I have sampled their other lines as well (Signature, Roo, Kidd, & Swinger) and all are excellent. I settled on the Master as it felt a bit more firm than the others mentioned. BallsLeon

Duffer_E
I am currently in the process of swapping grips. I started out with Lamkin Crossline grips -- they were standard on the set of irons I purchased, and I really like the feel of them. I decided to keep my grips uniform throughout the bag as I filled in my set, so I went Crossline all the way. However, after purchasing a set of ShotScope sensors, I decided to switch, and it's for a (possibly) silly reason: The butt of the grips. The Crosslines have a rounded butt, so the sensors do not sit flush when screwed in. So, I went to my local golf shop, took a look at the grip offerings and decided that Golf Pride MCC Plus4 grips felt nearly the same as the Crosslines, and more importantly, they have a flat butt, so the sensors sit flush with the end of the club. Are they the same through the bag or different for woods / irons / hybrids / wedges? Is your choice driven by color, feel, size, price or longevity? Or is it whatever the guy at the shop decided to put on for you? I make sure that I have the same grips throughout the various sections of the set (i.e., same grips for irons 4i-PW, but they can be different than the grips on the wedges which are themselves identical). I like everything that is corded and dark in color. It usually gets very warm with high humidity indices in my area so having a corded grip helps a little bit in that aspect. The darker colors help in maintaining the grip looking clean/relatively new IMO. My go-to grips are Golf Pride Z-Grip Cord and Golf Pride MCC+4. I have the stock Lamkin Genesis Cord on my wedges and they're perfectly fine. I will likely swap out the grips on my irons this year for Golf Pride MCC+4s (Caley 01CB that I got to test last summer. JSki_Golf
For many years, my go-to choice for golf grips has always been Golf Pride. However, last year I decided to switch things up and try out the Lamkin UTX cord grips. I have to say, the difference between the two is like night and day. The quality and feel of the UTX grip are simply out of this world. It's like having a new connection between my hands and the club, allowing for a much more comfortable and confident grip. The cord texture of the UTX grip also provides excellent traction, even in wet or humid conditions, which has improved my overall performance on the course. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my decision to switch to the Lamkin UTX cord grips, and I highly recommend them to any golfer looking for an exceptional grip. Also blue is my favorite color so can't go wrong with that from Lamkin UTX Cord grips. Quote JSki_Golf

As a 12 handicap, I’m certainly not expecting leaps and bounds better shots with one grip vs another and the numbers backed that up or did they? Pretty much everything was equal but I did have a better angle of attack (and low point) with the UTx grips. But why? Based on my use of the grips on and off the course, in my opinion, the UTx gave me a better feel and thereby greater confidence. So can a grip help you play better? In my experience and opinion, yes. They are on all clubs except the 3w which was a used club i bought with a good enough tour velvet. When it gets a little more wear i will swap in a GP tour wrap there also. They are the boring black, no bright colors. I install them myself with the white lettered logo up. I have used a wide variety over decades of play - corded, MCC, winn, lamkin, tour velvet, chamois, CP2, & going way back victory and tacki mac. I come back to the tour wrap grips because i really like the firmness - not too soft or too hard - and the grips last multiple seasons for me. So, what is the go to grip for the MGS forum community? I would not use anything but the the Winn oversized Dri Tec wrap grips. My hands are to big for gloves, I wear a size 20 ring. That said any kind of cord grips are out. I need a grip that is soft to the hands. The Winn Dri Tec wrap grips are amazing. They are soft to the touch and the wrap grooves give them some extra versatilities. I know that I can drop my hands down one wrap groove down and take 7 yards off the a shot. I notice if I am gripping the club to tightly. They are amazing. The only draw back is they wear hot spots after about 40 rounds. I change most of them 2 times a year and my driver & lob wedge 3, my hybrids and fairway woods just once a year. These grips are also great for older arthritic hands. I would recommend them to anyone! In your own size. I just use whatever comes on my clubs. Is it worth looking into and possibly re-gripping my clubs? They don't need it. Just wondering if it makes enough of a difference to go through the whole thing. It sounds as though you’ve never had to change out your grips. Skip this part if this is nothing new: For me, it just depends on how old the grips are, compared to how well I’ve kept them clean and how often I’ve used them. If, after cleaning them, your grips still feel the same as when you first bought them, then I suppose it’s fine to keep them. Are your clubs stored someplace cold in the winter time? Do they feel hard? Are you gripping your clubs tightly? If so, you might want to check out new grips at the golf store and see how they feel compared to what you currently have. — As for is it worth it to try grips models other than what is currently on your clubs, I guess that depends. I think the baseline is Golf Pride Tour Velvet or Lamkin Crossline. They are usually what you’ll find on stock clubs. I think they’re great. IMO, there’s really no reason to change to something else unless there’s something that’s not working for you that you can trace back to the grip. For example, are your hands often sweaty or dry? Is the weather wet or dry or both? Does your hand or handgrip feel stable during your swing? Answering those kinds of questions might lead you trying a different grip. It might be a philosophy that might lead you to a grip change. There’s a JumboMax Grip User Group that discusses their reason changing over and their results. Hope this helps. Sometimes I’m chatty. jbern
Right now I have JumboMax (JMX) STR8 UltraLite on my Dr, 3w, 5w & 4hy. Graves Golf Single Plane midsize grips on my irons 5i-AW. Golf pride tour velvet standard on my 54* & 58*. To answer @Goober_golfer’s question, I think it’s all personal preference. I decided to give JMX grips a try because I was having an issue with overdrawing the Dr. It did help, but the bigger help has been that I’m not using as much grip pressure so my swing is more loose, which helps with distance and dispersion. The Graves Golf grips I decided to put on because my old grips were very slippery and I was making the change to the single plane swing. The wedges I keep in standard grips because I like how it feels like I have more control of the club head. TL;DR: Basically, it’s all an experiment!
